00:02who do you think sees you in your most natural self and how do you think they
00:09see you in their eyes I would probably save my other half sees me with no
00:13makeup hair in a bun and even on days I don't feel like myself I think he'd
00:18probably just say you look beautiful what about yourself definitely friends
00:23and family they forget quite a lot that I don't have any hair and they'll
00:26actually say little things like oh god you know when you're brushing your hair
00:30and then they're like oh god sorry you haven't got any they totally forget and
00:33I love that I think that is so lovely that it's not a thing because it
00:37doesn't need to be a thing when was the first time you felt seen I've had
00:43alopecia since I was six always used to wear hats or wigs all the time I had one
00:50of my best friends round after school and we used to play dance mat and I was
00:55wearing my wig but it was so hot I just ripped off my wig I was like Jade I
01:00can't wear it anymore I'm hot and I'm sweaty she looked at me obviously and
01:03that would have been the first time that she would have seen me without my hair on
01:06and we were just crying with laughter a moment where I felt seen how about you
01:12I know everyone always saw me but what they saw was always my burns the first time
01:18that someone actually saw me for who I am and just been like yeah whatever I
01:23I think it was when I met other kids that actually had burns because we all
01:29went away to this camp I think it was just the moment of like urea yeah you know
01:34you're like when you're not alone and and you could just be a kid what do you do
01:40to invest in your own self-esteem 2020 it's been a weird year take some time out
01:46to just do some self-care get my face washes in I also go out and make sure I get
01:52my exercise in as
01:53well appreciate the small things and the achievements of the day the week and just
01:58reconnecting with friends and family that you often don't really have the time for
02:02I've done that I think that's been a big thing from lockdown and this year in general is that it's
02:10been a reminder to kind of reach back out to people that I maybe didn't spend enough time
02:15with before and that always makes me feel good what does self-esteem mean to you just feeling
02:22self-confidence and feeling okay in myself that who I am as a person is enough I do sometimes still
02:30worry about kind of people beyond my circle but I think that's just something that as we kind of
02:37grow up as people you care less I think it's definitely just taking time to just pause and
02:42not compare it's more admire what other people are doing because at the moment you can be so
02:48absorbed in what everybody else is doing on social media that you forget about all the small
02:52achievements that you've made if you could give advice to your younger self what would it be it's
02:58not going to matter you're going to look back and the worries that you've got now or whatever it's
03:02just not going to be relevant at all everyone has got their own worries everyone has got their own
03:10insecurities whether you can see it from the outside or not I'd probably say going forward there's going
03:17to be a lot of challenges but embrace them and just run with it use it as ammunition and add
03:22some
03:23flavor to it not to look for reassurance from everybody else to make sure you're doing the right
03:27thing that's some good advice yeah for Minnie Rocher
