00:00I'm a millionaire and I proudly rent.
00:02In generations past, owning a home was the goal and that now isn't realistic for a lot of us.
00:07What does success look and feel like for millennials and Gen Zs?
00:11Yeah, it's so complicated because we all still have this idea in our head that when we own a
00:16home, that's when we're going to be an adult. But we have to rethink that because many of us
00:21are never going to own a home and actually that's okay because if you put your down payment money
00:25in the stock market, most of the data shows, and obviously you have to run the numbers
00:30where you actually live, that you will make more money in the stock market than you would
00:35the housing market.
00:36And do you rent or own?
00:37I'm a millionaire and I proudly rent. I think I would have to hit a certain benchmark in my
00:42investments. I would only buy as a lifestyle choice, never as an investment choice. What
00:49has changed with the American dream is that with our parents, it was seen as this nest egg. Oh,
00:54you could own your home and then that's also going to be something that gives you all this
00:58financial security. But we're not seeing that add up in the numbers. So once I have a family,
01:04I would personally really love to own a house outside of the city, but I know that it's going
01:08to be a money trap.
