friends, this one made me angry before it made me emotional.
The setup: a family needs one daughter sent to the god. Two exist. The choice is made in a room the elder one isn't standing in.
And when she finds out and objects, the objection doesn't matter. The decision was never being discussed with her. It was being announced.
That's what I couldn't shake. Nobody there thinks they're doing wrong. They think they're being necessary, and necessity has always been allowed to spend whoever's cheapest.
🧵 How it unfolds:
- The Beginning: a wedding being prepared, a family being practical.
- The Tension: she says the true thing out loud, publicly.
- The Breaking Point: the god hears it and changes the terms.
- The Payoff: she stops being the family's decision and starts making her own.
Watch it with someone who'll get angry too.

00:00:05You blame me for doing what I did to save Malon?
00:00:08But look at what a good person she is.
00:00:10I wish I was marrying her instead.
00:00:13You know, Zuma, you'll get your wish soon enough.
00:00:20I was meant to help rule over my people.
00:00:22Instead, I must die for them.
00:00:28Still pouting?
00:00:29You've made enough of a show, you can drop the act now.
00:00:31He still thinks Maline's fall was all my fault.
00:00:34I gathered the beads and restrung this.
00:00:36Next time, take better care of the gifts I give you.
00:00:38Take better care? When you're the one who broke it?
00:00:40Stop making everything a fight.
00:00:42Turn around so I can put it on you.
00:00:52Do I get a thank you for fixing your necklace for you?
00:00:57Still trying to win him back?
00:00:59I will enchant him for as long as it takes to destroy you, Teo.
00:01:05Now that you have your necklace back...
00:01:24This fertile soil from El Popo will prime you for your wedding to our son, Zuma, tomorrow.
00:01:30Zuma, marrying you is my life's ultimate purpose.
00:01:34Maline, fetch Zuma's gift for Teo.
00:01:45Please accept this necklace as a token of my love.
00:01:47Each bead was taken from a different moment in our lives together.
00:01:50Put it on her.
00:01:54How nice it must be for you, sister, to be the bride.
00:01:57Not expendable like me.
00:02:05Teo, you should go clean yourself in the bathhouse.
00:02:08We will have your bed made with fresh sheets for your last night unwed.
00:02:18This memory is from when I was five years old.
00:02:21But the marriage was not arranged until we were 11.
00:02:24He must have always known we were destined, as I did.
00:02:28I don't want to die.
00:02:29You can save me, Zuma.
00:02:41I'm to be sacrificed to the god of war on your wedding day.
00:02:43But if you take my virginity, the offering of my body will be rejected and I'll be saved.
00:02:49Maline, to do so would curse our city.
00:02:53Can you watch me die after seeing me so exposed?
00:03:01You are Teo's sister.
00:03:03Perhaps saving you from being sacrificed to the god of war is the right thing to do.
00:03:09You can have me whenever you want.
00:03:13Even after you're married to my sister.
00:03:15If there are nights she cannot please you,
00:03:18you can come to me and I will satisfy your every need.
00:03:50How dare you betray me like this?
00:04:12I will ruin their city to remind them not to toy with me.
00:04:20How dare you betray me like this?
00:04:25Who are you?
00:04:38You mock Witsel with your actions, Zuma.
00:04:40And you mock me as your future wife.
00:04:43Of all people.
00:04:44My own sister?
00:04:46Mind your tone, sister.
00:04:48This is the future emperor you're talking to.
00:04:51Remember we live to serve him.
00:04:53In every way we physically can.
00:05:01Don't make a fuss over this, Teo.
00:05:03It changes nothing for us.
00:05:08It changes everything, Zuma.
00:05:10You have had sex with my sister before me.
00:05:13And you have put your own people at risk.
00:05:15She was born to be a sacrifice.
00:05:17That was always my sister's fate.
00:05:19What do you know of sacrifice, Teo?
00:05:21Do you even know how they do it?
00:05:22They keep you alive while they cut your chest open so Witsel can see that your heart is pure.
00:05:26Would you cut yourself open for your people?
00:05:28You've never even cut back an hour of sleep.
00:05:31Zuma is my hero.
00:05:32He saved me.
00:05:34Since you've already taken my sister, you can keep her.
00:05:36Marry her instead.
00:05:37I will leave the palace and never stand before you again.
00:05:40You're my future bride.
00:05:41You do what I say and I say we're still getting married.
00:05:45Do you even love me?
00:05:47Of course I do.
00:05:48Love and sex are different.
00:05:50As emperor, I will take many concubines.
00:05:52But you are the only one who will stand beside me as my wife.
00:05:57I can get his body on my own, but to make him toss her aside, I'll have to use sorcery.
00:06:03But I can't get caught or they'll execute me for witchcraft.
00:06:07No.
00:06:08Now that I've tasted your sister, she's the one I truly crave.
00:06:12He's mine now, along with his empire.
00:06:31You gave yourself to me willingly.
00:06:35But to make sure you stay willing, I'll keep you under my spell.
00:06:41Yes, my love.
00:07:00The god of war knows his sacrifice defied him.
00:07:03By betraying me, my betrothed and my sister have damned us all to a terrible fate.
00:07:08I have to plead for mercy.
00:07:12Oh my god.
00:07:14Oh my god.
00:07:31Oh my god.
00:07:33Rutile is terrifying.
00:07:35I cannot disrespect this god.
00:07:37Please, Whitsid, mighty god of war, spare our city.
00:07:40Forgive Malon and Zuma. They were selfish and short-sighted when they ruined your sacrifice.
00:07:49Who are you to pray for the sin of another?
00:08:03I'm so sorry, my lord. What will you do?
00:08:05If you will not offer an appropriate sacrifice willingly,
00:08:09I will take all the sacrifices I desire from your people until my anger is satisfied.
00:08:16Unless an even more appealing sacrifice can be made instead.
00:08:20Like you.
00:08:23You want me to be your sacrifice, my lord?
00:08:25Yes. I need a blood and body tribute.
00:08:31To do with as I please.
00:08:36But I don't want to die.
00:08:39You have no choice.
00:08:42Now that I've seen your radiant soul, I must possess it.
00:08:46Either sacrifice yourself willingly and save your city.
00:08:53Or I will rain hell down and take you anyway.
00:09:05That death and destruction is what will happen if you refuse.
00:09:09I will come for you soon.
00:09:11You may choose how.
00:09:19Teo, you cannot be serious.
00:09:21Why would you offer to switch with your sister and be our sacrifice?
00:09:24Because I am still a virgin.
00:09:27And my sister is not.
00:09:31What do you mean?
00:09:33Who has had her?
00:09:34Your son.
00:09:36My betrothed.
00:09:37Zuma.
00:09:38Zuma.
00:09:43It can't be.
00:09:45Zuma's only ever loved you.
00:09:47It doesn't matter now.
00:09:48Zuma took Maling's sacred gift.
00:09:50So he can marry her in my place.
00:09:52I will be sacrificed to the god of war.
00:09:54Huitzel's in her place.
00:09:56We can't allow you to do that.
00:09:58We've invested too much in you as our son's bride.
00:10:01It would be wasted if you are sacrificed.
00:10:03I will not marry Zuma.
00:10:04And Huitzel still requires a sacrifice.
00:10:05This is the best path forward.
00:10:07We must conceal Teo's identity during the sacrifice.
00:10:10As well as Malin's.
00:10:13Huitzel and Zuma expect different brides.
00:10:16We will host the wedding and sacrificial ceremonies at the same time.
00:10:20Three days from now.
00:10:22And the identities of the blood offering and the bride shall remain a secret to all.
00:10:27Teo.
00:10:27Prepare a sacrificial headdress and mask for yourself.
00:10:30I will have a bridal covering made for your sister.
00:10:34Zuma.
00:10:35I hope you are sure of your choice.
00:10:37Because once I'm gone, you can't change your mind.
00:10:45They haven't cancelled Malin's sacrificial ceremony yet.
00:10:47She may yet still be offered up to Weedseal.
00:10:51Malin is not going to be sacrificed.
00:10:53You made sure of that by taking her virginity.
00:11:00How could you be angry?
00:11:01I did this for you.
00:11:02She's your sister and I saved her.
00:11:07And when you warm her bed after our marriage, what reason will you give then?
00:11:13Don't be naive.
00:11:14Every emperor has concubines.
00:11:16You didn't expect to be the only woman I taste for the rest of my life, did you?
00:11:22You're right. I was naive.
00:11:25I'd hoped I'd be enough.
00:11:27But my own sister?
00:11:28Don't you see how wrong that is?
00:11:31Then make sure you satisfy me day and night.
00:11:34And I won't touch her again.
00:11:37You told me she's the only one you crave now.
00:11:40I never said that.
00:11:48But Malin is superior to you in every way.
00:11:51I wish she'd been the one chosen as my empress and you were the sacrifice.
00:11:54Zuma, my dear.
00:11:55Be kind to Teo.
00:11:57She's not strong enough for this harsh world.
00:12:02Get back to work.
00:12:04Your wedding is soon.
00:12:06You mock me.
00:12:08I won't have it.
00:12:11Teo!
00:12:12Why must you be so violent?
00:12:15Apologize to your sister, Teo.
00:12:16I won't let you treat her this way.
00:12:20I don't understand, Zuma.
00:12:22How can you talk to me like this?
00:12:24Have you forgotten all our moments together?
00:12:31You're a jealous, spiteful girl and I'm ashamed to be engaged to you.
00:12:35Apologize now or I'll get the whip and lash you until you do.
00:12:43I would rather die than apologize.
00:12:46Don't yell at her, Zuma.
00:12:47She was raised to be above me.
00:12:48Even if she hurt me on purpose, it's my lot in life to have such abuse.
00:12:52You blame me for doing what I did to save Malin?
00:12:55But look at what a good person she is.
00:12:56I wish I was marrying her instead.
00:13:00Do you know, Zuma?
00:13:01You'll get your wish soon enough.
00:13:06I was meant to help rule over my people.
00:13:09Instead, I must die for them.
00:13:14Still pouting?
00:13:15You've made enough of a show, you can drop the act now.
00:13:17He still thinks Malin's fall was all my fault.
00:13:20I gathered the beads and restrung this.
00:13:22Next time, take better care of the gifts I give you.
00:13:24Take better care? When you're the one who broke it?
00:13:26Stop making everything a fight.
00:13:28Turn around so I can put it on you.
00:13:38Do I get a thank you for fixing your necklace for you?
00:13:44Still trying to win him back?
00:13:45I will enchant him for as long as it takes to destroy you, Teo.
00:13:52Now that you have your necklace back, I must go find Malin.
00:13:54I want to enjoy her body as much as I can before I'm forced to marry you.
00:13:57who cares
00:14:02You're the one who died?
00:14:03F**k.
00:14:06Ma'am, who cares as much as he does?
00:14:16Got one. This'll be the perfect pig to roast for tomorrow's wedding.
00:14:24Such a violent slaughter
00:14:26And yet more merciful than mine will be tomorrow
00:14:32My death will not be quick
00:14:35I will be kept alive, chest open for as long as I can bear it
00:14:40Sometimes it takes hours for Huitzil to determine your worthiness
00:14:43And end your suffering, your heart exposed all the while
00:14:49Is this really my last stroll in the garden?
00:14:53Every one of my life's fondest moments
00:14:56Bloomed alongside the flowers in this garden
00:15:06What happened to Zuma?
00:15:08We were raised to love each other
00:15:09But now he's with my sister?
00:15:11One minute he is kind, the next cruel
00:15:14Does he even want to marry me anymore?
00:15:16Who has Zuma become?
00:15:18What does the future look like with a man like that?
00:15:30I would rather die a horrible death
00:15:32Than be married to a man who burns for my sister
00:15:40Theo, I am here to escort you to the ceremonial vesti
00:15:43For your wedding preparations
00:16:01Claw marks
00:16:05If I die instantly
00:16:06I can escape a slow, painful death
00:16:13Why have they brought me here?
00:16:15I cannot be sacrificed
00:16:18Let me remind you
00:16:19Your groom so selflessly
00:16:22Took my virginity
00:16:23Yes, Malin
00:16:25Which is why he deserves you as his bride
00:16:28I will be Huitzel's sacrifice
00:16:32You'd rather your chest split open
00:16:34Than watch your one and only love desire me
00:16:37For the rest of your woteful life?
00:16:39Smart decision, sister
00:16:40Too bad there's no way you have the guts to follow through
00:16:58You should put it on me
00:16:59Sister dear
00:17:00Of course, sister
00:17:09Solid gold
00:17:11Much more precious than your drabby, beaded one
00:17:25This is it
00:17:25I'm about to be sacrificed to the god of war
00:17:32It's time
00:17:33My groom's lust leads him down the aisle to wed my sister
00:17:36And I shoulder the sacrifice of our city
00:17:39Offering my life to the god of war
00:17:58The emperor and empress decided to keep it a secret that my sister and I switched places
00:18:03I never got to say goodbye to Zuma
00:18:17We bind your clothing as a sign of your marital bonds
00:18:20And public promise to share one body, one heart, one soul
00:18:26You may not remove her mask until the ceremony is finished
00:18:33Something feels off
00:18:34Why can't I see Teo's face
00:19:01This fertile soil from El Popo
00:19:04We'll prime you for your wedding to our son, Zuma, tomorrow
00:19:08Zuma, marrying you is my life's ultimate purpose
00:19:11Marlene
00:19:12Fetch Zuma's gift for Teo

00:21:27How dare you betray me like this
00:21:44What an unfit sacrifice
00:21:50Vile humans
00:21:53I will ruin their city
00:21:55To remind them not to toy with me
00:21:58How dare you betray me like this
00:22:03Who are you?

00:26:20Now that I've seen your radiant soul, I must possess it
00:26:24Either sacrifice yourself willingly and save your city
00:26:31Or I will rain hell down and take you anyway
00:26:43That death and destruction is what will happen if you refuse
00:26:46I will come for you soon
00:26:48You may choose how
00:26:57Teo, you cannot be serious
00:26:59Why would you offer to switch with your sister and be our sacrifice?
00:27:02Because I am still a virgin
00:27:04And my sister is not
00:27:09What do you mean?
00:27:11Who has had her?
00:27:12Your son
00:27:14My betrothed
00:27:15Zuma
00:27:21It can't be
00:27:23Zuma's only ever loved you
00:27:24It doesn't matter now
00:27:26Zuma took Malin's sacred gift
00:27:28So he can marry her in my place
00:27:29I will be sacrificed to the god of war
00:27:32Huitzel's in her place
00:27:33We can't allow you to do that
00:27:35We've invested too much in you as our son's bride
00:27:38It would be wasted if you are sacrificed
00:27:40I will not marry Zuma
00:27:41And Huitzel still requires a sacrifice
00:27:43This is the best path forward
00:27:44We must conceal Teo's identity during the sacrifice
00:27:47As well as Malin's
00:27:51Huitzel and Zuma expect different brides
00:27:54We will host the wedding and sacrificial ceremonies at the same time
00:27:58Three days from now
00:27:59And the identities of the blood offering and the bride shall remain a secret to all
00:28:04Teo, prepare a sacrificial headdress and mask for yourself
00:28:07I will have a bridal covering made for your sister
00:28:12Zuma
00:28:13I hope you are sure of your choice
00:28:15Because once I'm gone
00:28:16You can't change your mind
00:28:22They haven't cancelled Malin's sacrificial ceremony yet
00:28:25She may yet still be offered up to Weedseal
00:28:28Malin is not going to be sacrificed
00:28:30You made sure of that by taking her virginity
00:28:37How could you be angry?
00:28:39I did this for you
00:28:40She's your sister and I saved her
00:28:45And when you warm her bed after our marriage
00:28:46What reason will you give then?
00:28:51Don't be naive
00:28:52Every emperor has concubines
00:28:54You didn't expect to be the only woman I taste
00:28:57For the rest of my life, did you?
00:29:00You're right
00:29:00I was naive
00:29:02I'd hoped I'd be enough
00:29:04But my own sister?
00:29:06Don't you see how wrong that is?
00:29:09Then make sure you satisfy me day and night
00:29:11And I won't touch her again
00:29:15You told me she's the only one you crave now
00:29:18I never said that
00:29:26But Malin is superior to you in every way
00:29:28I wish she'd been the one chosen as my empress
00:29:30And you were the sacrifice
00:29:32Zuma, my dear
00:29:33Be kind to Teo
00:29:34She's not strong enough for this harsh world
00:29:40Get back to work
00:29:41Your wedding is soon
00:29:44You mock me
00:29:45I won't have it
00:29:49Teo
00:29:49Why must you be so violent?
00:29:52Apologize to your sister, Teo
00:29:54I won't let you treat her this way
00:29:58I don't understand, Zuma
00:29:59How can you talk to me like this?
00:30:01Have you forgotten all our moments together?
00:30:08You're a jealous, spiteful girl
00:30:10And I'm ashamed to be engaged to you
00:30:13Apologize now or I'll get the whip
00:30:14And lash you until you do
00:30:21I would rather die than apologize
00:30:23Don't yell at her, Zuma
00:30:24She was raised to be above me
00:30:26Even if she hurt me on purpose
00:30:27It's my lot in life to have such abuse
00:30:29You blame me for doing what I did to save Malon
00:30:32But look at what a good person she is
00:30:34I wish I was marrying her instead
00:30:37You know, Zuma
00:30:39You'll get your wish soon enough
00:30:44I was meant to help rule over my people
00:30:46Instead, I must die for them
00:30:52Still pouting?
00:30:53You've made enough of a show
00:30:54You can drop the act now
00:30:55He still thinks Maline's fall was all my fault
00:30:58I gathered the beads and restrung this
00:31:00Next time, take better care of the gifts I give you
00:31:02Take better care?
00:31:03When you're the one who broke it?
00:31:04Stop making everything a fight
00:31:06Turn around so I can put it on you
00:31:16Do I get a thank you for fixing your necklace for you?
00:31:19Thank you
00:31:21Still trying to win him back?
00:31:23I will enchant him for as long as it takes to destroy you, Teo
00:31:29Now that you have your necklace back, I must go find Malin
00:31:32I want to enjoy her body as much as I can before I'm forced to marry you
00:31:53Got one
00:31:54This will be the perfect pig to roast for tomorrow's wedding
00:32:01Such a violent slaughter
00:32:03And yet, more merciful than mine will be tomorrow
00:32:09My death will not be quick
00:32:12I will be kept alive, chest open for as long as I can bear it
00:32:18Sometimes it takes hours for Huitzil to determine your worthiness
00:32:21And end your suffering, your heart exposed all the while
00:32:27Is this really my last stroll in the garden?
00:32:31Every one of my life's fondest moments
00:32:34Bloomed alongside the flowers in this garden
00:32:44What happened to Zuma?
00:32:46We were raised to love each other
00:32:47But now he's with my sister?
00:32:49One minute he is kind, the next cruel
00:32:51Does he even want to marry me anymore?
00:32:54Who has Zuma become?
00:32:55What does the future look like with a man like that?
00:33:08I would rather die a horrible death
00:33:10Than be married to a man who burns for my sister
00:33:18Teo, I am here to escort you to the ceremonial vesti
00:33:21For your wedding preparations
00:33:39Claw marks
00:33:42If I die instantly
00:33:44I can escape a slow, painful death
00:33:51Why have they brought me here?
00:33:53I cannot be sacrificed
00:33:55Let me remind you
00:33:57Your groom, so selflessly
00:33:59Took my virginity
00:34:01Yes, Malin
00:34:03Which is why he deserves you as his bride
00:34:06I will be Huitzil's sacrifice
00:34:10You'd rather your chest split open
00:34:12Than watch your one and only love desire me
00:34:14For the rest of your woteful life
00:34:17Smart decision, sister
00:34:18Too bad there's no way you have the guts to follow through
00:34:36You should put it on me, sister dear
00:34:38Of course, sister
00:34:47Solid gold
00:34:48Much more precious than your drabby, beaded one
00:35:02This is it
00:35:03I'm about to be sacrificed to the god of war
00:35:10It's time
00:35:11My groom's lust leads him down the aisle to wed my sister
00:35:14And I shoulder the sacrifice of our city
00:35:17Offering my life to the god of war
00:35:36The emperor and empress decided to keep it a secret
00:35:39That my sister and I switched places
00:35:40I never got to say goodbye to Zuma
00:35:54We bind your clothing as a sign of your marital bonds
00:35:58And public promise to share one body, one heart, one soul
00:36:04You may not remove her mask until the ceremony is finished
00:36:11Something feels off
00:36:12Why can't I see Teo's face
00:36:39This fertile soil from El Popo
00:36:41We'll prime you for your wedding to our son, Zuma, tomorrow
00:36:46Zuma, marrying you is my life's ultimate purpose
00:36:49Marlene
00:36:50Fetch Zuma's gift for Teo
00:37:00Please accept this necklace as a token of my love
00:37:02Each bead was taken from a different moment in our lives together
00:37:05Put it on her
00:37:06Put it on her
00:37:10How nice it must be for you, sister, to be the bride
00:37:12Not expendable like me
00:37:21Teo, you should go clean yourself in the bathhouse
00:37:23We will have your bed made with fresh sheets for your last night unwed
00:37:34This memory is from when I was five years old
00:37:37But the marriage was not arranged until we were eleven
00:37:40He must have always known we were destined, as I did
00:37:43I don't want to die
00:37:45You can save me, Zuma
00:37:56I'm to be sacrificed to the god of war on your wedding day
00:37:59But if you take my virginity
00:38:00The offering of my body will be rejected and I'll be saved
00:38:04Marlene, to do so would curse our city
00:38:08Can you watch me die after seeing me so exposed?
00:38:16You are Teo's sister
00:38:18Perhaps saving you from being sacrificed to the god of war
00:38:22Is the right thing to do
00:38:25You can have me whenever you want
00:38:28Even after you're married to my sister
00:38:31If there are nights she cannot please you
00:38:33You can come to me
00:38:35And I will satisfy your every need
00:39:05How dare you betray me like this
00:39:22What an unfit sacrifice
00:39:28Vile humans
00:39:30I will ruin their city
00:39:32To remind them not to toy with me
00:39:35How dare you betray me like this
00:39:40Who are you?
00:39:53You mock Witsel with your actions, Zuma
00:39:55And you mock me as your future wife
00:39:58Of all people
00:39:59My own sister?
00:40:02Mind your tone, sister
00:40:03This is the future emperor you're talking to
00:40:06Remember we live to serve him
00:40:08In every way we physically can
00:40:17Don't make a fuss over this, Teo
00:40:18It changes nothing for us
00:40:24It changes everything, Zuma
00:40:25You have had sex with my sister before me
00:40:28And you have put your own people at risk
00:40:31She was born to be a sacrifice
00:40:32That was always my sister's fate
00:40:34What do you know of sacrifice, Teo?
00:40:36Do you even know how they do it?
00:40:38They keep you alive while they cut your chest open
00:40:40So Witsel can see that your heart is pure
00:40:41Would you cut yourself open for your people?
00:40:44You've never even cut back an hour of sleep
00:40:46Zuma is my hero
00:40:47He saved me
00:40:49Since you've already taken my sister
00:40:50You can keep her
00:40:51Marry her instead
00:40:53I will leave the palace
00:40:54And never stand before you again
00:40:55You're my future bride
00:40:57You do what I say
00:40:58And I say we're still getting married
00:41:01Do you even love me?
00:41:02Of course I do
00:41:03Love and sex are different
00:41:06As emperor
00:41:06I will take many concubines
00:41:08But you
00:41:08Are the only one
00:41:09Who will stand beside me
00:41:10As my wife
00:41:12I can get his body on my own
00:41:14But to make him toss her aside
00:41:16I'll have to use sorcery
00:41:18But I can't get caught
00:41:19Or they'll execute me for witchcraft
00:41:23No
00:41:23Now that I've tasted your sister
00:41:25She's the one I truly crave
00:41:27He's mine now
00:41:28Along with his empire
00:41:46You gave yourself to me willingly
00:41:51But to make sure you stay willing
00:41:54I'll keep you under my spell
00:41:56Yes, my love
00:42:16The god of war knows his sacrifice defied him
00:42:18By betraying me
00:42:20My betrothed and my sister
00:42:21Have damned us all to a terrible fate
00:42:23I have to plead for mercy
00:42:49Quetil is terrifying
00:42:50I cannot disrespect this god
00:42:52Please, Witsid, mighty god of war
00:42:54Spare our city
00:42:55Forgive Malin and Zuma
00:42:56They were selfish and short-sighted
00:42:58When they ruined your sacrifice
00:43:04Who are you to pray for the sin of another?
00:43:18I'm so sorry, my lord
00:43:19What will you do?
00:43:21If you will not offer an appropriate sacrifice
00:43:23Willingly
00:43:24I will take all the sacrifices I desire from your people
00:43:27Until my anger is satisfied
00:43:32Unless an even more appealing sacrifice can be made instead
00:43:35Like you
00:43:38Like you
00:43:38You want me to be your sacrifice, my lord?
00:43:41Yes
00:43:42I need a blood and body tribute
00:43:47To do with as I please
00:43:52But I don't want to die
00:43:55You have no choice
00:43:57Now that I've seen your radiant soul
00:44:00I must possess it
00:44:02Either sacrifice yourself willingly and save your city

00:52:16Of course, sister
00:52:25Solid gold
00:52:26Much more precious than your drabby, beaded one
00:52:40This is it
00:52:41I'm about to be sacrificed to the god of war
00:52:48It's time
00:52:49My groom's lust leads me down the aisle to wed my sister
00:52:52And I shoulder the sacrifice of our city
00:52:54Offering my life to the god of war
00:53:14The emperor and empress decided to keep it a secret that my sister and I switched places
00:53:18I never got to say goodbye to Zuma
00:53:32We bind your clothing as a sign of your marital bonds
00:53:35And public promise to share one body, one heart, one soul
00:53:42You may not remove her mask until the ceremony is finished
00:53:48Something feels off
00:53:50Why can't I see Teo's face?
00:54:17This fertile soil from El Popo will prime you for your wedding to our son
00:54:21Zuma tomorrow
00:54:23Zuma, marrying you is my life's ultimate purpose
00:54:26Marlene
00:54:27Fetch Zuma's gift for Teo
00:54:37Please accept this necklace as a token of my love
00:54:40Each bead was taken from a different moment in our lives together
00:54:43Put it on her
00:54:47How nice it must be for you, sister, to be the bride
00:54:50Not expendable like me
00:54:58Teo, you should go clean yourself in the bathhouse
00:55:00We will have your bed made with fresh sheets for your last night unwed
00:55:11This memory is from when I was five years old
00:55:14But the marriage was not arranged until we were eleven
00:55:17He must have always known we were destined, as I did
00:55:21I don't want to die
00:55:22You can save me, Zuma
00:55:27Stop
00:55:34I'm to be sacrificed to the god of war on your wedding day
00:55:36But if you take my virginity, the offering of my body will be rejected and I'll be saved
00:55:41Marlene, to do so would curse our city
00:55:46Can you watch me die after seeing me so exposed?
00:55:54You are Teo's sister
00:55:56Perhaps saving you from being sacrificed to the god of war is the right thing to do
00:56:02You can have me whenever you want
00:56:06Even after you're married to my sister
00:56:08If there are nights she cannot please you
00:56:11You can come to me
00:56:13And I will satisfy your every need
00:56:43How dare you betray me like this
00:56:59What an unfit sacrifice
00:57:05Vile humans
00:57:08I will ruin their city
00:57:10To remind them not to toy with me
00:57:13How dare you betray me like this
00:57:18Who are you?
00:57:20Who are you?
00:57:23Who are you?
00:57:31You mock Whittle with your actions, Zuma
00:57:33And you mock me as your future wife
00:57:36Of all people
00:57:37My own sister?
00:57:39Mind your tone, sister
00:57:41This is the future emperor you're talking to
00:57:43Remember we live to serve him
00:57:46In every way we physically can
00:57:54Don't make a fuss over this, Teo
00:57:56It changes nothing for us
00:58:01It changes everything, Zuma
00:58:03You have had sex with my sister before me
00:58:05And you have put your own people at risk
00:58:08She was born to be a sacrifice
00:58:10That was always my sister's fate
00:58:12What do you know of sacrifice, Teo?
00:58:14Do you even know how they do it?
00:58:15They keep you alive while they cut your chest open
00:58:17So Whitzel can see that your heart is pure
00:58:19Would you cut yourself open for your people?
00:58:21You've never even cut back an hour of sleep
00:58:24Zuma is my hero
00:58:25He saved me
00:58:27Since you've already taken my sister
00:58:28You can keep her
00:58:29Marry her instead
00:58:30I will leave the palace
00:58:31And never stand before you again
00:58:33You're my future bride
00:58:34You do what I say
00:58:35And I say we're still getting married
00:58:38Do you even love me?
00:58:40Of course I do
00:58:41Love and sex are different
00:58:43As emperor, I will take many concubines
00:58:45But you are the only one
00:58:47Who will stand beside me as my wife
00:58:50I can get his body on my own
00:58:52But to make him toss her aside
00:58:54I'll have to use sorcery
00:58:55But I can't get caught
00:58:57Or they'll execute me for witchcraft
00:59:00No
00:59:01Now that I've tasted your sister
00:59:02She's the one I truly crave
00:59:05He's mine now
00:59:06Along with his empire
00:59:24You gave yourself to me willingly
00:59:28But to make sure you stay willing
00:59:32I'll keep you under my spell
00:59:34Yes, my love
00:59:53The god of war knows his sacrifice defied him
00:59:56By betraying me
00:59:57My betrothed and my sister
00:59:59Have damned us all to a terrible fate
01:00:01I have to plead for mercy
01:00:26Whittil is terrifying
01:00:28I cannot disrespect this god
01:00:30Please, Whitsid, mighty god of war, spare our city
01:00:33Forgive Malin and Zuma
01:00:34They were selfish and short-sighted when they ruined your sacrifice
01:00:42Who are you to pray for the sin of another?
