00:42Senator Bato de la Rosa again urges the Supreme Court to reverse its earlier ruling and stop an International Criminal
00:48Court arrest warrant against him.
00:50In a manifestation on Tuesday, October 27, de la Rosa's lawyer Israelita Torreon asked the SC to urgently rule on
00:57a pending motion for reconsideration they filed in June.
01:00The motion seeks to reverse a May court decision that denied their plea for a temporary restraining order or a
01:06status quo ante order to stop the implementation of the ICC arrest warrant.
01:10A status quo ante order means the court wants things returned to how they were before a disputed action happened
01:16while it decides the case.
01:18De la Rosa's lawyer argued the enforcement posture surrounding the senator had escalated.
01:23It cited the Department of the Interior and local governments' declaration that the senator is armed and dangerous and a
01:2950 million peso bounty was offered for his arrest.
01:32Voting 9-5-1, the SC previously denied de la Rosa's request for a temporary restraining order, saying he had
01:38no clear and unmistakable right to be protected.
01:41The ICC Pre-Trial Chamber 1 issued a warrant against de la Rosa in November last year due to his
01:47role in former President Rodrigo Duterte's drug war.
01:52Philippine Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. tells the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, we must not allow our
01:59differences to divide us from within.
02:01Teodoro was clearly referring to the disputes over the South China Sea that has seen increasing tension between China and
02:07ASEAN nations.
02:08In a fragmenting world, our internal stability and intra-ASEAN unity are vital, perhaps even in the future existential.
02:22The ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting, or ADMM, and the ADMM Plus is an annual gathering of defense ministers from Southeast
02:29Asia and plus countries.
02:31This includes ADMM dialogue partners Australia, China, India, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, Russia, and the United States.
02:39China's Minister of National Defense, Dong Jun, will not be attending ADMM Plus.
02:44Beijing will instead be represented by its defense attache assigned to the Chinese Embassy in Manila.
02:49Regional security as well as block cooperation over issues like disaster risk reduction will be among the key issues defense
02:55officials are expected to tackle in meetings and sideline events.
02:59Ministers are also expected to tackle protection of underwater critical infrastructure, cooperation for food and energy security, and preparedness for
03:07the Super El Niño.
03:10Tycoon Manipangilinan rebrands SP New Energy Corporation, or SPNEC, to EmGen Renewables, Inc.
03:17The Meralco Group is also integrating nearly 5 billion pesos worth of renewable energy businesses into EmGen.
03:22But the makeover can't quite banish the controversial past of Leandro Leviste's Solar Philippines or the 10.34 billion headache
03:30that comes with it.
03:31In December 2025, Energy Secretary Sharon Garin terminated the service contract for SPNEC's 280 MW Santa Rosa Nueva Ecija II
03:40project and demanded 10.34 billion pesos.
03:43Before that, the Department of Energy terminated 33 contracts tied to Leviste's Solar Philippines group and is running after him
03:50for 24 billion pesos in obligations and penalties.
03:53Solar Philippines is the empire Leviste built before Pangilinan's group took control.
03:58Leviste resigned from the board in January and cashed out 3 billion pesos worth of shares.
04:03EmGen insists SPNEC is legally separate from Solar Philippines and not liable for the group's 24 billion pesos obligation.
04:11Aside from the 5 billion pesos injection, EmGen Renewables plans to strengthen its position via a re-IPO in March
04:172027.
04:18Leviste already took SPNEC public in 2021.
04:22Leviste and his mother, Senator Loren Legarda, face graft and plunder complaints involving solar contracts awarded to Leviste-Link companies.
04:29Both deny wrongdoing.
04:33Pentagon data reveals the US military has spent over $47 billion in the war in Iran.
04:39This is more than 25% higher than the Defense Department's estimate in July.
04:43The Pentagon did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment on its estimate, which has not been shared
04:49publicly.
04:50The disclosure about the rising cost of the Iran war comes as Republicans wrestle with the political fallout of the
04:55unpopular conflict ahead of the November 3 election.
04:58The war's impact on global energy costs hurt President Donald Trump's approval ratings and may weigh down Republican candidates.
05:05The Pentagon's latest estimate was tied to the operational costs of carrying out the war with a projected cost of
05:11more than $29 billion to replace expended munitions used in the conflict.
05:16More than $6 billion would be needed to replace military equipment and so-called platform losses including the loss of
05:21aircraft during the war.
05:23Trump launched the Iran war jointly with Israel in February predicting that the conflict would last a short time.
05:31Israel's exit polls indicate a deadlock with Gadi Eisenkot's bloc slightly leading over Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party.
05:38As it stands, there is no clear path to a governing coalition.
05:41The stalemate could yet work in Netanyahu's favor allowing the Prime Minister to remain in power in a caretaker capacity.
05:47Israel's Central Elections Committee says turnout was 77.7%, the highest in more than two decades.
05:54Israel's three major networks updated their exit polls, giving Eisenkot's bloc a two-seat edge over Netanyahu's Likud-led camp
06:01at 52 to 50, respectively.
06:03Some Israeli media outlets, including pro-Netanyahu Channel 14, projected a far stronger showing for Netanyahu and his parties, saying
06:11they would collectively win 60 seats.
06:13It is the first election since the Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023, and the ensuing wars in Gaza,
06:19Lebanon, and Iran.
