00:04If all the bathtubs were galaxies and starships, oh what a bath it would be.
00:18Lush was founded in 1995 in Poole Dorset, that's in the UK.
00:23Lush co-founder Mo Constantine wanted to create a better bath, one that wouldn't irritate
00:29the skin.
00:29So she combined essential oils with a little bit of fizz and the first bath bomb was born.
00:39Now it's time for some cosmic color.
00:42There's a yummy yellow, a pretty hot pink, and a beautiful bold blue.
00:56Each color is mixed with the luster to give it some added sparkle.
01:02Luster is made with the same types of ingredients you would find in your favorite shimmery eyeshadow.
01:07For the blue hue, popping candy and an extra biodegradable gold glimmer are added.
01:22The insert is the nucleus of this super cool space ball and is made up of sodium bicarbonate,
01:29or baking soda, a snowflake luster, a mixture of peppermint and cedarwood oil, and a bubble
01:36mix which folds everything together.
01:38The pressing team works together to press the bath bombs by hand.
01:43One person takes the powder from the bomb and mixes it with citric acid.
01:49The citric acid helps the bomb bind together when pressed.
01:54Once they've mixed the two powder mixtures, they begin to build the bomb layer by layer.
02:00First the blue, then yellow, then pink, then they press the bombs together using the two
02:09halves of the molds.
02:11The extreme force squeezes out all the extra air and creates a perfect sphere of spacey
02:16delight.
02:17After the pressing team works their magic, the bombs sit in the molds overnight to dry.
02:23The intergalactic bath bomb is the key to an interstellar tub party.
02:31Relax, you deserve it.
02:34Thanks for watching Refinery 29.
