00:02I didn't know that I was going to be the opening speaker at the March in Washington, D.C.
00:07I don't think anybody knew what we were walking into other than the feeling that it was necessary and we
00:13had to be there.
00:16I see this as a moment of taking feminism back, making feminism a project that all of us can share.
00:28When I put the hashtag in front of Black Lives Matter, I was like, we're going to make this thing
00:33go viral.
00:34I still remember the exact moment when we hit the publish button.
00:37We kind of watched with wonder as the story started to take off like wildfire.
00:42Everybody's like, oh, good, look, now we have a movement. And I'm like, nah, Me Too is a tiny part
00:48of a large movement that's been happening for decades.
00:51I got a call saying, a bunch of us are going to gather. Do you want to come over and
00:55join us?
00:55I said yes, because I was mad.
00:58This was before we even had the name Time's Up.
01:00Someone may have slammed their hand on the table and said Time's Up on all of this behavior.
01:05And then it was like, oh, that's our name.
01:08There's a renaissance that's happening inside of Hollywood.
01:11I remember calling my attorney and saying like, if I say this, are we sure that it's true?
01:17On behalf of women everywhere, I will brag. I am the highest paid showrunner in television.
01:27The United States Congress certainly was not built for young women.
01:32But it's really young women of color who have pushed forward for so many changes.
01:37And that has just turned the power dynamics here on Capitol Hill on its head.
01:42The world and this country is changing. It's been changed.
01:45And I think that we have an opportunity this time to do it right.
01:50There are some people who think that we are post-civil rights, we are post-feminism,
01:58and therefore we're post-intersectional.
02:01I can't see how we're post-anything and I can't see how we can possibly think we're done.
02:18It's impossible to do it right.
02:18And then it's impossible to do it right now.
02:18The world and the world's most amazing.
02:19And then it's impossible to do it right now.
02:19So, we're just going through the world.
