00:00Hey guys, I'm Serena Kerrigan, the Queen of Confidence, and welcome to my sweet digs.
00:06Come inside, but before you come in here, this is a positive space, okay, so you cannot
00:10speak badly by yourself, because you look beautiful, come on in.
00:14I'm Serena Kerrigan, I'm a video producer and host at Refinery29, and you can also see
00:19me all over social media as the Queen of Confidence, where I inspire my followers to stop caring
00:25what people think, because life is too short to not love yourself, okay?
00:28I live in a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment on the Lower East Side.
00:32My roommate Sarvi and I have known each other since middle school, and then she came to
00:35my quinceanera in high school, and we went to Duke together, so we're best friends, we've
00:40been friends for a very long time.
00:41I really do love this apartment, I feel incredibly privileged and lucky to live here, even though
00:46I had to survive my mom being like, where are you?
00:48Come home, now!
00:50I picked the opposite of part of town, so my mom's on the Upper West Side, and I picked
00:53the Lower East Side, so it's like, could I get any farther?
00:56She was like, Serena, why did you pick such a far place away from me?
00:59And I'm like, it was on purpose.
01:01My mom is from Argentina, and that was my best job doing her accent.
01:05So our rent is a little over $5,000 a month, which is absurd.
01:09Although I do think that this apartment is incredibly expensive, I've been saving up for
01:14two years, and because this is my big first city apartment, which is super exciting for
01:19me because I'm a born and bred New Yorker, I think it's worth it.
01:22It's still really expensive, but the caveat is this, it's two-bedroom, two-bathroom!
01:29I have my own bathroom?
01:30What?
01:31It's brand new.
01:32There's a doorman, gym, library spaces, two decks, and a 360-degree view of the city.
01:39I do want to say that I went on a date with someone who lives in this building, and I
01:44suggest
01:45highly to not do that.
01:47That's it.
01:48So this is Sarvi's room.
01:49I love Sarvi so much as my roommate because we're both really clean, we're both actually
01:54always pretty much in a good mood, we're both very positive people, this is a positive space.
01:59Oh, there's a roommate, oh, there's a roommate!
02:03But also because we support one another a lot, and we have real conversations about our relationships
02:08and our careers, and we really listen to each other, and actually can't stop talking.
02:12Sarvi pays a little more than me and rent because she has her bathroom inside her room,
02:17and I would say the number one benefit of that is not having to do the, like, naked hop
02:23from the bathroom to your bedroom, but I don't mind.
02:26Call me a bunny.
02:28So I feel like one of the major key differences between our room is that my room is filled
02:32with romance novels, like How to Find Mr. Right, and Sarvi's books are complete investment
02:37banker, fundamentals of corporate valuation, she's very smart.
02:42And I was just looking on her bedside table, and look what I found, it's an invitation to
02:47my 25th birthday party.
02:48It shows you that my obsession with her is mutual.
02:51The amazing thing about me and Sarvi just were best friends, and being roommates has only really
02:56brought us closer, and, like, I just love her so much, I mean, maybe it's because she's
03:02a Capricorn and I'm an Aries, I don't know.
03:04This is my room.
03:05I really wanted to make sure that my room reflected me and my space, and it was just, like, a
03:12sanctuary
03:12for me.
03:13I know nothing about interior design, except that I knew that I wanted my room to be chic,
03:18pink, cozy, and cute.
03:21Fit for a queen, you might say.
03:23I partnered up with this amazing company called Home Polish that pairs you up with a designer,
03:27and they come and see the space, and they tell you what to buy.
03:30Amazing.
03:31Shout out to Tanisha, love you, girl.
03:33And I love, love, love my room.
03:37I light some candles, I've actually gotten back into reading, not memes, books.
03:42I have three photos on my dresser.
03:45One is of my parents when they were together, and they got divorced when I was two, so this
03:50is, like, a rare photo, but it's really sweet.
03:52And then one of me and my nana, and then one of me and my dog George, who I grew
03:56up with
03:57and I love.
03:58My favorite, favorite, favorite piece in my room is this lamp.
04:02My dad gave it to me when I went to college, and it's actually his lamp from when he was
04:0611 years old, and he was sent to boarding school in England.
04:09When I think about it, I think about perseverance.
04:11I think about how it must have been really scary for my dad to go to a completely new country,
04:17away from his parents, you know, at boarding school at 11 years old.
04:21So when I look at it and think, wow, my dad was able to get through that and be the
04:24wonderful
04:24person he is, then I can be too.
04:27Something that was really important for me that I invested a lot of money in was beautiful,
04:32big mirrors.
04:33Something that I think is major, major, major in building up your confidence is literally
04:37saying positive affirmations to your mirror.
04:39The mirror is from CB2.
04:40I highly recommend.
04:41I think it has like magical powers.
04:43Some of the mantras I say are, you're worthy, you're hilarious, you deserve everything you
04:50want in this world.
04:51I think I'm going to make myself cry.
04:53Do you have a tissue?
04:57Let me take you to the bathroom.
04:58When we were looking for apartments, like I was like, there's no way we're going to
05:02not share a bathroom.
05:03That's crazy.
05:04And Sarvi was pretty adamant about having your own bathroom.
05:06And now I see why.
05:08First of all, I can't even fit all the beauty products in my bathroom.
05:12I can't even imagine sharing with her.
05:14I got this shelving unit from Target because I needed more space.
05:18I added some shelves from Amazon as well.
05:21This is what I call good design.
05:25Oh, you look good.
05:28Having my own bathroom is dope.
05:29Also a bathtub.
05:31Like I didn't take a bath since like 2013.
05:32Like I was ready.
05:34I was like...
05:36And here's the living room and kitchen all in one.
05:40The kitchen.
05:41What a place.
05:43Can't say I've used it a lot.
05:44I've been really active about trying to microwave more, you know, not order in,
05:49but at least have things to microwave.
05:55That's not a value that was taught to me growing up.
05:58My parents are workaholics.
05:59They're about their art.
06:00They're about what they produce and make and they're creators.
06:03And they're just not creators in the kitchen.
06:05They express their creativity through their work.
06:09And that was what was ingrained in me.
06:10So I'm not embarrassed to say that I don't cook.
06:13Okay.
06:13If you open my fridge, you will see that you will never be thirsty.
06:18Welcome to SFK's Bodega.
06:20What would you like?
06:21Would you like a protein shake, a green juice, a collagen water,
06:24flavored water, seltzer water, champagne.
06:28Anything you want, I will quench that thirst.
06:37So should we see the rest of the apartment?
06:39A lot of the furniture in our living room is actually from Sarvi's apartment from college.
06:44So it's great.
06:45I mean, our design style was, what do we have?
06:49Weirdly, our couch fit perfectly.
06:52This is our couch from our apartment in New York.
06:54It literally fit perfectly into this space.
06:56Like, hallelujah.
06:58I think it's kind of this like cozy, modern, chic style.
07:01A lot of pink accents with the marble, with the white.
07:05I'm not an interior designer.
07:07I think one of the most expensive things I supported on this apartment was the TV.
07:10We have a really nice small dining room table, which isn't actually where we dine.
07:13It's where I get my glam squad, baby.
07:17Literally, we'd never eat that table.
07:18It's literally for glam.
07:22And the mirrors.
07:23I think the mirrors were really important.
07:26Having a good mirror is epic.
07:27And it started the SFK mirror challenge.
07:30No one can leave this apartment without doing an SFK mirror challenge, which really is simply this.
07:35This is the SFK mirror challenge.
07:40You just witnessed what I do every time I wear a fire outfit.
07:44I walk, I strut, and I pose.
07:49And you're lucky that you're not in here because I would make you do it with me.
07:51I love this apartment.
07:52I love my roommate.
07:53I love my mirror.
07:54Love my lamp.
07:56Love myself.
07:57So, I'm happy.
07:58You're lucky.
08:01I love the ней sex project.
08:02I love you.
08:02You're lucky.
08:03I love me.
08:03Aãy subscribe gift from YouTube and jeep.
08:03See you next time inside.
08:04Bye.
08:04Bye-bye.
08:04Bye.
