00:02Across Darwin, four sales signs are popping up everywhere, with prices around the country

00:09Prices here are still climbing, and many owners are hoping to cash in.
00:14Like Lisa Joy Cron, who's weighing up selling for one simple reason.

00:23She bought in 2010, just before the local market crashed, but thinks she can now pocket
00:29at least $300,000.
00:31So Darwin is currently the strongest property market in the country, and that's in contrast
00:35with declines across the other capital cities across the country.
00:39So it really does stand out as the one stronger performing market.
00:43Prices increased modestly for the month of September, with house prices up 0.3% and units
00:50up 0.8%.
00:51But it might not last long, with fewer buyers looking to purchase.
00:56There is still some uncertainty around where property demand is heading in the coming months.
01:00There is the risk, of course, that the RBA may do another hike to the interest rates in November,
01:06and that would have another further impact.
01:08So it is possible that Darwin might start to experience the broader national downturn
01:12that we're seeing underway.
01:14Local agents don't seem too worried.
01:16I think the future for Darwin and the Northern Territory is quite positive.
01:21There's been plenty of projects on the boil.
01:24The bit of load of gas is now flowing.
01:27I think that will lead to more investment.
01:29And in a small town like Darwin, it doesn't take much.
01:32You know, if one of these projects gets, you know, needs a thousand people on the ground,
01:35that's going to make a dramatic difference in the real estate landscape sort of overnight.
