00:00The Bears are reportedly sending two first-round picks for Jeffrey Simmons.
00:04ESPN's Adam Schefter, citing sources, says Chicago is getting the Titans' defensive tackle in a trade.
00:11Tennessee would receive first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, plus a 2027 fourth-rounder.
00:18The Bears would also get a 2028 fifth-round pick back, and neither team has officially announced the deal yet.
00:25Simmons is 29, and he's coming off a first-team All-Pro season with a career-high 11 sacks.
00:31He already has four sacks in seven games this year.
00:34He's a four-time Pro Bowler with 46.5 career sacks.
00:38The timing is what stands out, because the Titans signed him in June to a three-year, $105.8 million
00:45extension, with $100 million guaranteed.
00:49That contract runs through 2030, so Chicago isn't just renting him for a playoff push.
00:54They're taking on a long-term commitment, and they're paying a big price in picks to do it.
01:00Is two first-rounders plus a fourth too much for a defensive tackle, or is this exactly the kind of
01:06swing the Bears needed?
