The Halloween Spell

On Halloween Eve, as the sun disappeared behind the hills, a little town glowed with orange pumpkin lanterns, purple ribbons, and spooky decorations. Children dressed as vampires, ghosts, and little monsters ran through the streets, excited for the night of trick-or-treating.

At the edge of town lived a young apprentice witch named Luna. She wore a crooked black hat and a purple cloak. Her best friend was Coal, a clever black cat who loved candy almost as much as he loved complaining.

“Coal, this year’s Halloween will be the greatest ever!” Luna announced, opening her spellbook. “I’m going to make a hundred times more candy for everyone!”

Coal flicked his tail. “Last time you tried magic, you turned every flower in the house into a mushroom.”

“That was an accident! This time, I know exactly what I’m doing!”

Luna raised her wand and shouted, “Candy appear, pumpkins shine, make this Halloween super fine!”

BOOM!

A cloud of green smoke burst from the cottage and swept across the town. In an instant, every piece of candy vanished. Pumpkin lanterns went dark, decorations disappeared, and candy shop windows stood completely empty.

Children stared at the streets in disbelief.

“Where did all the candy go?” one little boy cried.

Luna lowered her wand, her eyes wide with horror.

Coal jumped onto the windowsill. “Congratulations, Luna. You’ve turned Halloween into an ordinary Tuesday.”

“I didn’t mean to!” Luna cried, flipping through her spellbook.

Suddenly, golden letters appeared on the page. An ancient voice echoed from the book.

“To break the vanishing spell, find three magical fragments hidden in the Haunted Windmill, the Foggy Forest, and the Old Clock Tower. Unite them before the final bell rings, or Halloween will disappear forever!”

Luna grabbed her broom.

“We have to hurry!”

She climbed onto the broom, and Coal leaped onto her shoulder. Together, they flew toward the Haunted Windmill.

The old wooden windmill stood in a field of dead grass. Its giant blades spun wildly, and green light flickered behind its broken windows. As Luna stepped inside, several little ghosts floated out, laughing.

“Welcome to our windmill!” they squeaked. “Ready to play?”

“We’re looking for a magical fragment!” Luna shouted. She waved her wand. “Turn into pumpkins!”

Instead, every ghost turned into a dancing potato.

Coal covered his face with one paw. “Could you please read the instructions before waving that thing?”

Then he noticed a golden light shining between the windmill’s turning gears.
