00:00Hey guys, this is Nian, beauty writer at Friday 29, and this is Beauty in a Snap.
00:04So I have three co-workers here who each have very different skin tones, but one
00:08very common problem, which is the difficulty of finding foundations at the
00:12drugstore that match them. I got three foundations from the drugstore that I
00:15personally really like, that I think you might be familiar with, and I'm going to
00:19help my friends get color matched. We both know that it's really hard to find
00:25drugs or foundation that matches. What would you say is your biggest problem?
00:28My biggest problem is that I'm pretty pale and sort of neutral toned, and I have a
00:33lot of trouble finding drugstore shades that match without being able to test
00:36them all. A lot of them turn out too yellow on me, or just too dark.
00:40It's just a little bit too yellow or too pink, and it's like, dries out my skin a lot.
00:44Especially being someone obviously with brown skin, the choices are just a little
00:48more limited. So when I'm going in, I'm having to, you know, scour the shelves to
00:51look for something that'll match my skin tone, and you don't have the option to
00:55try on, which makes it even harder. I got a few foundations for you.
00:59So we have a warmer skin tone, but if you guys don't know how to figure it out, you
01:04can test it really easily, and I like to call it the vein test. Depending on what
01:08color your veins are, that will help you determine your undertone. So my veins are
01:13kind of bluish and greenish. If you have blue veins, it means that you kind of have
01:18a rosier, pinker undertone. If they're green, you have more of a yellow base undertone. If
01:22you have a mixture of the two, you have a more neutral skin tone, which means you can
01:26kind of get away with wearing either kind of foundation. Mine are definitely on the
01:31green side. So you definitely have more of a yellow undertone, so you might want to gravitate
01:35toward more yellow, less pink foundations. Right. You have a lot of green here as well.
01:41I think that you obviously know that you like yellow foundations already, so we should try
01:45to test these out. Let's start with the lightest one. This is Ivory. I think I'll go with the
01:51darker tone first, so I think I can use some of these to sort of blend out and lighten
01:55them to match me. Yeah. So most people think that you can swatch your foundation on your
01:59hand and you're good to go. That's not always the case. You know, different colors of our
02:04skin, on different parts of our body. So I always think that if you want to get a true face
02:08and neck match, you want to do it on your jawline here. Yes. Perfect. And then do it to the
02:15next
02:15foundation you have. And then you do it to the last foundation. So let's see if we blend
02:24them into your skin. Yep. What kind of effect that has. You're going to want to go with the
02:28foundation that just disappears into your skin. It looks like I don't even have any makeup on
02:33in this second one. Exactly. I think that might be the winner. I think that's the winner.
02:36The warm nude beige. I think this one's working best. It's blending in really nice and it's
02:41light. The other one was a little bit too ivory and the other one was too dark. I think
02:45that beautifully bronze shade is a pretty good match for you. I think this is my match.
02:49I'm pretty excited about trying it out. I know. I'm excited to see what it looks like
02:53because it'll give us a better picture.
03:01How do you like it? I really like this because it's really lightweight. I've been using the
03:06same makeup since high school. And so it's kind of nice finding like a new foundation
03:11that's blending with my skin, feels light and not too heavy. What do you think?
03:16Nancy has amazing skin to begin with. Thank you. Does she need foundation? No. Now that
03:21I have a drugstore brand that's a pretty perfect match, honestly, I think I could try doing drugstore
03:28foundations and concealers. It's sort of the one thing I've stayed away from in the drugstore
03:32realm where I love mascaras. It's really blending into your skin really well. What are your overall
03:37thoughts? Would you purchase this foundation? Yeah, I think it's a great substitute for what my
03:42higher end powder would be. It's definitely cost efficient. It's under 10 bucks. And what's
03:47so great about it being such an affordable foundation is you can buy a few and, you know,
03:51throughout the year if you need to color match, if you need to mix the foundations, it's really
03:54easy to. You can just put it on the back of your hand a few pumps. If you're feeling like
03:58it's a little bit too light or too dark, you can add a little bit more of the darker shade,
04:00the lighter shade. So it's really nice to be able to customize your foundation in a way
04:04that isn't going to like totally break the bank. Thanks so much for watching, guys. As you can see,
04:09there are many, many foundations at the drugstore and you can definitely find one that works
04:13for you through trial and error. See you next time.
