00:00Twelve years in prison followed by preventive detention.
00:03That is the sentence handed down to Frank S.
00:06He is accused of drugging and raping women over a period of several years and filming the acts.
00:11Several of the victims appeared as joint plaintiffs behind closed doors.
00:15The organization Terre des Femmes is fighting on their behalf before the criminal court in Berlin.
00:39Many of the victims in this case didn't even know they had been raped.
00:44The perpetrator had spiked their drinks with drugs.
00:59The verdict took into account 22 rapes of 14 women.
01:03After reviewing Frank S.'s video recordings, the police believe he drugged and raped a total of 58 women.
01:08This is another reason why the subsequent preventive detention is so important for the victims.
01:17First of all, it is the protection that has been spoken about, because the connection and the danger, at least
01:24as we are here today, is very clear.
01:30I don't think that it is a new phenomenon, but one that has now been taken to the surface, where
01:35it has now been spoken about, and where it has now been revealed to the extent.
01:41This series of rapes is considered the largest case involving so-called chemical subjugation to date at the Berlin Regional
01:48Court.
01:49German laws against sexual violence were tightened only recently, for example regarding the use of date rape drugs or the
01:55recording of the crimes on video.
