00:00I am in the Overguard Arizona tornado damage path. This happened two days ago.
00:05It has been officially rated an EF2 tornado. Radar data could have suggested even up to an EF3,
00:11but the damage here is supportive of an EF2 tornado.
00:14You can see a structure completely destroyed out here.
00:17Recovery efforts continue in Overguard, Arizona.
00:20Here you can see a lot of flattened fences, structural damage, massive trees down as well, completely uprooted.
00:26This tornado came from the southwest and moved off to the northeast.
00:29A terrain-induced tornado. We are in the White Mountains on the Mogollon Rim,
00:33so that supercell came from southwest to northeast, and the tornado dropped here right on the higher terrain.
00:39But wanted to do a damage survey out here in town, and you can see significant damage.
00:45EF2, this is the strongest tornado in Arizona history here with that EF2 rating,
00:51and it's not surprising because there is a vigorous upper-level storm system,
00:55plenty of low-level wind shearers, more of a Great Plains tornado setup up here.
00:59Deep dew points, a lot of cold air aloft as well, and these storms respond to their environment.
01:05When there's a lot of strong low-level wind shear, ample instability, low cloud bases,
01:09you get tornadoes regardless of where you are in the United States.
01:13Even here in the desert, when the conditions come together, you can get significant tornadoes.
01:17Cleanup continues out here.
01:19You can see a lot of cleanups, some blown-out windows across the structures here,
01:23and the strongest tornado in Arizona history here in Overguard, Arizona.
