00:00Hi, I'm Jenna Ortega, and I'm here to answer an excessive amount of questions.
00:08All right, let's see.
00:10How do you pronounce your name? Why were you given that name?
00:13My name is Jenna, and that's how you pronounce it.
00:15I was given that name because my mom decided she liked that name.
00:19What's the most ridiculous thing you've purchased for your dog?
00:21I don't know, she has like three passports.
00:24That's not normal, and she's spoiled.
00:27What's the longest you've gone without taking a break from work?
00:29I don't know, probably nine years, and those are the nine years of my life I didn't work.
00:34What was your experience reading Clara and the Sun for the first time?
00:37Anything regarding the sister Sal was really fascinating to me and kind of uncharted territory.
00:43I hadn't read anything like that before, and that was really exciting to me.
00:47Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
00:49I think I could be an extrovert, but I present introverted.
00:55Do you have a favorite dinosaur?
00:58I don't want to say pterodactyl just because they have wings and they fly.
01:01I also like that the spelling is really messed up.
01:05Like that's evil.
01:06That's an evil thing to do, and I like that.
01:08Rank the following projects based on how much you liked your haircut in them.
01:11Wednesday, Clara and the Sun, Death of Unicorn, Beetlejuice.
01:14Wednesday, Clara, Beetlejuice, Death of Unicorn.
01:18The dip dye on Death of Unicorn was pretty egregious.
01:21Do you have any tattoos?
01:22Show us.
01:22I have one tattoo right here that's a little faint lightning bolt that I got with a group
01:27of other people that is based off of an inside joke.
01:32Oh, and I used to have one on my toe.
01:34I had like the celestial star on my toe, but it washed off instantly.
01:38And then I got a redone and then it washed off instantly again.
01:42It's a terrible thing.
01:42What's the most heartfelt gift you've ever received from a loved one?
01:46I mean, I've received some pretty incredible scrapbooks.
01:49I like books of things.
01:51That's a lot of time and effort.
01:52If you need help with something, who do you call first?
01:55I don't really call anyone and I think that's my problem.
01:57Like I tough it out and try to do it myself and it's okay to rely on others.
02:02Would you ever consider cloning your dog?
02:04Nope.
02:05Who in your family do you think you take after the most?
02:09I think I'm maybe the most like my older sister, Mariah, and she's very dry and sarcastic.
02:14I haven't touched this pile.
02:16I don't think so.
02:17I'm touching this one.
02:18What's your most Clara-coded trait?
02:19I get really excited about really, really small things.
02:22I can go wake up in the middle of night and get a glass of water and look at the
02:25bubbles
02:26forming in the glass as the water hits the glass and find that to be really beautiful and exciting.
02:32Little things like that.
02:33Clara appreciates everything.
02:35You were in three separate McDonald's commercials as a child.
02:38In which do you think you gave your best performance?
02:40I don't remember any of them except that they kept making me eat apples.
02:45What is your earliest memory from childhood?
02:48My younger brother and sister were screaming crying because I fell into a cooking pot that was
02:54on the floor nearby.
02:56And my parents took a photo and the kids were just screaming and I thought oh wow they're really
02:59scared I'm just sitting in a pot.
03:00I didn't know that it was a pot.
03:02Who was your style icon growing up?
03:04Myself.
03:04I actually had a pretty intense sense of style when I was younger.
03:07What's your favorite smell?
03:09I like wood.
03:11Wooden things.
03:12I also really love jasmine.
03:13Jasmine might be my favorite flower.
03:15What's a nickname that a loved one calls you?
03:18People do call me things.
03:22I'm not scared of getting hurt.
03:24I just would like to see it.
03:25No, no, no.
03:26Just do it.
03:26Just do it.
03:27Oh, it stopped.
03:32Can I catch one?
03:33Just keep going.
03:34That's insane.
03:35How many pillows do you need in your bed?
03:37Oh, who's counting?
03:39If you had to give up one of your five senses, which would you pick and why?
03:43I don't know.
03:43Maybe smell.
03:44You're setting out for a four hour road trip.
03:46What snacks are in the car?
03:47Just talking the other day about sunflower seeds being a good one.
03:50You want something that you could pick at like pistachios as well.
03:54I also really like eating fruit on curbs.
03:57So like if you had an apple or a juicy plum of sorts to pull over and just sit and
04:02eat a messy fruit.
04:03I think it's a luxury in life.
04:05What's the nerdiest thing about you?
04:08I don't know.
04:09I can be nerdy, but I don't know like what's the nerdiest.
04:13How did I build chemistry with Mia before filming?
04:16Chemistry with Mia was really easy to form.
04:18She's a very interesting person.
04:20And Taika had a lot of dinners at his house to kind of get everyone familiar with one another.
04:26And we would just go and we'd sit out in his yard and talk for a really long time.
04:30What piece of decor in your home are you most proud of?
04:34I have a couple original posters.
04:36Like I have an original poster from the release of Withnail and I that I'm really proud of.
04:41Same thing with Possession, same thing with Taxi Driver.
04:44Do small children ever recognize you in public?
04:47What did they say?
04:48You know when little kids have those like goggles for glasses so they don't fall off their heads?
04:53Still one of the cutest interactions I've ever had in my life was this little boy who had those
04:56glasses who didn't say anything.
04:58Jumped up and down and hugged my thigh for a really long time.
05:03It was so sweet.
05:03We were like that for maybe five minutes.
05:05It made me want to cry.
05:06Apparently they say nothing but give really fantastic hugs.
05:10Favorite costume I got to wear in the Taste music video?
05:12What did I wear?
05:13There were so many quick changes that day.
05:15Honestly, the funeral looks were pretty amazing.
05:18And I had this Vivian Westwood corset on with a veil and it just looked really nice next to Sabrina's.
05:25Who on your team do you text with the most?
05:27Probably Enrique because he's my stylist and he's also just a very close friend of mine.
05:35Who is shorter, you or Sabrina Carpenter?
05:37Sabrina, haha.
05:38What is the smallest animal you've ever pet?
05:40I recently met a barn owl that was three days old.
05:44Tiny thing.
05:45What's a tiny detail you loved on the set of Claret in the Sun?
05:48I just love the mechanical birds that Rick plays with.
05:51I just like the look of them.
05:52Do I collect any mini figures?
05:55No, but should I?
05:56What's a little treat you'd never say no to?
05:59I love squares of like dark chocolate or like chocolate-covered almonds.
06:05I'm really into that.
06:06What do people call you for short?
06:08A lot of people call me Jay.
06:11Some people call me Joe.
06:13And then like the most obvious one that I think is the most common one is some people call me
06:17Jen.
06:17Shortest shoot you've ever been on?
06:19This one.
06:21Actually, you know what?
06:21The shortest shoot I've ever been on I think was The Fallout when I was 16.
06:29And I think it was like a 17 or 18 day shoot, which is insane for a film.
06:35The shortest person you've acted in a scene with?
06:37I think I once did...
06:38Oh, person.
06:39I was gonna say I once did a scene with a pig.
06:42Like a literal baby pig.
06:43A little pig that was super cute.
06:45It was very loud.
06:46Which of the chinchillas you fostered was the smallest?
06:49I had a chinchilla named Basil who was a little boy and he was very tiny.
06:55Like that felt like the size of him.
06:57Tiny little thing.
06:57Well, also I fostered a mother and two sons.
07:01The sons had just been born.
07:03So they were they were fresh.
07:04How small was your dog as a puppy?
07:06I really like these animal questions.
07:08She was quite tall actually.
07:09She was like a little bear.
07:11Maybe like that big.
07:12I can't remember.
07:13Time flies.
07:14Did you have any dolls growing up?
07:15Yeah, I had a lot of those Monster High dolls that are like Barbies but the zombie werewolf versions.
07:23I really loved those as a kid.
07:25Do you think you could ever live in a tiny home?
07:26Yeah, of course.
07:28What is the smallest country you've ever visited?
07:31I think we're pretty small.
07:32No, you're not the smallest.
07:35You can't be the smallest.
07:36I mean, Costa Rica is pretty small.
07:38What's the shortest amount of time you need to get ready in the morning?
07:40I really don't need a lot of time to get ready in the morning.
07:43I could wake up 15 minutes before I have to be in the car for work.
07:46It's that simple for me.
07:48Claire is solar powered.
07:49What's one thing that you would say that you are powered by?
07:52I am powered by long walks in new cities.
07:57What is your phone lock screen image?
07:58A woman suspended on the moon.
08:00Like cradling the moon.
08:01You've seen a lot of fake blood in your career.
08:03Which project had the most realistic?
08:05Probably my first instance with fake blood,
08:07just because I'd never seen anything like it before.
08:10And it actually was mint flavored pancake syrup.
08:14And it tasted real great.
08:15Do you watch any sports?
08:16If so, what teams do you root for?
08:18Not so much, but if I can, I do try to watch soccer or football.
08:22I root for FC Barcelona probably,
08:24but that's because that's just the household I grew up in.
08:28Do you have a plan in place for the end of the world?
08:29If so, can you share any details?
08:32No, I think I'll probably just wing it.
08:33Have you ever worn a disguise in public?
08:35Did it work?
08:36No, I have not worn a disguise in public.
08:39When you are invited to a dinner party,
08:41what food or drink do you bring?
08:42I'll bring a bottle of wine or flowers.
08:46Did you have to practice your autograph?
08:47I first signed something when I was nine for work.
08:52And it's pretty much been the exact same ever since.
08:55I remember getting older and realizing that people
08:57were getting creative with it and thinking.
09:00I didn't know that that was an option.
09:02It was like stage names.
09:03Like nobody told me that you could do that.
09:05My favorite childhood stuffed animal, what was their name?
09:08It was a gift from my mother that belonged to my grandfather.
09:11So it was his bear that he then gave to her,
09:15that she then gave to me.
09:16So it's nameless.
09:18I never knew what the name was and I don't think she named him.
09:21So it's just a general bear, but sweet to me.
09:25Do you believe in feng shui?
09:26If so, do you think your home has good feng shui?
09:28I do believe in feng shui.
09:30I used to when I would join projects.
09:33You live in these hotel rooms for months.
09:35To make them more comfortable, I would change around the furniture
09:37and try to make it something that felt good to me.
09:40I think my home's all right.
09:41I think there's a lot of places to sit.
09:44That's all that matters.
09:46Sometimes you just want to take a seat.
09:48When you have a free day, how do you like to spend it?
09:51I like to go for long walks with my dog.
09:53I like to read if I can.
09:55I like to watch a movie, maybe go to dinner with some friends.
10:03There you go.
10:05If you were to get an artificial feng for yourself,
10:08how would you go about picking one out at the store?
10:10I'm sorry, but I don't feel like shopping for a friend.
10:13That just doesn't feel like a healthy thing to do.
10:17What special features would you want the AF to have?
10:21I would want my normal human friend to be a kind person, a good listener,
10:26someone with a sense of humor doesn't take themselves too seriously.
10:30What do you hope that audiences take away from Claire and the Sun?
10:33I think it's really important to look after and be interested in the world.
10:38It's important to be present, to look at others with compassion and empathy
10:44and lack of judgment and be okay with not knowing or having all of the answers.
10:53If you're feeling competitive, we can see how many you get through today.
10:56I'm not a competitive person.
10:58I think everybody should have their own place and a platform.
