00:07I look back and I think, we made our first album in 1969, and here I am, and still being
00:13excited about it. I first heard of the Swords in 1967 or 68, I just thought they were great.
00:22What sort of guy writes this song? He's got to be good, this guy.
00:25So there was a big, big musical revolution. We went down very, very well. We were like
00:32nothing they'd ever heard. And that was it. And suddenly, Straub's sold more than I think
00:38any of the albums that they'd had before. Straub's has been a continual evolution from
00:46that very first album that we made in 1969, through to the present day.
00:53We had a couple of pints, sat and chatted, and he asked me to join the band, and we had
00:58a couple more pints, and Richard Hudson was in the group. That whole line-up changed Dave's
01:03perspective. I know a lot on how to present some of the pieces. You know, I joined a sort of
01:08folk
01:09band initially, but then it became a sort of folk rock band, but then, you know, a sort of pop
01:14band again.
01:16We made our most recent record in South Africa. And I said, Dave Cousins from Straub's.
01:23Tell him I'll play with him. And that's how the process started.
01:26It wasn't until I got in that studio that I suddenly realized these are quite good songs.
01:31Things happen in studio that you can't recreate anywhere else.
01:39Dave insisted that he should have one final farewell concert as the Straub's.
01:44He basically put his life on the line for doing one final incredible delivery.
01:53I spent 26 years, you know, with Dave and all the Straub's.
01:58It's been a wild ride with the Straub's. Once you're a Straub, you're always a Straub.
02:03And all of this is because of a band called Straub's.
02:11Well, in the words of my favorite filmmaker, that's all, folks.
