00:30Do it all again, raise them in the sand, buck them in the mud, drip a cowboy's sweat, bleed a
00:37cowboy's blood.
00:49I'm Zeke Thurston, 2016 World Champion Saddlebrook Rider, and you're watching the Pepper Stewart Show.
00:56How about it, y'all? I'm excited to announce November the 13th, me and the boys are coming out to
01:00Fort Worth for the Ride-O-Wish Experience of Star Gathering.
01:02It's going to be a good time at the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens with live music, good food, and good
01:06times.
01:07Excited to be a part of a great mission to create life-changing experiences for children with clinical illnesses.
01:12So get y'all's tickets now. Come out and see me and the band. It's going to be a good
01:15time. We'll see y'all there.
01:17All right. So he told you about that. He told you something. We're here at Wild Bill's Western Store, middle
01:22of downtown.
01:23But what you just saw about the Ride-O-Wish, so we brought Jess Lewis in to tell you guys
01:29all about what's going to be happening there November 13th.
01:32Yes, November 13th.
01:33In Fort Worth, Texas. Tell us what Ride-O-Wish is all about and kind of what the event you're
01:37going to be doing.
01:38Yes, absolutely. Ride-O-Wish is a 501c3 nonprofit, and it is a gala that we're putting on.
01:46And 100% of the proceeds are going to go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
01:51So we are hosting this so that hopefully we can raise as much money as possible for children with critical
01:57illnesses.
01:59All right. And then tell me about these days. You've got a day with Corey Cush and Todd Virgin.
02:05Yes.
02:05The days, how's that? What's that all about?
02:07Yes, that's part of our experience at STAR Live Auction.
02:11And what that is is we have picked some industry leaders from all across the equine industry for people to
02:19be able to bid on
02:20and go and spend a day with these people and sharpen their skills, just whatever they feel like they may
02:27want to do.
02:28Like you said, we have Todd Bergen, Corey Cushing. We have Casey Deary.
02:33We have Kenny Platt, Austin Shepard, Cade Shepard, Shad Mayfield, Kelsey Domer, and Molly Montgomery
02:41are some of the ones that we are offering that night to be able to go spend a day with.
02:47Okay. And then you're going to have an auction at the dinner as well.
02:51So what's some of the stuff you got?
02:52I was looking on Facebook at all the different things you had for auction, whether, you know, breedings and stuff
02:57like that.
02:57Yes, we have some really cool stallions that have come to the party.
03:02We have Phil and Dangerous. We have Sugar Daddy. We have Sugar Ray Leonard.
03:07We have some Blaze in the Way, a new up-and-coming barrel horse stud.
03:13We have several of the Dunn Ranch barrel horse sires.
03:17That is an honor to be able to showcase them.
03:21And so, yeah, we have stallions at the top of their industries that are being offered up that night for
03:28breeding.
03:30Breeding, okay.
03:30Okay. And what got you to the point to get this started, the Ride of Wish?
03:35Yeah.
03:36What happened to get that going?
03:37When I was younger, I used to tutor some kids, and I had the opportunity to tutor a boy and
03:44a girl.
03:45And, unfortunately, they both had brain tumors that were terminal.
03:51And then, later in life, I met a young man named Bill Sorensen, and he's part of the Cutting Horse
03:58family.
03:58And, unfortunately, he also had a brain tumor, and it was also terminal.
04:06So, we were a part of raising some money for him so that him and his family could have, like,
04:11one last wish.
04:12And I just felt like it was really special, and it was an honor to be able to provide an
04:16experience like that.
04:18But, and, you know what, those kids are so brave, and I felt like if they're fighting,
04:23then maybe we can give them something to fight for and an experience to hold on to for the rest
04:28of their life with their family.
04:30Okay. Yeah, because horses, horses, horses heal. Horses are healers.
04:34Yes.
04:34Yes.
04:53Did you hear me?
04:55Yeah, so these are the guys that you've got coming that are the wish rides?
05:00Yes.
05:02This is Phil and Dangers that Wesley Galleon is showing right here.
05:05He's one of the stallions that has a breeding offered up for grabs that night in the auction.
05:13Earlier, you saw Mr. Austin Shepard showing one of his great horses, and Mr. Casey Deary showing one of his
05:21great horses.
05:22Okay.
05:23All right.
05:23It's fun with lives, okay?
05:25So, I know it's crazy, but I always do the show live.
05:27I never, everything's filmed live, so they never record.
05:31So, people that are watching right now are going, what happened to you guys?
05:33What were y'all doing?
05:34Why am I saying the same thing?
05:35That's why, because we do it live.
05:37I don't like to edit.
05:38I just, what happens, happens.
05:41And every year or so, this happens, something crazy.
05:46So, that's what happens.
05:47It just so happens, we have a guest in studio that drove across the country to be here, and we
05:52have a hiccup.
05:52But that's part of live TV.
05:54Don't worry.
05:55That's live TV, guys, live TV.
05:56So, we were talking about, I think they heard you, but we were talking about the, you've got a bunch
06:01of studs.
06:02You've even got some bulls.
06:04Yes.
06:04You've got a bull in there.
06:05Yes.
06:06That bull is very, very cool.
06:08His name is Fire Zone, and Ms. Lauren Salon owns him.
06:12He was a PBR bull of the year last year, and that's a really, really cool offering that we have
06:18also.
06:18So, she has generously donated to the auction two straws for breeding to him.
06:27And so, that's a really exciting thing to offer.
06:30We also have a day for two at the PBR that have been donated by the actual PBR themselves.
06:39And so, as far as, like, bull riding fans go, that's how we catered to them on that side over
06:46there.
06:46Okay.
06:47All right.
06:48That will work.
06:49And did you want to have him hop on and tell us a little bit about what you're doing, what's
06:54going on over there?
07:00All right.
07:01You going to tell the folks who you are so I don't say it wrong?
07:04Yeah.
07:04My name is Scott Weiss.
07:05I'm an NCHA Hall of Fame trainer.
07:07I've been in the cutting horse business over 40, 50 years now.
07:11I'm a NCHA judge, 5A rated judge, as well as a judge's monitor, which means I evaluate cutting judges and
07:18how they perform.
07:19And I'm just really excited to be involved with this.
07:22I can't think of anybody that's happier than to help kids, you know, and especially kids that have, you know,
07:29some issues that need a little pick-me-up.
07:31This is a great cause.
07:32Okay.
07:33All right.
07:34And let's talk about yourself.
07:36So, you're in Texas now, but you're not originally from Texas.
07:41No, actually, I'm from California.
07:43I grew up in California, got a degree out there in business and always rode horses as my source of
07:49income.
07:50Saw cutting horses, came back to Texas and watched cutting and decided that's what I wanted to do in my
07:56spare time.
07:57And that was a long time ago and now it's my profession.
07:59So, being in California, we came to Texas for three to six months out of every year.
08:06And we were basically here the entire time and about 10 years ago, we just decided we wanted to be
08:11in Texas.
08:12Yeah.
08:12And the people and the places and, you know, all the events that are in Texas just made a big
08:19plus for us to be here.
08:20Yeah.
08:21I mean, right there in Fort Worth, you got, for months, you got something going on right there.
08:25Well, Fort Worth is the horse capital of the world.
08:28I mean, eventually, everyone comes to Fort Worth and this cause that, you know, you're proposing today is, you know,
08:37really part of the culture of Fort Worth.
08:39People want to be involved in the horse business.
08:41They want to be involved in good causes.
08:43There is something in Fort Worth from the middle of October till the end of December.
08:48Okay.
08:49You know, not alone just to horses, but to the tourism and, you know, the Western lifestyle, which we're all
08:55part of.
08:56Yeah.
08:57All right.
08:57That'll be a cool deal.
08:58Be a good event.
08:59Ride a wish.
09:00We'll send the folks over that way to go check it.
09:03And what are you going to be doing there?
09:04Are you going to be doing any riding and helping?
09:06Are you going to auction?
09:06Well, I'm going to be trying not to put my hand up too many times to try and buy everything.
09:10The amount of talent is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that I, as a professional horse trainer, may buy
09:17to get a day with Austin Shepard.
09:19Or Kenny Platt.
09:20Or Casey Durie, a Rainer, which is not my forte.
09:23But the actual opportunity to be able to be in a situation where you could be part of their program
09:29or maybe part of a bull situation where you could buy into the semen.
09:33Or these stallions, you know.
09:34These stallions are booked up, you know, way ahead of time.
09:38So to actually have them donated where someone could actually buy a breeding to those studs, it's a great opportunity.
09:44Yeah.
09:45Good deal.
09:45I was looking at that.
09:47I took all those studs over.
09:48I was like, man, that's, there's some nice horses.
09:50They are the best of the best.
09:52And if you watch the videos that you've shown today, you'll see the kind of talent that they have.
09:56And that's part of the Western lifestyle.
09:59The horses, the riders, and the participants.
10:03The people that want to be behind it.
10:05Yeah.
10:05All right, man.
10:06I appreciate it.
10:07We'll let the folks know.
10:08Ride a wish.
10:09On the Facebook, you get everything posted.
10:11Everything is there.
10:12So check, check that out.
10:14See what they got going on.
10:15And then we'll let you guys check out this video from the PBR.
10:20PBR's got something going on.
10:21So check out PBR's newest, newest Ram hidden buckle trick.
10:26They're parting with Ram.
10:27They're hiding buckles.
10:28And can they find them?
10:28So let's see what the PBR's doing now.
10:32Bull riders take pride in knowing their trucks.
10:36Today, the Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn puts that knowledge to the test.
10:41The challenge?
10:42One rider hides the belt buckle.
10:44The other hunts it down.
10:46It's a little hide and seek and a chance for these cowboys to unleash their inner child.
10:52This is the Unstoppable Search, powered by Ram Trucks.
10:58First up to search is Zeke.
11:00Well, how'd you get to it?
11:01All right, I'm going.
11:02Well, how about you unlock me?
11:05You did lock the door, though.
11:06Good luck, boys.
11:08I'll just look around this one for a check in.
11:10I want to check this one, man.
11:11I mean, that's a little sunlight compartment.
11:14Oh, strategy.
11:15You can check this one out and see condo.
11:18We won't tell Austin about that, though.
11:20Well, let's just be real.
11:21Austin ain't that smart, so he might just leave it right here in this compartment up here.
11:24Sure.
11:28Woo-wee!
11:30Well, Zeke, I hid the buckle.
11:32Good luck.
11:32I'm going to time you and see how fast you can get it done.
11:34Here we go.
11:35Yeah.
11:37He's going to have a little trouble.
11:38I hid it pretty dang good.
11:41Good God, there's a lot of compartments in this thing.
11:46I'm having a lot of trouble.
11:48I'll give you a hint.
11:49It's in and under.
11:58That was good.
11:59Four minutes, 20 seconds.
12:01I think it's just his lucky to hide.
12:03Yeah, whatever.
12:05Next up to search is Grayson.
12:07All right, I'm going to go hide this.
12:09Got to see all the compartments still to hide, but I think he's going to be the longest time of
12:14finding it.
12:16That's one place I did not look.
12:18Throw him off the scent a little bit.
12:19I'm going to act like I'm opening up a bunch of stuff.
12:22Just in case they're peeking, because I don't trust him.
12:25I'm feeling ultra confident.
12:27Four minutes, 20 seconds.
12:28I got to beat.
12:29That's all you got to beat.
12:30Okay.
12:32It's a pretty good hiding spot.
12:34He's all in the wrong area.
12:36He's not going to find it.
12:39There's something that I've never seen in a truck before.
12:43Oh, he found it.
12:44Oh, he found it.
12:48Woo!
12:49111.50.
12:50Oh my gosh.
12:52The last to search is Austin.
12:55I'm going to go hide this thing.
12:57It's hard.
12:58It's way harder than you think.
13:00You got to do everything.
13:01That's what I thought I was kind of doing, but I think I was moving too fast.
13:05But Grayson's a genius.
13:06He's playing the long game.
13:07Can I have one hint?
13:09No.
13:09All right, Austin.
13:11It's all on you, Kipo.
13:15I don't think he's going to get it.
13:16He won't get it.
13:24I'm sorry.
13:27What?
13:28You know, you got it.
13:32No way!
13:3420 seconds.
13:35Oh, damn it!
13:38I've got to do more records.
13:39Why did you let all of this work?
13:40What is going on?
13:43Austin takes the win and bragging rights.
13:46He tames bulls for a living.
13:48Turns out he can tame rams, too.
13:50This has been the Unstoppable Search, powered by Ram Trucks.
14:15Well, I guess it's going to be one of those nuts.
14:19Got that cooler loaded like a 45.
14:23Class, click another one, hell of a ride.
14:26Why order one when you get six at a time?
14:35You better find your seats before they open the gates.
14:40We got Daisy Dukes for your dinner plate.
14:43I just take my boot and miss the spur of the moment.
14:47Like J.B. Moody, keep one hand on it.
14:50You got to focus on causing ruckus.
14:53When you get that feeling in your bones, you got to trust it.
14:57Talking blacklist, showing off your taxes.
15:00Taking care of business for more than eight seconds.
15:03When the world's on your back, grab your cowboy hat.
15:07Say fuck it.
15:10Say fuck it.
15:14If you know where to look, yeah, you know where to go.
15:17Just take that dust cloud, chill to the red dirt road.
15:22Getting littered in KC lights.
15:24This here's a pasture party and it goes all night.
15:28We got a blood kiss, no one calls a ruckus.
15:31When you get that feeling in your bones, you got to trust it.
15:34Talking reckless, showing off your taxes.
15:38Taking care of business for more than eight seconds.
15:41When the world's on your back, grab your cowboy hat.
15:45Say fuck it.
15:48Say fuck it.
15:58From the HLS to Calgary and every round Penn County in between.
16:06If you're looking for a good ride, my girl Halverson's got that.
16:11You got a bucket, no one calls a ruckus.
16:15When you get that feeling in your bones, you got to trust it.
16:19Talking reckless, showing off your taxes.
16:22Taking care of business for more than eight seconds.
16:26When the world's on your back, grab your cowboy hat.
16:29Say fuck it.
16:33Say fuck it.
16:36Say fuck it.
16:40Fuck it.
16:47All right.
16:48Man, are you enjoying the show today?
16:52We're not having fun.
16:53Live is fun, guys.
16:55There's something always happening.
16:56You never know what's happening around here when you're doing live.
16:59Record live TV.
17:00But anyhow, I hope you enjoyed that song from Allie Coleen.
17:05And we're going to talk to her and ask her about that.
17:08How's it going?
17:09What is happening?
17:12Hi.
17:13Are you in Nashville?
17:15Yeah.
17:16Nashville.
17:16Okay.
17:17Nashville.
17:17I finally went to Nashville, I guess about two years ago,
17:20when we did the contract for this new network.
17:23And I finally went to Nashville to go check it out and see what all the
17:26WhoFly was about.
17:27What did you think?
17:28It was interesting.
17:29I think it was a lot of tourists.
17:31Yeah.
17:32A lot of tourists in there.
17:33But it was fun.
17:35It was fun.
17:36I got to see a lot of new stuff.
17:37I don't think we have anything else.
17:39I think that's kind of what we're known for.
17:42Yeah, that's it.
17:43That's it.
17:44But it was fun.
17:45It was fun.
17:45I like to see all the old places and go by all the old stuff and see the
17:49history.
17:50The history was really nice.
17:51So let's talk about this.
17:53Let's talk about this.
17:55So you got the song out, Bucket.
17:56But before that, let's go back to farm life.
18:00So you do farm life stuff.
18:02You ride horses.
18:03You work the cows.
18:04How's that go?
18:06Yeah, I've got two horses.
18:07I got two big fat boys.
18:08I got Jack and Einstein.
18:10They're both quarter horses.
18:12They're about 19 and 20 now.
18:14So we just kind of stick to trail riding.
18:17And I had my first cowgirl camp this year where I was lucky enough to use one of my
18:22girlfriend's horses while she had a green pony that she wanted to work on.
18:27And her and her husband do a lot in the rodeo world.
18:31I've always just kind of had horses.
18:33And so it was my first time getting to go and work them.
18:35And so we just did cutting all week.
18:37We went to a cutting camp.
18:38And it was so much fun.
18:40And that horse, she let me, like I said, she let me borrow her horse.
18:43And I'm going to say that to Seri.
18:44If your horse people, you know, you kind of know, like, if your horse knows what to do,
18:48it is significantly easier to learn how to do something.
18:50And Sugar knew what she was doing.
18:52So I just got to sit back all week and kind of learn how to sit right and do everything.
18:56And it was awesome.
18:57You got to be careful.
18:58That cutting, that cutting is addictive.
19:00You'll get wrapped up in that thing.
19:01And you'll be down here in Fort Worth with the rest of them this week down there at the NRCHA.
19:07I know.
19:08I know.
19:08Luckily, I'm very lucky that, you know, any other kind of thing that I try and pick up outside of
19:14music,
19:14I learned very quickly we don't have too much time for it.
19:16And man, oh, man, this cowboy didn't take some time.
19:19So maybe.
19:20Maybe I'll get to put a little more effort into it in the future, but not right now.
19:24Yeah.
19:24So you always enjoyed singing?
19:25You always enjoyed doing the music thing?
19:28Yeah.
19:29Yeah.
19:30I started my attempt at songwriting when I was like eight or nine years old.
19:34And it's just always been the goal.
19:37It's always been what I've wanted to do.
19:38I've always wanted to perform.
19:40And I've been here in Nashville for a long time.
19:42I grew up in Oklahoma, but I moved here when I was 17 to go to Belmont University and do
19:47music and that kind of thing.
19:48So I've been here a long time.
19:49It's my 13th year here in Nashville.
19:52All right.
19:53That's a wow up there.
19:54It is.
19:56That's a wow.
19:57So let's talk about, I think we've got something in common here.
20:00I think we both are a part of Horses for Mental Health.
20:04So tell me about that, Dale.
20:07Well, I recently embarrassed myself because I, we were doing a tribute for October for the, for the passing the
20:15braid down, which is just like a, this social series that they were doing for the month of October for
20:21mental health.
20:22And they, you know, they messaged me and they said, Hey, will you take a photo, you know, in, in
20:26braids and send it in for this campaign?
20:28I said, of course I will.
20:29So I braided my hair all cute.
20:31And I took a picture.
20:32I took a selfie with Einstein and I sent it in.
20:34And, oh my gosh, they were so nice to me the way they said it, but they were like, honey,
20:39you look so good.
20:40Will you braid the horse's hair?
20:42And then send us a photo.
20:44Yeah.
20:44And I would sound embarrassed.
20:47So my mental health is great with horses, obviously.
20:52But that's, that's a fun, that's a fun campaign, fun campaign to be part of.
20:56So it's, it's just a privilege, you know, I, there's so many ways out there to not benefit your mental
21:01health.
21:01And it's so wild, you know, that, I mean, not, not that everyone has a horse or anything, but it's,
21:05it's great for me, right.
21:07That I can just walk out in the back pasture and spend time with them and have that, you know,
21:10as, as a toolbox of mine.
21:12So very grateful for the big, for the big boys.
21:14Oh yeah.
21:15Oh yeah.
21:15Like I tell them all the time, I said, I can go out there and ride.
21:17I settle up and go ride and I can, I can tell him whatever and he don't care because he
21:21can't talk to me.
21:22He doesn't.
21:23Right.
21:23And he can't tell nobody.
21:25Yeah.
21:25Yeah.
21:26So the secret is safe.
21:27So let's talk about this bucket, this bucket song.
21:29You got, you got my buddy, yo, Jordan Halverson on the, on the cover of that deal.
21:33So tell us about that song.
21:35Bucket is cool.
21:36How'd that come, how'd that song come about?
21:38Man, I wanted to write Bucket for years.
21:40It was just one of those ideas that I'd had in my songbook for a really long time.
21:44And every time I would throw it out and write, everyone would be like, I don't really get it.
21:49Like, I know it's Bucket, like F it.
21:51And I know it's like when, you know, I had the idea, like, you know, like when the world's in
21:55your back, just throw your cowboy hat and say Bucket.
21:57And I don't think a lot of people understood, like, how much of just, like, a big party anthem I
22:03wanted it to be.
22:04I feel like, especially in Nashville, when you talk about, like, Western music, they, my generation of writers tends to
22:11go to, like, the sad country songs kind of thing.
22:13And I'm like, no, we need, like, a really big rockin' anthem for Rodeo.
22:17So, and it just wasn't anything that I feel like a lot of my writing circles here kind of latched
22:22onto until they did.
22:24And then when they did, it was one of the funnest writes ever.
22:26I just got to sit down with some friends of mine who made this really rad track that we could
22:31write to.
22:31And I think that was the biggest difference, you know, was sitting there with that really cool sonic sound being
22:36like, no, guys, this is all about pasture parties and rodeo.
22:39Yeah.
22:40And it was so cool.
22:41And getting to shout out, you know, my icons in the world of rodeo as far as, you know, Tuff
22:48Hedeman and J.B. Mooney and Jordan Halverson, that was really cool for me to kind of see through.
22:52I got a fun fact for you about that photo of Jordan on that bull.
22:59Yeah.
23:00That bull is the men's at the WSPBR.
23:07I worked the bull ridings there, and I broke bulls in the arena, like the pickup man kind of deal.
23:11Yeah.
23:11And so I'm familiar with that bull.
23:13When I saw that picture, I was like, I know exactly who that bull is.
23:15That's the bull the men ride that she's riding in there, and she rode it.
23:18Well, yeah.
23:19Yeah.
23:20Yeah.
23:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
23:21I knew that he was a qualifying bull.
23:23I knew that he was, like, an active bull.
23:26I love that you recognize him.
23:28I think that's the coolest thing ever.
23:30I have this big bodacious hat of, like, Tuff Hedeman from, like, his big bull, you know, bodacious back in
23:35the day.
23:35And so many people, I guess it's silly for me to expect them to know that it's a bull.
23:41Yeah.
23:42But it just, that is one of the biggest things, I think, in cowboy culture and rodeo culture that I
23:47wish people outside could understand a little bit more,
23:50and that is how much care and consideration and also knowledge there is on those bulls.
23:56I'm like, no, some of those bulls are more recognized than the riders, so you just have no idea what
24:00you're talking about.
24:01Right, right.
24:02And it gets that way.
24:03It gets that way in the rodeo world where you got, you know, a lot of people from the outside.
24:08You know, you just don't know what you don't know, and, you know, sometimes they have the wrong ideas.
24:12But other than that, I mean, it's great.
24:14And, like you say, I mean, these bulls, like you say, are more famous than a lot of the riders.
24:19They're more recognizable.
24:20They got stuffed animals.
24:21They got stuffed dolls.
24:22They got stickers.
24:23There's big wall posters.
24:24You can put a big bull on your wall.
24:25I mean, they're just as famous as much as the athlete as they are.
24:30I always tell my friends, I'm like, if you have a piece of farm equipment, you know, that's worth, you
24:34know, $1.8 million,
24:36you're really going to take care of it.
24:38You're really going to make sure that it works really well and that it's, you know, because that's a big
24:42investment.
24:43And I just, you know, and to the bulls are the same way.
24:45I'm like, have those bulls have a better chiropractor than I have.
24:47Yeah.
24:48Okay.
24:49Oh, yeah.
24:50Man, the chiropractors, the microwave, they got the microwaves on their backs back there and everything.
24:56Yeah, man.
24:57They're big.
24:57A lot of them are big pets.
24:58You know, if you watch a lot of the social medias of those bulls and stuff, I mean, they're back
25:01there just playing with them.
25:02And most of them are just big pets.
25:04I mean, they're just like anybody else.
25:05When it's time to go to work, time to do your job, you do your job, and then you're done.
25:09Then you go back and relax.
25:11It is a really cool, it's a really cool relationship, I feel like.
25:14And I like the big, you know, they're usually like really big, like mostly PBR stuff, but I like it
25:19when they have a scoreboard for the cowboys and for the bulls.
25:21Yeah.
25:21I've always liked that, that little gimmick of PBR I've always liked a lot.
25:25Yeah.
25:25Makes me happy.
25:26Yeah.
25:26So, do you have anything planned for a video, a music video for that song?
25:33No, I mean, we had a hundred things that we wanted to do, and we partnered with a couple companies
25:37that had went and shot at a lot of events that were going to allow us, you know, right to
25:41the footage to just highlight a bunch of really young writers.
25:45It was always what we wanted, you know, but we didn't have the budget for it.
25:48And then now, now I don't know, this song came out in July, so it's not super old by any
25:53means, but, you know, in the world of content, you're always making it for the next song, and we're already
25:59on the next song.
25:59We haven't yet, but I would really love to.
26:02Yeah, already on to the next one.
26:04Yeah.
26:04So, what is the next one?
26:06The next one is Our Turn, and it is release day.
26:09So, Our Turn came out today.
26:11Yeah.
26:11I was super, super proud of it, very excited.
26:15And it's just this really big kind of underdog anthem.
26:19It's huge, it's loud.
26:21I was really lucky to have it on hold.
26:22I wrote it back in the end of 2022, so we had a big artist in town that had it
26:27on hold for a couple of years, and I just didn't end up using the song or cutting the song.
26:33So, it was not something that I anticipated on representing, and God's timing is crazy, because it's the perfect time
26:41for me to represent a song like this.
26:42So, we're really excited, but Our Turn came out today.
26:45It's our newest release, and I'm just really excited for the content that we built around this one and stuff
26:50like that going forward.
26:51So, what do you got lined up?
26:52What do you got lined up next?
26:53Where are you headed?
26:54You got a tour schedule on there, ready to go?
26:56Yeah, we do.
26:57Our year's about over.
26:59We've got our last band show this weekend.
27:01We head down to Oklahoma, and then we'll support NFR and some stuff in December in Vegas, but it'll be
27:09acoustic.
27:09I don't get to bring the band this year.
27:11But our shows are dwindling out for the rest of the year, and we're really working on 2027.
27:16So, we have a little tour tab page on our website, sallycoleenmusic.com, and anyone can see us where we're
27:23coming.
27:23And I still play in Nashville once a week, so anyone who travels to Nashville, I'm still around.
27:27I'm that old guy downtown still.
27:29Still.
27:30Where are you playing in Nashville?
27:31Where are you playing at down there?
27:33I play at Friends No Places on Broadway.
27:36Okay.
27:37I don't know if I went down that far.
27:39I went to the Johnny Cash Museum, went through there, and then I went to the...
27:44Depending on when, two years ago, it might have been there.
27:46It might not have been there yet.
27:47Yeah, I can't remember.
27:48I can't remember.
27:49And then I did that.
27:50I did like, there was like a Music Hall of Fame or something like that in Nashville.
27:54It was really neat.
27:55I really liked that.
27:56We spent a lot of time in that place checking it out.
27:59The Hall of Fame tours are awesome, and the people they give them are really passionate
28:02about it.
28:03They really take that seriously.
28:05Just like the Grand Ole Opry tours, they really take that stuff very seriously, and they're
28:09very good at it.
28:10So I've always heard good things.
28:11The Opry tour, the Opry tour was good.
28:13I did do that, but I did not stand in the circle.
28:18Oh, come on.
28:19I'm not doing that.
28:21I'm not standing in the circle.
28:23So you've got to earn that spot.
28:25I've met some people that feel that way, and I totally get it.
28:30I have not had my Opry debut yet, and maybe it's different because it's on a tour.
28:34I'm not really sure that I understand the mindset of it, but I have been asked to play
28:38the Grand Ole Opry, and it was for a Dr. Ralph Stanley tribute, and I am the biggest
28:45brother of Art Thou fan ever, and he did write a couple of the things that ended up on
28:48that soundtrack.
28:49So when I was asked to come and represent Dr. Ralph Stanley, I think I jumped into that
28:55pool, or jumped into that thing like it was a pool.
28:58I think I jumped right into it, and I remember the people around me were like, did you even
29:03touch the circle?
29:03I said, I've been doing laps in that thing for the last 30 minutes.
29:07What are you talking about?
29:09And that wasn't my Opry debut, but I was asked to perform on that stage, and so I didn't
29:13hesitate for a second.
29:14And so I've always wondered if that connotation comes with like, because you're touring the
29:18building, or if like, I jumped the gun and should not have stepped inside that circle
29:22until I have like my Opry debut.
29:25See, I don't know.
29:26Like for me, you know, I come from a music family.
29:28My dad, he's no longer here, but he played a lot of music.
29:32He played with Crystal Gale and stuff like that and all that.
29:35So to me, I get it, the music thing, and I get, you know, you earned it.
29:39You go to where you earned it.
29:40And so when I'm there, I'm like, man, there's no way I'm going to step on that.
29:43You know, you got to earn that.
29:44You got to earn that stuff.
29:45You can't just wander in here, stand on the thing and take a picture.
29:49That's fair.
29:49Like all the tourists were doing.
29:51That's fair.
29:52That is fair.
29:53And I will say that has bamboozled me a couple of times.
29:56I remember, I've seen on my social media a couple of times, my friends standing in the
29:59circle, and I'll text them and be like, dude, I can't believe I missed your debut.
30:03Like I would have been there.
30:04I'm so sorry.
30:04Like, congratulations.
30:05I'm like, no, we did the tour today.
30:06And I'm like, oh.
30:09Yeah.
30:09Okay.
30:10Yeah.
30:10Okay.
30:12Oh, yeah.
30:12Oh, they get you on that tour.
30:13There's always somebody there with a camera want to sell you a $50 picture.
30:16Come stand here.
30:17Let me take your picture.
30:18Yeah.
30:18I'll be buying that stuff.
30:21They get me.
30:21They get me every time.
30:23We do hit the gift shop, so we end up with some shirts.
30:25And so we make sure to get the shirts.
30:27I go everywhere I get a shirt.
30:29I tell my wife, I said, one of these days, I'm going to get somebody to make me a blanket.
30:33Because I've seen those quilts out of T-shirts.
30:35They're very cool.
30:35Because I don't wear T-shirts.
30:37I don't ever wear T-shirts hardly at all.
30:38But I've got a closet full from all the places that we've been.
30:42I'm like, find somebody to make me a quilt out of all those T-shirts.
30:45I'll do you one worse.
30:45That'd be pretty neat.
30:47I'll do you one worse.
30:48I think at least once a year, if not more than that, for the last three or four years,
30:52I've collected all the T-shirts in my closet that I want said blanket made out of.
30:56You know what I mean?
30:57So I have a room of just bags of, these are going to be blankets one day.
31:01I'm like, girl, throw them out.
31:03Throw them out.
31:04It's been years of you not making this blanket.
31:06Like, stop.
31:07Yeah.
31:08I'm with you on that.
31:09Yeah.
31:09But I'm going to get there one day.
31:11One of the things I'm going to get to that point.
31:14You'll get there.
31:15I'll have to do it.
31:16So what do you got planned up this weekend?
31:19You got somewhere you're going to go play a little bit?
31:22You're going to go ride your horse?
31:22Yeah, we're going to go play.
31:23We love a casino show.
31:25We love a casino show.
31:26They're usually the only ones that will actually give you a hotel room.
31:28You know?
31:28So we love a casino show.
31:30So we're going to go play in Oklahoma.
31:31I'm going to go see my nieces and nephews for a day, which I'm very excited about.
31:35And I love my band.
31:36I'm very close with my band.
31:37They're all really incredible people.
31:42And so I'll have to say, it'll just be kind of a really big kind of end of the year
31:46little
31:46reunion thing for us, you know, since we probably will come back together for the next couple
31:49of months.
31:50So we really look forward to that stuff.
31:51We're going to watch scary movies on the bus and do all the things.
31:54Now, when you say Oklahoma, are you going Windstar?
31:56Are you going Choctaw?
31:58Which way are you going?
31:59We're going to go to Tulsa.
32:01Tulsa.
32:01Oh, that's.
32:02Yeah.
32:02The Hard Rock.
32:03There's the Hard Rock over there in there in Tulsa.
32:05Hard Rock Casino.
32:06There's the Hard Rock.
32:06And we've played the Hard Rock a handful of times.
32:08We love the Hard Rock.
32:09We're going to do River Spirit this time.
32:11Okay.
32:12Yeah.
32:13The Hard Rock's the one I was saying because I had a convention up there one time.
32:15And I was like, oh, the Hard Rock.
32:16Oh, there's a hotel.
32:17Hotel Casino with the Hard Rock.
32:19Yeah, the Hard Rock's really nice.
32:20And I like it.
32:21The venue there in Tulsa is Track 5.
32:23And we really love playing Track 5.
32:25But I think we're going to be playing maybe like 5 o'clock somewhere.
32:27I think we're playing more of like the Margarita Room, you know, stitch, the open room thing.
32:32It'll be fun.
32:33But, hey, we'll play anywhere.
32:34There you go.
32:35That's all we care about.
32:36You know, just being on the road and getting to play your music and stuff like that.
32:38It's such a privilege.
32:39So we always look forward to it.
32:41And, again, having bandmates through your friends makes it a really big difference.
32:44Yeah.
32:45Makes it all worth it.
32:46Get out there and have a good time and play your song and let the folks hear it.
32:49So we're going to let you get back to it.
32:51I know you're busy.
32:51You're busy up there.
32:52You need to go feed them ponies.
32:53I'm sure they're hungry looking for you.
32:54I do.
32:54It's about that time.
32:55It's about that time.
32:57Well, thank you so much for taking some time to promote my music, man.
33:00I really, really appreciate it.
33:01And we'll let the folks know to check you out and go catch you somewhere.
33:05Cool.
33:05Thank you, guys.
33:08All right.
33:09That was Allie Colleen.
33:10Allie Colleen.
33:11She's playing songs all across everywhere.
33:15She's singing songs.
33:17She's got a new song out she just told you about.
33:19And what else we need to tell you about is beef prices.
33:22Beef prices are high.
33:24Beef is up right now.
33:26It's going to come back down a little bit.
33:28But they did do a little checking, a little news story.
33:30So our buddies over at CBS put together a little video for you guys.
33:35Kind of keep up with the beef prices and what's been transpiring.
33:39So take a look at this and see what your thoughts are.
33:43Beef prices are hitting record highs in America's cattle supply is shrinking.
33:48Ranchers are dealing with drought, high costs, and even smaller herds.
33:52And rebuilding the nation's beef supply could take years.
33:55CBS News correspondent Ian Lee is in Wyoming with a look at what's driving prices higher
33:59and what it means for consumers.
34:05Livestock markets are the beating heart of the American beef industry.
34:09Moving cattle across the nation.
34:11And auctioneers like Lander Nicodemus keep their fingers on the pulse.
34:17How's it been this year?
34:19It's been a year that I hope we never do again.
34:22Nicodemus owns the Torrington Livestock Markets in Wyoming.
34:26Selling more than 450,000 head of cattle a year.
34:30We happen to raise the best staying beef in the world too.
34:33And I think it shows in consumer demand.
34:36Beef has never been more expensive.
34:38But ranchers aren't cashing in.
34:40They're fighting higher feed costs and severe drought.
34:43Pushing the U.S. cattle herd to its lowest level in decades.
34:48Guys were forced to make some really tough decisions this year and sell cattle that they didn't want to.
34:53Are you seeing people getting out of the business?
34:56Sadly, yes.
34:57In our case, it takes 30 to 40 acres to carry one cow.
35:01Mark Isley raises 1,500 head of cattle outside Cheyenne, Wyoming.
35:06What is the biggest hurdle to expanding the American herd?
35:11Probably the ability to obtain land.
35:14You can't compete with developers.
35:16As ranchers struggle to rebuild the American herd, the White House announced plans to bring in more than 660,000
35:23pounds of foreign beef to help lower prices.
35:26I love the ranchers, but they admit that we need a little help in order to get the prices down.
35:31So that's what we're doing.
35:33But in cattle country, folks say the move actually comes at their expense.
35:38This announcement came out.
35:40We had a 10 percent drop in the value of cattle overnight.
35:43If that was in any other market, it would be air shattering.
35:47We're going to have to observe that.
35:48Economists say the imports only account for about 2 percent of the beef Americans will consume.
35:54Is it likely to have a huge impact on retail prices?
35:57No.
35:57But University of Wyoming agricultural economist Chris Bastian says more foreign beef will add more financial pressure on ranchers.
36:05If we continue down the road of importing beef, that's going to continue to create risk and uncertainty for producers.
36:12We'll face continually tight supplies.
36:15Lander says the stakes go far beyond just the price of beef.
36:19What are we going to sell next year, you know, and who will still be in business is a really
36:24big concern.
36:24And I think it should be a big concern for the American consumer.
36:29I think our nation's food security is what has made this nation great.
36:35Ian Lee in southeast Wyoming.
36:38So there you go, calf.
36:40Calf prices, cow prices.
36:42They come back down a little bit.
36:43Not a lot.
36:45They're just people trying to figure out what they're going to do with that.
36:48Your Guinness record.
36:49Everybody wants a Guinness record.
36:50Who's got a long horsetail?
36:52Why you have it?
36:53Nobody knows.
36:54But the longest horsetail in the world is 13 feet long.
36:59The horse is ugly.
37:01And that tail is a terrible idea.
37:03That's got it.
37:04You got to have that thing tied up, wrapped up, put in a bag all the time until you stick
37:09it out.
37:09And then what do you have it out for?
37:11To take a picture?
37:12I had a video of this, and she was riding the horse around, dragging that tail around.
37:16That's a terrible idea.
37:17Cut it off.
37:18It should never touch the ground, guys.
37:19But that's just me.
37:21All right.
37:21We got shows.
