00:00SK Hynix has decided to halt Solid Dime's planned U.S. listing and has also pulled the
00:06plug on its pre-IPO fundraising round.
00:09Two things forced the move.
00:11Korea's financial regulator ruled the U.S. listing would still fall under domestic
00:16dual listing restrictions and existing shareholders pushed back hard.
00:20Shareholders had long worried that a separate Solid Dime listing would mean sharing the
00:25IPO upside with outside investors and that SK Hynix itself could end up undervalued as
00:32a result.
00:32But here's the real problem, money.
00:35Solid Dime's production is heavily concentrated in Dalian, China, making a new U.S. fab a necessity
00:42and a single semiconductor fab can cost tens of trillions of won.
00:47So the IPO is off, but the question of how to fund that expansion remains wide open.
00:53What do you think?
00:54Should shareholder protection come first and block the listing?
00:58Or should the door stay open for capital raises to stay competitive globally?
