00:00My student loan debt is, it's like choking me.
00:06Oh yeah, your future's been decided because you have this huge amount of money that you have to pay.
00:12The government shouldn't be giving big banks loans at a lesser rate than their students.
00:18More students are going to college now than ever before and yet colleges are more expensive than ever before.
00:25And something has to change.
00:3021% of us believe that student loan debt is the most important issue in this election.
00:38I am taking on a huge, huge amount of student loans to get myself through medical school.
00:45That second degree helped me out a lot, but the second degree is really what made my debt increase dramatically.
00:52I'm a single 29-year-old woman with student loan debt.
00:57This is the first time in five years I've had full-time employment.
01:01But I do kind of regret not really understanding what I was getting myself into.
01:07Those that are privileged enough to be able to pay for college have a lot more freedom in their young
01:15adult choices
01:16than someone who immediately has to pay off hundreds and thousands of dollars of student loan debt.
01:24You then can't have a house or you then can't move forward in your career or you might not be
01:27able to have a family
01:28because you're laden with so much debt.
01:30Instead of like having money to invest into my future, I have to make money to pay off my student
01:40loans.
01:41Even preparing for when I, you know, one day get married or have kids and just thinking about like meeting
01:49my other half
01:50and having to tell him, you know, this is the number that my debt is at.
01:56It's something that I worry about daily.
01:59I think it really discourages people from the idea that school is for everyone, that higher education is for everyone,
02:04which is really terrifying.
02:06I think that it's really sad.
02:08And I think that the way that this affects those of lower economic status is so disproportionate.
02:14There's people that's not even going for an education because they feel like it's not worth it anymore.
02:20There are economic models in other countries where taxes help pay for students' education
02:28and the quality of life in those countries is not any worse.
02:32I'm really confused about the upcoming election.
02:35I'm not going to make any threats of moving to Canada, but I'm terrified of Donald Trump.
02:41I'm terrified of any kind of policy or any kind of change that he would bring to this country.
02:48I think this is another incredible opportunity to nominate someone that really reflects the culture that we are living in
02:55now.
02:56I thought after college I wouldn't have to eat cup of noodles anymore, but I'm still eating them.
03:01No.
03:01No…
03:01No…
03:03No…
