00:00Hi guys, I'm Lexi. I'm hanging out here in LA with a woman who needs no
00:05introduction. We'll introduce me anyway just in case though. It is the Kerry
00:10Washington. Hi everybody. We're here for a very important Neutrogena launch that
00:18we're gonna get to in a second. But first we're here to talk all things beauty.
00:22When you first came on to represent Neutrogena there wasn't a foundation
00:25shade that matched your complexion. That is true. And now there is. Yes. What are the
00:29plans to further expand the foundation range so it can suit more women? When I
00:33first joined the company Neutrogena was really invested in growing the foundation
00:38line and growing the cosmetics line in general. But also continuing to grow the
00:43line to be more inclusive is a priority for the company and for me. How does
00:47beauty make you feel empowered? The key to the link between beauty and empowerment
00:51is to always remember that beauty is something that you have. It's not
00:55something that you have to get. It's not something that somebody gives you. Not
00:58even Neutrogena. Beauty is yours. You're born beautiful. And so the key is to finding
01:03people and products and elements in your life that help you feel in touch with
01:09that beauty. That make you remember that truth of who you are. What is the best
01:13thing that you did for your skin when you were younger that you're so glad that
01:17you did today? Well I have to say I've always used Sunblock and there's a lot of
01:22kind of misconceptions in communities of color. Black people and Latino people that
01:27you don't have to use Sunblock if you're a person of color and that is not true. It's
01:30super important. During awards season your fans got to see with your natural
01:34texture on a few different red carpets. What inspired this? What was the
01:38reaction and is it a preview of more to come? Yeah I mean I feel like having
01:44textured hair is really so fun because there's nothing that our hair can't do.
01:49Like it can be curly, it can be straight, it can be big, it can be flat and I think
01:54a lot of
01:54times we sort of buy into this idea that we have to look a certain way to be
01:59considered beautiful and I think any time I can kind of expand what the
02:03definition of my own beauty means to me I feel more comfortable in the world. So
02:07you seem very very very close to your glam squad. Yes I am. They're friends. They're
02:12not just glam squad, they're my sisters. Do you ever hit up your hair stylist
02:17to Keisha's Durdevant Drew for after hours advice and what do you text her? Because we're
02:22friends yeah we wind up sending hair picture inspirations at like 3 in the
02:26morning depending on where in the world we are. We're always communicating about
02:30what we love and looks we like and kind of what other folks are doing that we
02:33find inspiring. What about your longtime makeup artist Carola Gonzalez? Do you do
02:38the same thing with her? We have a lot of fun because we work but we play. So we
02:42also have a little surprise today which is that Carola Gonzalez is here and
02:45she's going to pop in and show us how Carrie gets her two-tone lip look that she
02:49wears in the red carpet all the time. This is Carola, a longtime makeup artist.
02:53So one of my favorites is this shade because it's a very good neutral for
02:59everyday use. Every single person can wear this color. It complements all skin tones and it's
03:04actually the one that she's wearing right now. Are you wearing it too? Yes. Yeah so
03:07we're both wearing it. You can blend them really well so we don't even have to
03:11take this off to show you how you can pop a daytime color into a more evening look.
03:16Cool. And you just take the other lip color and add a little more pop. I'm gonna
03:22keep it a little bit more sheer because it's daytime. See how pretty? Two colors
03:28you can do it at home although Carola's not included but you can figure it out.
03:32Awesome. Thank you so much for hanging out with us today. Thank you for having us. Yay!
03:36So good to see you. Yeah you too. Alright thanks guys so much. We'll see you later.
