00:02It's a real escape
00:05Run away, run away, run away
00:08Run away, run away, run away
00:11Ah
00:12Ah
00:30How you feeling?
00:32I'm okay, I'm just tired
00:36More than normal?
00:39No, it's pretty steady, just tired
00:42all around now
00:45Just a sloth
00:48So we put up a question box
00:50on Instagram
00:52a few days ago
00:54for anyone who had any questions
00:56about
00:57what it's like
00:58being pregnant in Thailand
00:59Obviously
01:01I'm not going to answer any of those questions
01:03because I have no idea
01:06But I counted
01:08we got almost 50 questions
01:10So there's a lot of people wondering
01:11a lot of stuff
01:14So do you want to answer a couple?
01:16Yeah, let's do it
01:17See if I can provide some sort of value
01:20in my
01:22dazed state at the moment
01:26What is the best and worst part of being pregnant?
01:31Well the worst part I think would just be
01:34like energy levels
01:36like you really have to slow down
01:39well I guess for me
01:41pregnancy is different for everyone
01:42so I'm just answering how I've
01:44witnessed it
01:46The amount of things that I can get done in a day
01:49is very minimal
01:51compared to what I was doing before
01:53which is like a pro and a con
01:55maybe I was pushing it
01:56like hustling a bit too much
01:58but so it's kind of been practice
02:00slowing down and doing less in my day
02:03and like listening to my body more
02:05so I do get frustrated though
02:08when there's things I want to get done
02:09and I just do not have any energy to do it
02:12The best part has been
02:14I don't know it's brought you and I closer
02:16it's been pretty amazing
02:19Becoming parents together
02:20has been really special
02:22experience like something that we're getting ready for
02:25it's been
02:26really amazing
02:27and just feeling myself becoming a mother
02:30is like a pretty
02:33crazy experience
02:35yeah it's beautiful
02:36it's
02:37I feel like I'm doing something that I
02:40didn't realize I always wanted to really do
02:43and
02:43what I feel like I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing
02:46if that makes sense
02:48Are you going back to Australia
02:50or Canada for the birth
02:52or staying in Thailand?
02:53We are staying in Thailand
02:56for everything
02:57for postpartum
03:00the entire pregnancy
03:02well most of the pregnancy will be here
03:05yeah
03:06giving birth
03:06at
03:07hospital in
03:08Hua Hin
03:10Someone asked
03:11hi
03:11they said
03:12I got advised
03:13from my doctor
03:14to wait three months
03:15after being in Thailand
03:16before getting pregnant
03:20what would that be?
03:22maybe to adjust to the food
03:24and the water
03:24and
03:25just
03:26I always notice
03:27every time you and I've
03:28like moved to another country
03:30there is those few months
03:32that you've got to like adjust
03:33just to the way of life
03:35to the
03:35the temperature
03:37the
03:37everything
03:38like your entire environment
03:40to adjust to it
03:41so I can kind of understand that
03:42Are you planning on travelling with the baby?
03:46or are you planning on staying in Hawaii?
03:48100% travelling with the baby
03:51um
03:52Lloyd and I plan on sharing everything that we love
03:55with this baby
03:56and not stopping things that we love
03:59just because we're having a baby
04:00I think it's really important to share the things that you love
04:04so that your baby can love them too
04:06somebody asked
04:07healthcare system in Thailand compared to Australia
04:10but I guess we can compare it to Australia and Canada
04:14so
04:15okay I'll start with Canada
04:17comparing
04:17to Canada
04:18um
04:19I have not lived in Canada for 10 years
04:22like didn't go to the doctor while we were there or anything either
04:25so things could be quite different
04:27I always felt that the hospitals that I had gone to were a bit overpopulated
04:32and it sort of felt like you were always getting rushed in and rushed out as quickly as possible
04:37probably public hospitals eh?
04:39yeah public hospitals I guess
04:41um
04:41healthcare is free in Canada
04:43uh
04:44for
04:45for most people I think
04:46I don't know if that's still the case actually
04:48but
04:49um
04:49I think it's subsidised
04:51I think um
04:53well in Australia you get like a percent most of it back
04:56but it's not completely free
04:57okay
04:58maybe I don't know if it's the same
04:59I can't I can't remember it's been too long
05:01but um
05:02I
05:03I always just felt real anxious
05:05and maybe that was just something personal from my past or something
05:08like I never felt comfortable in hospitals
05:10and to be honest I had quite bad anxiety
05:14with doctors and surgeries and that type of thing
05:17and I've never had surgery or broken a bone or anything like that
05:20so um
05:21I'm not sure where the phobias come from
05:23but
05:24so far our experience in the hospital in Thailand compared to
05:29um
05:30Australia and Canada has been really pleasant
05:32like
05:32the hospital here in Hua Hin
05:35um
05:36very quiet
05:36super clean
05:38um
05:39very efficient
05:40I just
05:41like
05:41it's almost like a
05:43five star like
05:44hotel type vibe
05:45it's got a really nice cafe in it
05:47um
05:48the rooms are meant to be immaculate
05:50like a really nice hotel
05:52and the
05:53the doctors
05:54everyone's been very friendly and
05:56and welcoming
05:56so I kind of have gotten over that phobia
05:59and I don't feel like
06:00any sort of worry or
06:02um
06:03like
06:04yeah
06:05wishing that I'd be somewhere else
06:07I'm really really happy with the hospital here
06:09somebody asked
06:11are you being extra careful with your diet
06:14um
06:14being in Thailand
06:17extra careful with my
06:18I wouldn't say I'm
06:19I already am quite careful
06:21after my scare that I had with the parasite that I got in Vietnam
06:27um
06:28if you've been following our channel you've probably heard of that
06:31since then I've been very mindful of what I eat
06:35and how things make me feel
06:37um
06:38and cleanliness
06:39that sort of thing
06:40so
06:40it
06:41I haven't had to change very much in that regard
06:43and I
06:44I've kind of gotten over that anxiety as well
06:46I know what makes me feel good and what doesn't
06:49and um
06:50that's different for everybody
06:51so I kind of just go off what
06:54I know
06:54makes me feel a certain way
06:56okay
06:57and someone asked do you have names picked out
07:00yes
07:01but we're not sharing
07:02yeah
07:03we can all wait
07:04there
07:22weather just change so fast
07:25we're actually on our way to Bangkok at the moment
07:27we are going to be meeting up with one of our friends
07:30this is one of our
07:30this is our first time having a visitor since we moved
07:34to Thailand which is really exciting. His name is Tooby. He's that friend whose laugh
07:41is funnier than the joke so we're really excited to see him. It's been a long time. We've actually
07:48been trying to convince him to start a YouTube channel so he's actually going to be into
07:53this vlog or maybe the next one. I'm not sure. So he can get a feel for it. But tell
07:59him
07:59down in the comments that he should start one if you think he should because we think
08:03he's really funny.
08:56This is our usual spot that we stay in because we love the location that it's in. The food
09:01is really good here. This hotel is called The Ember. We've stayed here before. We'll
09:08leave the link to them down in the description if you're interested. It's just it's so close
09:12to Khao San Road and like so many other restaurants and so many other things are walking distance
09:16from here. So yeah it's a good spot to stay. Looks like the rain's held up so we're gonna
09:23go get some food I think.
09:24Okay so this question we've been asked by like five different people and that is does your insurance
09:30cover maternity and also does it cover the baby? The answer is yes. So we're with Safety
09:37Wing Nomad Insurance and have been for two and a half years since the day we left Australia
09:43and actually we can add the baby onto our insurance plan, our Nomad Insurance plan for absolutely
09:51no cost. Any child under 10 years old can go onto your Nomad Insurance plan for free which
09:57is awesome. As far as the maternity goes they offer a separate insurance policy which we have
10:04so we're covered for that as well. But honestly even if we weren't it's so cheap it's not a huge
10:09deal but we're super happy that we are covered. But for Nomad Insurance you've probably heard
10:12us mention them before. We've been using them since the day we left Australia and we've had
10:17to use them a few times. We got dengue fever in Bali which was horrible. We were in the hospital
10:22for like two weeks and had to get IV drips and they covered everything. In Mexico Mandy was like
10:30five minutes away from having to go to the ER because she was so sick and I was able to
10:35ring them
10:35and they told me which hospital we could go to and which hospital we shouldn't go to so we wouldn't
10:41get ripped off. And they also just recently updated their claims process because I had to use them just
10:47a few days ago and it's super simple. You can just jump on the website and make a claim within
10:53five
10:53minutes as you can see on the screen now and you get reimbursed for everything within a week. So
10:58everything's super simple. So we highly recommend Safety Wing Nomad Insurance for anybody traveling anywhere
11:04because we've been using them for years and we wouldn't travel without them.
11:28Is the baby hungry? Always.
11:44Do we have a hotel last time? No. We had cow soy chicken last time we were here and it
11:51was incredible but unfortunately the baby doesn't like cow soy chicken.
11:57Yeah that sucks actually. For you. No sympathy ever.
12:06No. All the food is really good. You can't really go wrong and it's such a nice place. It's not
12:13expensive. It's like 200 baht for a pad thai which I mean it's more than like you pay on the
12:22street obviously but it's still pretty good.
12:25You're paying extra for the vibe and I think the chef is very well trained as well.
12:39You hungry eh? Yeah. That was so good.
12:44Okay I got a couple more questions here. Actually there's heaps more so we'll see how many we can get
12:49through.
12:49Someone asked how many weeks pregnant are you?
12:54Sixteen now.
12:56Sixteen.
12:58Okay so someone asked the cost and the differences between private and public hospitals and do they speak English?
13:05I couldn't tell you how much the public hospitals cost because we've only been to the private hospital in Hua
13:18Hin which is Bangkok Hospital.
13:21But honestly that's not even expensive. I think the first ultrasound we got it was like it was less than
13:30a hundred dollars.
13:32And then yeah they all speak English so pretty much every doctor at this hospital has fluent English and I'm
13:42pretty sure most of them actually were educated like in the US.
13:46It's very very expat and foreigner friendly like when you walk in you'll see a lot of expats there so
13:54it's not as if we're just walking into a foreign hospital where no one like understands us.
13:58It's actually been really good.
14:00A lot of the questions that I'm seeing are pretty like fear based like just asking if I'm scared of
14:07different things.
14:08To be completely honest my opinion on this is that having a baby is quite a spiritual experience and if
14:18you're not spiritually connected or connected to your religion or just something to keep you grounded.
14:25I think you'd be a lot more fearful and be a lot more scared but because I do believe in
14:32God I don't fear as many things.
14:35So I do recommend not trying to be pushy or anything but to try and connect with yourself spiritually or
14:43religiously before having a child because it does relieve you of a lot of worries and fears and just having
14:51faith in the process and just focusing on what you can control and not what you can't.
14:56Someone asked is it true in Thailand they want you to have caesarean or so they don't give epidural on
15:04natural birth so like non-caesarean I guess.
15:06Someone asked is it true in Thailand?
15:07Um no that's that's not true.
15:10I have heard and read that they are a bit quicker than jump to doing caesarean but they're very responsive
15:20to whatever your requests are so you just have to voice what you want beforehand I think and they seem
15:28to be very like willing to oblige and do what you want and what your requests are.
15:35But I think you just need to say it and state it.
15:38Yeah I'm noticing a trend here as well with a lot of um I think there's a bit of a
15:44misconception that like Thailand is different to like Western countries and they somehow force certain things on you when you're
15:51in the hospital or when you're giving birth that's not the case at all.
15:54We've been having conversations with our doctor who's really good and asking her a lot of questions and like at
16:01the end of the day like every single decision is on us.
16:04Whatever we want to do is on us there's nothing that gets forced on you here in Thailand at all.
16:10Like we've done our research we've asked the doctor um she's even started bringing up vaccinations for Mandy and like
16:19every single thing is your choice there is no like hard and fast rules where they push anything on you
16:26um in Thailand.
16:28It's exactly the same as back home so if that's something that concerns you're like don't worry about it.
16:34Someone asked did doctors advise you on any supplements um to take during pregnancy?
16:41Yes um I'm taking calcium uh B6 I think just a B vitamin is it a B vitamin as well?
16:54Uh magnesium and then a prenatal uh multivitamin that has everything in it.
17:02I recommend if you're even considering getting pregnant in like the next year I was told to start taking the
17:09prenatal like now.
17:11It actually will help increase your chances of falling pregnant and lucky for Lloyd and I it happened on the
17:17first try so I don't know if maybe that had something to do with it but it is good to
17:21start um loading up on those minerals especially because I read that after giving birth it takes two years for
17:30your body to replace all the minerals and everything after giving birth.
17:35So um it's really important to up your levels and that type of thing.
17:40I've got a question here that says what's your long-term life goal with raising a baby, school, family, etc.
17:48Um I mean long-term goals are kind of hard to plan out but at the moment we're in a
17:57place that's like really good to have a baby honestly I'm so glad we picked it because it's really affordable.
18:03Our cost of living is so low and the quality of life is really good um and even like things
18:09like childcare and like cleaners and getting help when uh we need it even though we don't have family around
18:17is gonna be really accessible for us here in Thailand.
18:21Schooling I don't know we go back and forth with schooling that's probably something over the next couple of years
18:27that we're gonna have to really figure out and do a bit of research on.
18:31Um more like keep an eye on it cause the way that education is right now I'm really not impressed
18:38with it.
18:39Public education I guess for the most part so we'd really yeah I have to do our research into what's
18:45being taught at certain schools in order to send our kids there.
18:50Um homeschooling is also an option it's very accessible to anybody at the moment and um would suit our lifestyle
18:58more but this is something that we're gonna keep researching and learning about as we become parents and these things
19:06come up more.
19:07Yeah the whole point of us doing what we've been doing for the last few years is so we could
19:11have a family and have kids and not just like chuck them into daycare and then go to work everyday
19:17and then put them in school and um like never see them.
19:21I don't know if we're gonna be what you would call uh traditional parents but maybe stay tuned for that.
19:29Yeah yeah I mean the whole reason that we wanna have kids is cause we want to raise them we
19:35don't wanna pay someone else to do it.
19:37Like we wanna figure out how we can create as much time to put as much energy into our own
19:43kids which I think is how it used to be and um yeah we're trying to figure out a way
19:50to make that happen.
19:52Yeah and right now we're focusing on just building the best environment possible and being around good people and our
20:00family of course as well so that's our long term goal I guess.
20:21My name is Liam Payne, so my name is Sean Payne.
20:21But a lot of urge that we're that we can probably fill up the품age I, and we're doing a lot
20:21all year's services to help our kids breast 어묵...
21:10We're eating again.
21:14We just went for a walk down Kosan Road with our buddy Tudy after having a couple drinks
21:19on the rooftop and we worked up a bit of an appetite and not way too much food.
21:25Look at this thing.
21:26Mango sticky rice with coconut ice cream on a cruffle.
21:32That hits everything.
21:35That like, that's the full package.
21:38Wow.
21:40We're going to eat this and go to bed I think because I'm already full but I can't not eat
21:45that.
21:54It's so good.
21:55Wow.
21:57Yeah.
22:01Wow.
22:02We're out.
22:07Yeah.
22:09Run away, run away to your escape
22:13Run away, run away, run away
22:15You're never too far to run
22:18Run away, run away, run away
