00:28no, they just want a little piece of the sugar.
00:30You know, and depending on how I'm feeling, I'll give it to them, you know, but because there's nothing hotter
00:37to me than a closeted straight man.
00:40I don't know. And if they're married, let's talk. Okay. No, I'm actually not joking. I know. It's horrible. I'm
00:48a horrible person.
00:49But yeah. Sorry. Because if I see a wedding ring, whoo! Girl! And then, oh, I remember this one guy,
01:00he, like, had a baby seat in the back.
01:03Oh, that was just like, I couldn't wait until we got to the hotel, actually. So, God. So that's my
01:12outrageous story.
01:15Get those goodies, girl. Get those goodies. Okay. Whatever.
01:25My first memory of drag is going to my uncle's house when I was maybe 10 years old.
01:30And he had a Christmas card that a friend of his sent him.
01:34And my uncle was actually in the photo. It was a photograph card.
01:39And my uncle was in the photo and he was dressed in drag.
01:42And I thought it was so interesting that my uncle was dressed like that.
01:45And I remember going up to my grandmother, who was also at the house, and being like,
01:50Granny, what's that? Why is Uncle Don dressed like that?
01:52And she's completely doing what my grandmother does. Ignored the question.
01:58But that stayed fresh in my mind.
02:00And then I forget exactly when I learned what drag was, but that all made sense.
02:07My uncle is gay.
02:08And I remember he won an award for gay men's choir or something.
02:12The award was on this wall.
02:14And I remember reading it, and I knew every single word that was on the plaque, except for gay.
02:21And I asked my cousin what that word meant.
02:24And he told me that it meant that it was like for men who liked other men.
02:30And I remember a light going off in my head.
02:33I was like, oh, now I know who I am.
02:37And I remember the next day I had to go to school.
02:40And everything, it was almost like something had been lifted off me.
02:44Like, I had been going through life with these glasses that weren't cleaned properly.
02:50And everything just seemed more clean, more bright.
02:53And I know that's like a corny thing to say, but I had definitely, I felt like I had been
02:59enlightened.
03:00You know, I finally saw who I really was.
03:09I just have a lot of body energy issues.
03:13I would never take my shirt off when getting in the pool.
03:20I would definitely never get naked in front of anyone.
03:23And if I was having sex with them, I'd normally do it in the dark.
03:26But now you can ask most people in nightlife, and they'll tell you that they've seen Mary
03:33Cherry naked.
03:34And that's because while doing drag, since doing drag in New York, I've just become more comfortable
03:41with myself.
03:42And I've seen the beauty that is me.
03:49You know, and I hope that everyone could fill that one day because where I once was, with
03:57how I looked at myself, was not a good place.
04:00You know, I definitely was disgusted with myself.
04:03But now, I'm at a point where I will get naked on stage and just stand there and have people
04:11take pictures of me.
04:12And I love it.
04:13You have to look at yourself in the mirror and just see, this is me and I'm gorgeous.
04:20I don't know if I'll do drag for the rest of my life.
04:23I do know that whatever I do do, drag will make that happen.
04:31So, I mean, that's all I can really say.
04:33I have no idea what will happen in the future, but whatever will happen, it's going to be
04:38because of drag.
