00:05On Ally, the costumes were absolutely perfect, beautiful, and exactly right.
00:11I'll take the couch.
00:12You'll sleep on the roof.
00:14In Casablanca, that's where husbands go.
00:16Joanna Johnston did the costumes.
00:18She's worked with me on many of my films.
00:20She did a job that was beyond my expectations.
00:24When I read the scripts, I saw it as a sort of glamorous piece
00:27in that sort of old-fashioned Hollywood style.
00:30It was really beautiful to watch her work.
00:33There are so many different costumes,
00:35and they tell something about the character in each scene.
00:39What are you doing?
00:40Testing you.
00:41The way you tested me.
00:46Marianne's a French national working for the British Intelligence Department
00:50because there's a lot of dimensions to this character.
00:53We wanted Marianne to look absolutely beautiful and really intriguing.
00:58Bob wanted something very glamorous, inspired by movies of the 40s.
01:04I put her in this kind of watery, liquid satin
01:08and very, very fine silk that's got shimmer and movement.
01:12She looks incredible.
01:19Max is this SOE operative who goes on this mission
01:23and ends up falling in love.
01:25And so, with his costumes, we wanted to evoke the period.
01:28He's very stylish with an eye toward it being romantic.
01:33As soon as he's on screen, you can't help but fall in love.
01:37It's just so much fun.
01:39Commander, we suspect your wife is a double agent.
01:42So, this is a test.
01:44Everything is a test.
01:46They're not trained to lie like you and me.
