00:00Halloween is just around the corner, and so are the monsters invading Maidstone.
00:05And today, one of the monster mash creatures was taking over the town hall.
00:10Monsters have been inflated in various towns and cities around the country over recent years.
00:15We're absolutely delighted to welcome six inflatable monsters in Maidstone's High Street and the town centre area over the next
00:24couple of weeks.
00:24Aside from the giant ones, people in Maidstone will be able to find different monsters inside businesses across the town.
00:32These were designed by local children.
00:34This has been something that we've wanted to bring to the town centre for a long time to benefit the
00:38businesses by day and also twilight and nighttime economy.
00:41We hope that it's also fitting for all ages as well.
00:44There are six big inflatable monsters, just like Kevin behind me, and other monster artworks dotted across Maidstone town centre.
00:52But there's one monster who's particularly special.
00:56For seven-year-old Maidstone, her design, Kevin the Ice Cream Monster, has become the official mascot of the monster
01:03mash after being crowned the judge's favourite.
01:06Today, at number two in King Street, she got to help bring her design to life.
01:11What I did for him was, like, at first I was going to do spikes, but then I suddenly started
01:19eating ice cream.
01:20And then I, like, got the idea of having, like, these drops.
01:25Kevin the Ice Cream Monster is already haunting the Metro Bank, and he's been turned into a crochet monster too.
01:33Have you seen him on the wall?
01:35Yeah.
01:35What do you think about that?
01:36Is it cool to see it?
01:38Yeah.
01:39Really big.
01:41And the mayor of Maidstone even made a special appearance to see Meyer's chocolate creation.
01:48We've seen everything from blow torches to hot plates to make everything come together.
01:53It's quite remarkable to see that, to see the design come together, especially with the airbrushing to give him the
01:59green finish.
02:01It's fascinating to watch.
02:02The Maidstone Monsters will be popping up across the town centre from the 26th of October onwards, just in time
02:09for half term.
