00:00This year's New York City Marathon could be one of the warmest of the past decade, and it starts just
00:04hours after we turn the clocks back.
00:07Racers can expect mostly sunny skies and light winds, with temperatures near 50 for the earliest starts and lower 60s
00:13by the afternoon.
00:14A high of 63 would make it the third warmest marathon day of the past 10 years.
00:20For spectators lining the route, layers will help as a cool morning gives way to a warmer afternoon.
00:24And while the time change offers a chance for an extra hour of sleep, there's a trade-off.
00:28Sunset arrives an hour earlier by the clock, so runners and spectators staying into the evening should plan for darkness.
00:35But here's a fun fact.
00:36One study found marathon performance tended to suffer after the spring clock change, but showed little to no decline when
00:42clocks fell back in autumn.
00:44Extra rest, sunshine, and the energy of marathon day.
00:48Good luck and enjoy those bagels.
