00:00You know, when I put a wig on, it's automatic sass.
00:03I'm very sassy right now, just automatic sass.
00:08Hi guys, my name is Onko Tran.
00:10I am an LA-based hairstylist, co-owner of Ramirez Tran Salon.
00:14I'm gonna show you guys how to self-style your hair today.
00:17I'm gonna be teaching you guys two different techniques,
00:20lived in waves and new wave.
00:21All right, here we go, I'm gonna put my wig on.
00:24Okay, okay.
00:28I have to say, I'm so grateful for Extensionology
00:32to give us this amazing wig.
00:35I can see myself rocking this, though.
00:37Kind of like, you know, edged up and rocking her.
00:39So, let's start.
00:41I'm gonna start on this side.
00:43Do yourself in the front of the mirror, and then,
00:46take this, clip it out of the wig.
00:50All right, and then I'm gonna start
00:52with the underneath part first.
00:54The thing about, like, the lived in waves
00:56that you don't have to be super clean section.
01:00And just clip it out of the wig.
01:02These waves right here, especially the one that's on the bottom,
01:05it's gonna go forward towards my face
01:07because I want this to hug my face,
01:09and as the wave, as I move up,
01:13I want it to go away from my face.
01:14So, when it ends, it goes away, in, out, in.
01:18Split this in half.
01:21And then, you're gonna put this in here.
01:28And then, hold the ends out, click on it.
01:32And then, if the ends gets a little curly,
01:37then all you have to do is just, like, smooth it out.
01:41And the angle is very important.
01:43So, you have to hold the angle.
01:49The most important thing is, when you put it in, click it.
01:53Because it really helps to, like, feed into the hair.
01:56And then, spread it out.
01:58Because a lot of times, we click and we clamp.
02:00And the minute we clamp on, you get that hard line.
02:04So, this one's gonna be forward.
02:11And then, smooth out this end a little bit.
02:14Very, very important section right here.
02:16That it's always, always going back.
02:20Away from the face.
02:22So, there you can see it from this side.
02:24All right.
02:25Now, I'm gonna start on this side.
02:26Okay.
02:27This one's going forward.
02:29See how it goes in, like that?
02:31I'm gonna bring this up.
02:33And I'm gonna curl it back.
02:35So, that's the second section.
02:37So, I usually do four sections.
02:38The first one goes towards the face.
02:40The next one goes away from the face.
02:43And this next one here goes towards the face.
02:48One key, more important thing is that,
02:51try to separate the front from the back.
02:54And every time you do section, make sure you have a mark.
02:57Like, I would say, right behind the ear,
02:59that bone part is always my mark.
03:01And I wanna keep it the same and be consistent about it.
03:05So, you don't grab any hair from the front.
03:07So, I'm gonna start from the back, bottom,
03:10and work my way up to the top.
03:38So, now I'm just gonna clip the back into the front.
03:42So, I won't pick up any hair when I drop up the top portion of it.
03:52It's incredible.
03:53So much respect for you guys.
03:55Get another mirror and look in the mirror in the back.
03:58So, this is the third section.
04:01Elevation is very important.
04:07And there you have it, the live-in waves.
04:14So, I'm gonna put some products in.
04:17I'm gonna make it more live-in,
04:19because the products plays a key part in the whole look.
04:22And I like to use Next Day Hair from L'Oreal,
04:26because I really find that it has a lot of fluff,
04:29a lot of good texture to it,
04:31without making it too dry.
04:32Really work into your scalp to give it more definition.
04:37And then for the ends, I have this thing called the polish.
04:40You put it in your hands, and not just off here,
04:44but put it all over your hands like you put on lotion.
04:47And then sometimes, the rest of it,
04:51and just really emulsify it into your hands.
04:54Guys, the long hair, you guys can do this too,
04:56but I will keep the ends out a lot more straight,
04:58and then really piece it out.
05:00Make it a little more grunge.
05:02So, this completes my first look, the live-in waves.
05:05So, I'm gonna move on to the second look,
05:07and it's gonna be a new wave technique.
05:09The wave's gonna go up and out, instead of like, in spiral.
05:14Again, you're gonna section this off,
05:16and then find your mark.
05:17You always wanna start with the clamp underneath.
05:23Don't clamp it all the way through,
05:25until you elevate the hair.
05:36All right, so you get more of that kind of wave.
05:38So again, this takes a little practice to do.
05:51Once you clamp it, pull it up.
05:54Now you get to see, this is lived-in,
05:57and this is combination.
05:58This one is just in spiral.
06:01See it? So once you clamp it in, pull it up, bend it up.
06:04So having this combination, people can have both,
06:06and they really enjoy it.
06:08They're like, oh, it's not too perfect,
06:10but it has a body, and it's like a little edge,
06:12and it's a little more disheveled, you know?
06:15And you can see the different combination of it all.
06:38And you can see the different combination of it all.
06:50There you have it.
06:51Here's the end result.
06:53As you can tell, it's a lot more body,
06:55a lot more inconsistent waves,
06:57so it gives it more balance.
06:58It's sexier.
06:59Working from above, I only know my perception
07:02of like doing hair and all that stuff
07:04and making sure that you guys walk out perfectly,
07:06but do it yourself?
07:09Whoa.
07:09This is so fun.
07:11I hope you guys enjoy, and thank you.
