00:00Hanging out with Doja Cat at Meta, how are you, boo?
00:02I'm all right.
00:03Well, listen, I've been loving how you've been incorporating the glasses in your looks on stage.
00:07You look crazy good, so tell me, how is it to mix it in with your fashion?
00:11It's good.
00:14It's easy because we have so much to work with.
00:16I think when I'm in wardrobe, I'm just making something new by the day.
00:22So it's like we don't have anything planned.
00:24And we can kind of work either from the glasses or work into, you know, from the outfit into the
00:30glasses and see which glasses work with what.
00:32Well, I mean, it's working for you.
00:34And then you have the documentary, which is so awesome.
00:36So why was it important for you to show your fans the tour perspective from your point of view?
00:40I think it was important because there might be somebody who wants to do what I do, and there will
00:48be.
00:49And I think them seeing that perspective is important and understanding it and seeing what it's like and seeing how
00:56hectic it is.
00:57I think, you know, also, if you're built for that, you're built for that.
01:01So there's going to be people built for that.
01:03And I think it'll be nice for them to see that, you know.
01:06And also my fans appreciate a lot of the content that I give them anyway.
01:10Oh, I've been watching this tonight.
01:11I'll give them as much as I can give them.
01:13Yeah, thank you.
01:14And then let's talk about the new music a little bit.
01:15With V, I love the imagery, the yellow parachute and everything.
01:18So what's something you've done recently that felt like jumping out on a leap of faith?
01:25I think, I don't know.
01:28It's hard because I'm always trying to do something different and outlandish a little bit.
01:34But nothing too crazy lately.
01:37You ever felt like you wanted to jump out of a plane lately?
01:39No, absolutely not because I'll never jump out of a plane.
01:43I wouldn't either.
01:44I'll be honest with you.
01:45That's crazy.
01:46I'm glad we're going to stay on the ground.
01:47I'm not jumping out of a plane.
01:50But, you know, I mean, I don't know.
01:52Like, a leap of faith for me is like eating a bug.
01:56Okay, I wasn't expecting that.
01:57Because I'll eat anything, right?
01:59Okay.
01:59I love food.
02:01But the one thing I don't want to eat is bugs.
02:04So that would be my leap of faith, but that just hasn't met me.
02:08We're going to work on that, Doja.
02:09Yeah.
02:10And then I love that you also brought SZA back on Take Me Dancing.
02:12So what is it about you guys' relationship that kind of sparks that magic?
02:15Well, she's amazing.
02:16Like, she has such a great voice.
02:19Just an excellent, exquisite voice.
02:22And I love her writing.
02:25I think she understands where I want to go personally as an artist.
02:30And not to sound selfish, but I think, like, she gets me.
02:34And I think it's just, it works.
02:37We're a really good fit for each other.
02:39We come from the same time.
02:41And maybe that's why.
02:42But she is just, yeah, she's just beautiful and endlessly talented.
02:49And, yeah, I needed her.
02:51I needed her for this album.
02:52And I love that.
02:53I feel that the women of R&B and Hip Hop right now are being so supportive.
02:56And I love seeing you.
02:57And, like, even out on tour, seeing you in Lotto the other day, that was great.
02:59So from the studio to the stage, they got your back.
03:02How is it having Lotto up there and having that support?
03:04I love it.
03:05I love having her up there and seeing.
03:09I think that there's a contrast between us two.
03:12I love that she can come out and look like a princess.
03:16Literally.
03:16She's very prim and she has, like, an energy about her where she can stay in one place and be
03:25strong in her, in the place that she stays.
03:28And I'm sort of wacky.
03:30And so the contrast I really appreciate.
03:34I think that if it was me and her both whacking our necks around and being insane on stage, it
03:41would be fun.
03:41But we don't need that.
03:44Me, as an artist, personally, I don't think that it has to be that way all the time.
03:51People don't have to match exactly.
03:53And that's why I really appreciate her being on stage with me.
03:57I love it.
03:57And my last question I want to ask you about, one of my favorite things you posted recently, where you
04:00were telling artists, just be mysterious.
04:03Like, shut up and be mysterious.
04:04Why is that important to you?
04:05And what's something you wish you could take off the Internet to keep that mystery?
04:08It's important to me because I know what it's like to not be mysterious.
04:13And I know how it feels.
04:14And so if I could stop people from feeling that, I would.
04:19And that is my advice to them.
04:21I don't see myself as very mysterious.
04:25I'm very open.
04:26And I, you know, being chill is one thing, but being just an open book is another.
04:32And I think, be chill.
04:36I think that's a good thing to follow.
04:39Be chill, y'all.
04:40Well, thank you so much.
04:41You look good.
04:41Thanks for having us here at Mehta.
04:43Thank you so much.
