00:00This movie is based on true events and begins in 1983 in Brooklyn, New York.
00:04Two students dream of becoming famous rappers, but according to their female classmates,
00:08Four Eyes Chris will never appear on the covers of magazines because he is chubby, black, and ugly.
00:12Christopher Wallace is an outstanding student who lives in a dangerous neighborhood in Bed Stewie.
00:16His mother does not let him go out alone, not even into the courtyard.
00:20In the next scene, Chris meets his father, who wants to get back together with the family.
00:24But Valetta, the boy's mother, rejects her ex because she doesn't want him back in their lives.
00:28With tears in his eyes, Chris supports his mother, saying that he is glad his father will not be coming
00:33back.
00:34The next day, we see the boy sitting outside his house while writing something in his notebook about his dad.
00:38As he writes, he observes some boys with their new sneakers and gold chains around their necks,
00:43and he realizes that he no longer wants to sit outside his house watching,
00:46but he wants to participate in the activities that would allow him to look like these imposing guys.
00:50So he asks Dirac, a local drug dealer who teaches him how to be a tough guy.
00:54He explains that when he sees a drug addict, he has to hold out his hand, take the bills,
00:57and give them the crack he has previously stored away.
01:00Chris is already 17 years old and continues making money by breaking the law.
01:04In one of the scenes, after talking to his mother, the young man does not go straight out into the
01:08street,
01:09but instead he climbs up to the rooftop where he has luxury clothes, gold, and even a gun stored away.
01:14Chris constantly annoys his teachers, but he is intelligent,
01:17and they show us how he easily solves the equation on the blackboard.
01:20His teacher predicts that the boy will barely manage to get a job as a garbage collector,
01:24and the young man replies that even with that job, he would earn $4,000 more a year than him.
01:28In another scene, Chris meets up with his girlfriend Jan, and there she confesses to him that she is pregnant.
01:33The young gangster becomes worried and then panics.
01:35Despite this, the method of serving drug addicts has not changed, and thanks to that,
01:39he and Dirac are the main distributors in the area.
01:42In his free time, Chris raps.
01:44People begin to learn about his talent, and suddenly, a guy named Primo challenges him to a freestyle battle.
01:48However, the young man easily defeats his rival because people like the way he raps about a luxurious lifestyle.
01:54Later, at home, Chris's mother is waiting for him.
01:56She is angry because her son had missed 20 days of school in the last month.
02:00He tells her that he simply does not want to be a beggar like the doctor or the system specialist
02:04who came to the school recently,
02:05and he tells her that he has better things to do, especially because he is about to become a father.
02:10This news shocks his mother.
02:11During the argument, Valetta mentions that she had thrown away the dried mashed potatoes she had found under the bed.
02:16Chris tells her that it was not mashed potatoes.
02:18But drugs, and justifies himself by showing off gold and a wad of cash.
02:23Valetta slaps her son and kicks him out of the house.
02:25Chris continues selling crack and even accepts money from a pregnant girl,
02:28something Dirac would not do because of his moral principles.
02:31He later manages to set up his own business and puts four young men out on the streets to sell
02:35the drugs.
02:36Chris no longer hangs out with the guys or has fun with women because he spends all day counting money.
02:41Some time later, the guy makes a mistake and ends up in jail.
02:44Valetta is only willing to pray for him, and she tells him that if he got himself into this trouble,
02:48he must get himself out of it on his own.
02:50In jail, out of boredom, Chris starts writing again, and over time, his handwriting improves.
02:55He is still in jail when he learns that his daughter has been born.
02:58Nine months later, Chris is released, and he finally sees his daughter, Tiana Wallace, for the first time.
03:03Then, the rapper meets up with his guys and announces that he is going back to his old business.
03:08According to him, supporting his daughter is just as difficult as being behind bars.
03:12Biggie Smalls, as he calls himself, is drawn to music and the microphone.
03:16His friends say he is a great rapper and advise him to record a demo tape.
03:19A little later, producer Sean Combs, known as Puff, invites Chris to come over.
03:24The first thing Puff does is find out whether the rapper is still selling drugs on the streets,
03:28since he does not want to work with a man who could go to jail at any moment.
03:31Puff argues that Chris is now 19 years old, but promises him that if he comes to his senses and
03:36trusts him, he will be a millionaire by the age of 21, and that Biggie Smalls could become as big
03:40a figure on the East Coast as Tupac or Dr. Dre are on the West Coast.
03:44In the next scene, Chris flirts with a girl from the neighborhood named Kim Jones,
03:47and the two end up having sex.
03:49Puff arrives at Vicky's house and informs him that he has been fired,
03:52which means the recording studio and the contract are lost.
03:55Despite this, he advises him not to go back to dealing drugs on the streets,
03:58but Chris does not listen to him, and soon the police arrest him and D-Rock.
04:02And that's not all.
04:03They tell them that they have found a gun in the possession of the two friends,
04:06so one of them has to take the fall for possessing an unregistered firearm,
04:09and they must decide between themselves which of the two will be responsible for the gun.
04:13Although the gun belongs to Chris, D-Rock wants to take the blame.
04:16After all, Vicky has the opportunity to succeed,
04:19and he also faces five years in prison because it would be his second time behind bars.
04:23D-Rock stands by his friend, and Chris is released immediately.
04:26After this, Chris goes straight to Puff's private studio.
04:29He is amazed to see the professional equipment,
04:31but the only thing Puff offers him so far is a college tour, the Notorious Big.
04:35That's how they introduce the unknown rapper on stage, and nobody pays him any attention.
04:39However, when Vicky starts rapping about the times when he skipped school,
04:42broke girls at the age of 13, and kept a gun under his shirt,
04:45the students begin to love the new rap star.
04:47The famous rapper Tupac Shakur is listening to him backstage.
04:51Suddenly, some people run toward the stage, and a fight breaks out,
04:54but it turns out to be staged as part of the show.
04:56And so, Notorious finally wins the audience's hearts.
04:59After that, Chris starts hanging out with Tupac more often, someone everyone respects.
05:04One day, Chris realizes that his girlfriend has a good voice when he hears her singing,
05:07and he promises to make her famous.
05:09Later, Chris's mother scolds him for not having visited his daughter for a long time,
05:13and asks him what kind of normal man would call himself Puff.
05:16Mark Pitts, Puff's producer and friend, appears on the scene and defends a young man,
05:20saying that he is working hard.
05:22Afterward, Valetta confesses to her son that she has been diagnosed with a tumor in her chest,
05:26and that she has to undergo surgery next week.
05:28To which Chris simply runs away from both his mother and the problem.
05:31Upon discovering why Chris is always sad,
05:33Mark tells him that he has to act like a man, and be there for his mother.
05:36A couple of weeks pass.
05:38During that time, Puff's business becomes a success.
05:41Then, the producer announces that he has created a record company called Bad Boys Records,
05:44and hands Chris to check for $60,000.
05:47Meanwhile, Valetta is discharged from the hospital.
05:50In another scene, Notorious' first single is being recorded in the studio,
05:53but in addition to gangsta rap, he had to make a dramatic song,
05:56so that it could be played on the radio.
05:57On the other hand, we discover that Chris does not want to talk to his daughter.
06:01In the studio, Chris barely does anything,
06:03but when he has to work, he gets going and delivers quality lyrics.
06:06And that's how a new star is born.
06:08Notorious B.I.G.
06:08Bad Boy Records releases its first album, called Ready to Die.
06:12And from this moment on, Chris feels like a big shot.
06:14At the album launch party, his friend Tupac approaches him to congratulate him.
06:18On the other hand, we see that Chris is still dating Kim Jones,
06:21but during a photo shoot, he meets the R&B singer named Faith Evans,
06:24and immediately starts trying to win her over.
06:26Very soon, Chris gets his way and kisses Faith.
06:29Just three weeks later, he proposes to her, and they get married.
06:32The problem is that she is promoting her ex's music career,
06:35and in one of the scenes, she made a scene in the middle of a recording session.
06:38The woman acknowledges that the man had lifted her out of poverty,
06:41but that kind of thing is very difficult to put up with.
06:43One day, Jen knocks on Faith's door and, with her daughter in her arms,
06:47asks her to tell Chris to at least visit the little girl from time to time.
06:50In another scene, while talking to his wife,
06:53Chris asks her not to call the hotel room where he is staying,
06:55because Mark and a girl would be there having fun.
06:57Faith realizes that something is wrong,
06:59so she pretends to be a waitress and enters the room.
07:02There, her suspicions are confirmed,
07:03as her husband is indeed cheating on her.
07:05The singer hits the mistress, confronts her husband, and leaves.
07:08Later, Chris goes to the studio to make amends with Faith
07:11for what happened and promises her that it will not happen again.
07:14Meanwhile, his relationship with Kim Jones,
07:16who became very famous and better known as Lil' Kim, only got worse.
07:19We then see that Biggie Smalls' new songs are at the top of the charts.
07:23One day, the guy visits his old neighborhood.
07:25Afterward, we see that he and Buff constantly appear on the covers of magazines.
07:29Only his good friend Tupac Shakur is perhaps more popular than him.
07:32In another scene, Tupac and his crew arrive at the skyscraper where Chris is recording.
07:37There, the rapper is attacked by armed men.
07:39Chris gets off the elevator to see what is happening,
07:41and at that moment, the police arrive.
07:43Tupac suffered five gunshot wounds,
07:45and he is convinced that the guys from the East Coast set him up.
07:47To be exact, Puff and Biggie Smalls.
07:49Later, at the awards ceremony,
07:51Tupac's producer, Shug Knight,
07:53Puff insults and advises all young rappers not to record with him.
07:56And so, a war breaks out between the East and West Coasts.
08:00Journalists add fuel to the fire by claiming that Chris's song,
08:03Who Shot Ya?
08:03is mocking the armed attack on Tupac.
08:05Although Notorious had already stopped performing it,
08:07Tupac releases his insulting song,
08:10Hit Him Up!
08:10in which he responds to Biggie.
08:12Chris ignores everything,
08:13but he is left speechless when he sees Tupac on the cover of a magazine with his wife, Faith.
08:17While the woman is giving an interview,
08:19Chris gets angry,
08:20grabs her clothes tightly,
08:21and shakes her,
08:22then accuses her of cheating on him.
08:24Puff asks him to calm down,
08:25especially because a contract has just been signed under which the artist can earn 5 million.
08:29Faith gathers her things,
08:30and Chris apologizes once again,
08:32but Faith is tired of forgiving him and leaves.
08:34Before a new award ceremony,
08:36Notorious receives a threatening phone call from the West,
08:38with death threats.
08:40The rapper talks to his producer,
08:41and tells him what happened.
08:42He also tells him that he recently found out that Faith is pregnant with his child.
08:46Finally,
08:46he becomes even more furious when,
08:48instead of a size 49 shoe,
08:50He is given a size 46.
08:52Faced with this,
08:53Puff have an honest conversation with him,
08:54and Notorious calms down.
08:56However,
08:56moments later,
08:57out on the street,
08:58Tupac and Suge Knight tease him.
09:00There is no way to get back on track with his former friend,
09:02as they have passed the point of no return.
09:04All rap fans are divided into two sides,
09:06arguing about which coast is better,
09:07and who is to blame for the conflict between Tupac and Notorious.
09:10During Chris's concert,
09:12The audience interrupts him,
09:13but the rapper is not overwhelmed,
09:14and demands that they play the song Who Shot Ya,
09:16claiming that it was written a long time ago,
09:18and it wasn't about Tupac.
09:19On September 13, 1996,
09:21Tupac Shakur is shot,
09:23and killed in his car in Las Vegas.
09:25The rapper died when he was only 25 years old.
09:27Upon hearing this story,
09:29Valletta calls her son,
09:30hoping that the war between the coasts will finally come to an end.
09:33Later,
09:33a saddened Chris watches the footage he recorded while he was with Tupac.
09:37Sometime later,
09:37the rapper suffers an accident in which he breaks his leg,
09:40and you have to be taken to the hospital.
09:41His best friend,
09:42D-Rock,
09:42is finally released from prison,
09:44and congratulates Biggie on his success.
09:46D-Rock wonders how his daughter Tiana is doing.
09:48Someone Biggie hasn't even thought about for a long time,
09:50and advises him to be a man not only on stage,
09:53but also in life.
09:54Christopher Wallace decides to rethink his attitude toward life,
09:56and finally reunites with his daughter.
09:58On the other hand,
09:59he ends his relationship with Lil' Kim,
10:01even though he had recently asked her to come see him.
10:03After insulting his ex-girlfriend,
10:05He turns to his daughter,
10:06and tells her never to let any man insult her.
10:08In his neighborhood,
10:09he sees from a distance the drug addict he used to sell drugs to,
10:12and you can see that the woman is happy,
10:13as she is raising a healthy child.
10:15Notorious announces to Puff,
10:17that he has become more serious,
10:18and wants to change his repertoire.
10:19Chris moves away from gangster rap,
10:21and ventures into soul.
10:22To put an end to the hostility,
10:24Chris agrees to fly to Los Angeles,
10:25on the West Coast,
10:26to promote a new album.
10:28His mother worries about him,
10:29and asks him to be careful.
10:30On March 8th, 1997,
10:32While Biggie walks through the streets of Los Angeles,
10:34with some
10:35planning to meet up with his daughter,
10:37someone watches them from a car.
10:38One of his guys receives a phone call,
10:40and is threatened that Notorious,
10:41will not leave there alive.
