00:00Now, it's a sit-down with Rachel Bilson.
00:01Hi, Rachel!
00:03Your new movie, Christmas at the Kringles, was truly something else.
00:07We loved it.
00:08When a comedy horror Christmas cult movie script arrives on Rachel Bilson's desk,
00:12how quickly do you say yes?
00:14It was a very quick and easy yes.
00:16Not only because Kevin Lewis was directing and Ron Livingston was attached,
00:20just the idea of it sounded so fun.
00:23I love Christmas.
00:24I love comedy.
00:25I like horror.
00:26And then I put them all together and then I love them all.
00:28I guess we're done Christmas at the Kringles.
00:31The cast must have had you howling between takes.
00:34Between Donald Faison, Rob Riggle, Ron Livingston, and Thomas Lennon,
00:38who made you break the most?
00:39The set was just constant hysteria, laughing.
00:44I've never laughed harder.
00:46Thomas Lennon and Arden Morin together, it was the most I have ever laughed.
00:53I'm going to give credit to those two in particular.
01:04This movie comes out the night before Halloween.
01:07Is your daughter Briar Rose allowed to watch while mom steals her Halloween candy?
01:11Or is Briar Rose unbothered by your work?
01:14My daughter cannot watch it.
01:16She's not a big fan of anything scary or bloody, and there might be both in this movie.
01:22But I do still try to steal her candy and distract her in other ways.
01:26Not that she doesn't care about my projects, but she's just like, I'm mom.
01:30I tried to show her, I think, Heart of Dixie because I felt like that was the most harmless.
01:34And she was just like, mom, you're kissing a boy and this is just like adults talking and just not
01:39so into it.
01:41This interview will actually air on her 12th birthday.
01:44At 11 slash 12 years old, is she still into Halloween?
01:48So my daughter, her birthday is October 29th.
01:52Happy birthday, Briar.
01:54She is a Halloween baby.
01:56And last year she convinced me that she wanted to be a Squishmallow and she wanted me to match.
02:01Well, night of Halloween, who was a Squishmallow and who wasn't?
02:06I think you get where I'm going with this.
02:09She abandoned me and I Squishmallowed myself all the way up the street for trick-or-treating while she was
02:15a mutton.
02:17You're not in one, but two fan-fave shows, The O.C. and Heart of Dixie.
02:22How does being a permanent double stamp in pop culture feel?
02:26Whoa, am I a permanent double stamp in pop culture?
02:30I don't know.
02:31What is Seth Cohen doing with Tinkerbell?
02:33She's from Pittsburgh.
02:35That's like the 909 of the East.
02:37I just think it's really cool that people like the shows and that even younger kids are discovering the O
02:43.C.
02:43And other people are rediscovering the O.C.
02:45And when people tell me that, I think it's really, really awesome.
02:48If you needed to bury a body, would you call Summer Roberts a Zoe heart?
02:52If I needed to bury a body, I would 100% call Summer Roberts.
02:56You know what else is undeniable?
02:58What?
02:59The pain this fork is going to cause when I jam it into your eye.
03:02Who would you rather go to a dive bar with?
03:04Zoe and her Rammer Jammer days.
03:07I mean, I want to go to the Rammer Jammer with Zoe.
03:10Which cast would win in a fight?
03:12I'm going to put my money on the O.C. cast.
03:14Welcome to the O.C.
03:16And Seth, not so much.
03:18But, like, Ryan will make up for that.
03:20Who are you?
03:21Whoever you want me to be.
03:23We think about this a lot.
03:24We perceive your life in the spotlight as grounded and control and positive.
03:29Looking back, who influenced you the most while navigating fame?
03:33I would say I have a really good mom.
03:35She's a really good mom.
03:36Both of my parents, though, growing up, very grounded.
03:41Didn't want me to start acting until I finished school.
03:44My dad's side of the family is in this business.
03:46So they also taught me to do my job and do it well.
03:51So I looked at it, I guess, a little differently.
03:53But I just have really good friends.
03:54They've been my best friends for 30 years.
03:56Really great family.
03:57My brother, my sisters, everyone.
03:59I have an awesome support group.
04:01If your daughter was up against what you were, what advice would you give her?
04:06What advice would I give her?
04:07Don't do it.
04:08No, I'm just kidding.
04:10I would just say, you know, she's such a kind human.
04:13And I think that because you start with kindness, that's the best advice you can give anyone going through anything
04:19in this world.
04:20Is that's how you want to show up every day.
04:22So I think that's the advice I would give, which is the advice I give her anyway.
04:26Alrighty, to wrap up, tell everyone why they should check out Christmas at the Kringles.
04:31Everyone should go see Christmas at the Kringles, which is out October 30th.
04:36We had the best time making it.
04:37And I really just want you to go and have a laugh.
