00:00Are you, like, a bossy person?
00:01Uh, no, I would just say, like, I'm a boss.
00:05I didn't grow up seeing a lot of examples
00:08of short, brown, chubby, poor daughters of immigrant parents
00:12grow up to be successful actresses and loud activists.
00:16I had to use my imagination most of the time.
00:19Why is a woman's virginity the only thing that matters?
00:22A woman has thoughts, ideas, a mind of her own.
00:26We know that it makes all the difference
00:28to see ourselves reflected by culture
00:33with dignity, with humor, with compassion.
00:37All I really want is a chance of any position or publication.
00:40What is the difference between being bossy and being a boss?
00:44Being a woman.
00:45Being a woman.
00:49I'm just so grateful for my body
00:51and how healthy it is and how strong it is.
00:54I am who I am in spite of myself.
00:57If I wanted to be someone who would just kind of keep their mouth shut,
01:02stay quiet, I couldn't even make myself be that person.
01:05I just am who I am.
01:07But hey, if there's one thing I've learned this summer,
01:09it's that no one can diminish you but yourself.
01:12And you taught me that.
01:16We can leave the next generation with a better reflection
01:22of their innate worth and their inherent power
01:26simply by claiming and living in our own power.
01:32You've really got away with words.
