00:28Hi, my name is Blue.
00:29I'm 18 years old and I started playing the bass when I was 7.
00:55So when I started DJing I decided to combine my two passions and play bass over my DJ sets.
01:01The bass groove is the thing that makes people dance.
01:04So I'm composing my own bass lines and putting my own spin on it.
01:10So it's definitely a live on the spot remix.
01:12And I also get to react in real time to any impulses that I have or instincts that I have
01:18as a musician.
01:18A lot of these songs that I'm playing are very inspired or at least sample a lot of
01:24these old school disco and funk techniques that I study a lot.
01:28So when I'm adding those new techniques I feel like I'm paying homage to those skills.
01:34Most of the time it's like the first time people are seeing this kind of thing and having
01:39like this new experience.
01:40so it's like definitely new in that way.
02:03So I basically just like put a sticker on it because it looks so dope.
02:08Like as a DJ you kind of have to be into like all kinds of music.
02:11So I'm just like trying to make like the set you're playing like still.
02:14Like not like giving away your like soul by like playing like pop music.
02:18Like I was going to school during the day and I was like playing a lot of shows at night
02:24and like on the weekends.
02:26Like a lot of my friends like couldn't come because they like can't get into the clubs.
02:29So it's definitely like two different worlds and it'll be hard like I'll be like hanging
02:32out with them and then like I'll kind of have to like switch my head space into a new
02:37one when I like go to play a show.
02:39Sometimes like I'll be like doing a cool thing and like I'll want to like tell people
02:43about it but it's like awkward because they're like like oh class like that's so classic of
02:48you like and I'm like okay like cool.
02:56I definitely like use the fact that I'm a girl to like to like motivate me and like inspire
03:00me to do to do more things because at least like when I was starting out I definitely
03:04had to like to like prove myself like on the bass like walking into a room full of like
03:09all like male instrumentalists like there's definitely a different like vibe and energy
03:13there.
03:14Like a girl like playing bass and DJing at the same time is like so unique and rare.
03:19It's good just to like have more like girls in the scene because like that'll definitely
03:24inspire you know like younger girls to like start playing music and start like creating.
03:32Like I'm 18 so like now's the time to like to do all of this stuff so like I think
03:37this
03:37is a really important age to like yeah to like do everything that I can like get the most
03:42experience I can so I always like say yes to everything.
03:46Alright.
03:54We'll see you next time.
