00:03Milan, per me, ricorda di mio tempo come studenti.
00:09Quando mi ricordo il square outside la galleria,
00:13il Duomo, scettando, fotografando,
00:17io ancora uso i fotografi originali come referenza oggi.
01:17As la designer di stadioni e arenas around the world,
01:19I think about the first match a lot
01:21as we envision and craft each of our unique projects.
01:25The question was,
01:26how do we take what people feel here
01:27and design a building that delivers that same feeling
01:30but even more powerfully?
01:32We brought the stands as close to the pitch
01:34as we possibly could.
01:35The front rows will feel as though
01:38you're actually sitting on the grass
01:39and you can almost touch the players.
01:41Atmosphere is not just about what you hear,
01:43it's also about what you can see.
01:46Every seat has a clean, uninterrupted view
01:49of the entire pitch.
01:51The stands rise up at a maximum rank of 37 degrees.
01:55That's steeper and closer to the action
01:57than most all new stadiums built in recent years.
02:00And then of course there are the two Curvas.
02:03We design them as two great walls of people
02:05face to face across the pitch,
02:08hanging over the goal lines.
02:10and then there's the sound.
02:12We treated the acoustics
02:14as a primary design driver from day one.
02:16The stands run continuously,
02:18a full 360 degrees around the pitch
02:20with no gaps.
02:21At the same time,
02:22we've created a much more diverse range
02:24of experiences for the fans to choose from.
02:26Private boxes, clubs, lounges,
02:29and other hospitality spaces
02:30spread across every level of the stadium.
02:33Every fan at every level
02:35will have a truly exceptional experience.
02:40The architecture perhaps becomes a catalyst.
02:44It's very difficult to define
02:46the influences on architecture.
02:49Sometimes it's obvious,
02:51you can make a direct link.
02:53Other times it's subconscious.
02:56That tradition of masonry,
02:58subliminally,
02:59they perhaps all come together
03:01in the opportunity for a stadium,
03:04which becomes something beyond
03:06beyond just the needs of the two clubs.
03:10The new stadium is served by public transport.
03:14You can walk from that transport
03:16directly into the stadium.
03:18The stadium uses locally sourced materials.
03:21It's recycling water.
03:22It's harvesting energy
03:24from the solar panels on the roof.
03:26It's an all-electric stadium.
03:28The external appearance of the stadium,
03:32it's higher at the two ends.
03:35That's the expression of the two clubs.
03:37The X structure opens up at the base
03:40where it invites the entry of the vast audience
03:44that will enjoy the game within.
03:50It's not just a stadium,
03:52it's a landmark.
03:53It's a civic venue
03:54which embraces football
03:56but goes beyond it.
03:59Concerts,
04:00design houses,
04:01fashion,
04:02all of the things
04:03that we associate with Milano,
04:05its legacy,
04:06its heritage,
04:07its history.
04:09One city,
04:11one stadium,
04:12and two legendary clubs.
04:14The stadium becomes
04:16not just a landmark for Milan,
04:19something which is essentially Milanese.
04:22It goes beyond
04:23to the region,
04:25the nation,
04:26and the global audience.
