00:00Hey, good morning, brothers and sisters. It's a real honor to be here. Thank you for everyone.
00:06Thank you, Jimmy, for coming here. He just said something that he's 100% right, but he
00:13said when he gets his seat, well, I don't see it as my seat, I see it as our seat.
00:20And
00:21that's how I'm going to treat it whenever I get there. Because this campaign is, you
00:29know, it's nerve wracking. I mean, there's so much at stake. There's so many people
00:33that are stepping up, they want government to change, and I do too. And we got a real
00:40shot to do that. And obviously being in this position, you know, there's a lot of weight
00:45on it. But at the same time, I am so privileged and honored and excited and invigorated to
00:53be part of this with all of you. Because it's like something I've never, never, you
00:58know, dreamed of. I've been waiting for so long for government to change for the people
01:03that I care about. You know, we were talking about where we are right now in this country.
01:09And, you know, I keep going back to times in my life. I mean, I can remember where I was
01:15whenever I was young. You know, we lived in a mobile home in St. Francis. And, you know,
01:21every time the furnace kicked on, you know, laying there as a 10 or 11 year old kid, I
01:27wondered if that would be the last time it came on. Because, you know, we were constantly
01:31running out of fuel. You know, I was outside dumping five gallon pails into the tank, you
01:38know, in the middle of the winter. And, you know, that does a lot to a person, does a lot
01:45to a kid, does a lot to a family. And right now, it's going to be worse than ever. You
01:50know,
01:50I mean, we're in a world right now where people are not going to be able to afford their heating
01:54oil. They're not going to be able to afford to keep their house warm. And, you know, I
02:00don't know what they're going to do, you know, but what they're not going to do is get tax
02:04cuts. Like Susan Collins is making sure that people like Elon Musk have, you know, I mean,
02:09that's the real reality is that we're in a world right now that the billionaires control
02:15and Congress has totally given up their authority, giving them everything they want. While the rest
02:20of us suffer, be it heating oil, be it health care. I mean, you know, Jimmy talked about
02:25that. I mean, we're our health care system in Maine is in crisis. And it's, it's, it's
02:32so sad that it was just so that the wealthiest people in this country could get more money.
02:37You know, they don't give a shit about us. They don't care. They never have. And they're
02:42showing us more than ever on steroids, that it really isn't about us. It's about them.
02:47And, and they want us to feel like we can't take our government back. But that's what's
02:52so inspiring about this race, is people know that this government is wrong, and they want
02:57change. And it's not about Troy Jackson. It's about every one of us coming together and making
03:01that change. And that is why this is so damn inspiring. Because I've waited for this for
03:06so damn long. You know, I, like I said, I've waited and waited. I've watched, I've seen
03:19people. I mean, I was this week, I was struck by another fact, my first billionaire, back
03:26whenever I think I was in seventh grade showed up and told all of the people in my community,
03:31that their lives didn't matter. I stood there with my dad. And, and, you know, later on understood
03:37the real pain and struggle that. And just this week, you know, Susan Collins stood with that
03:42billionaire to cut a ribbon. And I just thought about how, how the differences are there.
03:49How, you know, she's proud to stand with somebody like that, whereas I've had my whole life defined
03:55by people like that, not cutting ribbons, but because they've been screwing us, you know,
04:00and, and I don't know, I mean, to be here with all of you today, you know, I mean, I'm
04:06so blessed
04:06that, you know, years and years ago, I got to join the Painters Union. Ever since then, you
04:13know, there's been more and more, you know, getting together with everyday people and understanding
04:18how, you know, solidarity is not just something we say, you know, it's about getting together.
04:29And I, and right now, it's probably more than ever, because we know, you know, where we are,
04:37we know what they think of us. But, but we also know that there's more of us, you know,
04:41there's more of us that want that change. Yes. But I have never seen anything like this.
04:51I mean, and I'm so inspired. I mean, people are coming out like never before. I mean,
04:57they're showing up everywhere. I mean, I think last night we were talking about 125,000 doors
05:02knocked by the coordinated campaign. And that, that doesn't count DFL and all of us. I mean,
05:07it's just going insane. And to be part of that is just, you know, the greatest gift that you guys
05:16could give to me. Because it is about changing this world. It is about having people know that
05:22they can go to the doctor. They don't have to lay there wondering if they do, if they'll go bankrupt,
05:28knowing that, you know, their kid, they can have childcare. I mean, knowing that we can have a union
05:33and not have people, you know, fire us, like we saw with the nurses in Lewiston. I mean, that,
05:40that is the, the, the world that we live in right now, but we can fucking change that.
05:46You know, and it, and it, and it's right now, it's right now, all these next 10 days,
05:55where, you know, I think the rubber's going to meet the road. We will not outspend them. You know,
05:59I mean, the ads that, I mean, I had to quit watching TV, not because, you know, I don't like
06:06the ads or anything like that, but I'm starting to wonder if I should vote for myself.
06:12But, you know, we are not gonna, we're not gonna outspend them. But what we can do is outwork them.
06:18And that is what people are doing. And in these next 10 days, that really is going to be the
06:23difference. It's not just going to be for me, but, you know, so that we get hand elected, you know,
06:27on the second CD, Matt, you know, right here, yes, right here.
06:34Right, right here, I think Tim Nangle, I think that's his district here. And, you know, Tim is,
06:42you know, believes 100% the same things I do. I mean, it's about up and down the ticket,
06:46making sure that good people get elected, so that we can change the government so that we can have
06:51people that goes forward. And I really, really, you know, see a real opportunity for the first
06:59time in my life to make change. This is not about going back to Donald, where we were before
07:05Donald Trump. It's about pushing this government way further than it ever has before.
07:18And that is the other thing that's really exciting about this. The other people that I see running,
07:23the way that they talk, the way that they believe in, you know, healthcare unions, you know, fighting
07:27for everyday people. There's a whole group out there. And this is a real opportunity. And look,
07:33I'm not going there to settle for scraps. I've been settling for that shit all my life. You know,
07:37this is the change that I've been waiting for. And it sounds hokey and all that, but it is true.
07:43You know, all you need is a core group. I mean, we know that in the union movement. All we
07:47need is a
07:47core group to push the agenda and hold firm and not fall whenever, you know, the hardest time comes up
07:54or something like that. It's about staying together. And that's what we do very damn well.
08:07So, I mean, obviously, we've got a bunch of fired up people here today. You know, thanks, Ben, for
08:13opening this up, you know, like you always do. I really appreciate it, brother, for everything you do.
08:18All of you. Thank you, all of you, for everything you do. But these next 10 days, you know, pull
08:24people
08:24out, you know, say, hey, how can I help you get to the voting polls? You know, I mean, and
08:29like Ben has
08:30said, there's some people that are scared to go. And I think Trump is sending some people to watch
08:35polls and things like that. You know, we got to the 29th for absentees. People don't have to go in.
08:41But if, you know, if they want government to work for them, this is our shot. You know, up and
08:47down the
08:47ticket, this is our shot. And when we pull this off, it'll be an incredible thing. It really will. That
08:56we
08:57had an opportunity, and we took it. And now we're going to do the change that we should have for,
09:02you
09:02know, years and years. So thank you, brothers and sisters. Thank you for the work you do. I can't tell
09:07you
09:07how much I appreciate it. You know, be part of this with all of you. It is. It's a team
09:11sport, and I know it so
09:12well. And together, we can make the world a way better place than it is right now.
