Meet Netta Elzie, a prominent voice in the Black Lives Matter movement.
Transcript
00:13This is Netta Elzey. Since the murder of Mike Brown, she has dedicated her life to bringing
00:19an end to police violence in America. Through social media, Netta has garnered national
00:24attention as the prominent voice of the Black Lives Matter movement. She will not be ignored.
00:30You will listen to me. You will hear me. You will feel me. You will see me. I will
00:36disrupt everything about your day until we have something that is tangible.
00:52It doesn't matter if we're being peaceful or if we're being violent. As long as we are Black in
00:58America and breathing, we're going up against the status quo. So my Black body itself is a protest.
01:05Like, I am a walking protest. I learned how to fight differently. Instead of using my hands,
01:10I learned to use my mind and my words. And I found my purpose. So I feel like I'll know
01:18that my work
01:19is done when the police can't kill Black people with imputiny and nothing happens to them. When
01:27there's accountability for them taking Black people away from their families or their friends or cheating
01:35them out of their destiny, that's when I know that this portion of my work can be done.
