Wind speeds are forecast to reach between 120 and 150 kilometres per hour, prompting the India Meteorological Department to issue a red alert for coastal districts including Kakinada, Machilipatnam, Yanam, Visakhapatnam, and Srikakulam, as well as parts of Odisha. The Andhra Pradesh government has declared holidays for schools and colleges across vulnerable districts and released 27 crore rupees for emergency response. Authorities are undertaking large-scale evacuations of low-lying and flood-prone areas, prioritising elderly residents and pregnant women. Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force have been deployed, while the Armed Forces, Navy, and Coast Guard remain on standby. 01:35This is about ensuring that, as is agenda for all state governments here,
01:40that there should be zero casualty with regard to the landfall that the cyclone is going to make.
01:50The next 24 to 48 hours is going to be crucial as cyclone Ornub is all scheduled to make its
01:57landfall here.
01:58We are at the Kakinada beach and just a couple of kilometres from here,
02:04towards Yanam and Vishakapatnam is where the landfall is expected.
02:08For now, cyclone Ornub, which has now turned into a very severe cyclonic storm,
02:14has already been gathering its fury across the coast of Andhra Pradesh.
02:19The IMD has predicted very heavy rainfall and has also announced a red alert across several regions,

03:20we also saw yet another cyclone Tufan that had made its landfall very close to this very region.
03:27So, the public alert but precautionary measures that have been set in place as well.
03:35Across Yanam towards Vishakapatnam is where the landfall is scheduled to be taking place tomorrow
03:40between 9 a.m. and 12 in the forenoon.

03:53to 140 km per hour
03:55with the impact of cyclone Ornub and the aftermath yet to continue on.
04:06So, what I've been doing is tracking what the satellite images are saying.
04:09Here on the Windy, let's try and understand what is the latest.
04:12What we know so far is that, look at that,
04:14this is from the Bay of Bengal as the deep depression that's forming.
04:18The winds that are moving more towards north-westward,
04:21you can see it's getting close to Vishakapatnam.
04:2328 October is where Andhra Pradesh is expecting the landfall.
04:27About 170 km is the distance right now between Vishakapatnam and the coast area and this cyclonic storm.
04:34Cyclone Arnub is likely to make a landfall on Andhra Pradesh.
04:37So, we are told Vishakapatnam, Odisha, Bengal,
04:41these are at least Odisha and Andhra Pradesh especially are the states that are likely to be hit
04:45where maximum measures have been taken.
04:47But there's also Tamil Nadu Puducheri where precautionary measures are being seen
04:51and Bengal as well.
04:53But remember, these winds can go up to 120 to 150 km per hour.
04:58So, all precautionary measures along this coastline have been taken.
05:02Fishermen have been told not to venture into the sea.
05:05And you can see it's getting closer from the past 24 hours.
05:08And 28 October is where the landfall is set to take place.
05:11We'll be tracking all that and more.
05:13And we hope that the nature's fury will not be impacting our coastline
05:19but also to importantly ensure if at all it happens,
05:23we'll be ready and prepared and how.
