00:05my name is Grace Lombardo and I am a breast cancer survivor I had never had a tattoo before in
00:15my
00:15life and suddenly I was getting this big tattoo on my body to cover up these scars that were so
00:21sad and troubling to me I was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was 35 I had three small
00:29children at the time which made the diagnosis all the more devastating
00:44it's humbling working with these women you really see that you are part of the journey just for a
00:48day though you get to jump in and you hear stories he always does florals because they are organic and
00:56beautiful so he had picked four or five designs that he thought would look good for what I was
01:01hoping to achieve he does this cool process where he can transfer them onto your body as removable ink
01:09so you can see what they look like and I had to put on and it became clear which one
01:14was the winner
01:20you lay down on the table with this body that had been mutilated and wasn't yours anymore and then you
01:27stand up and you look in the mirror and suddenly it's covered by fine art it was astounding and I
01:33was truly stunned silent which is unusual and it took a couple of days for it to really sink in
01:40that it
01:40was mine and I got to keep it and now I look at it every day and just feel lucky
01:45I think it's women
01:49taking back control I think the idea is you've gone through whatever is going to happen you have to
01:55just let it happen because you want to exist you want to survive seeing grace look in the mirror was
02:00incredible it was like giving me a chance to see myself in a totally different way in a beautiful way
02:09that felt new it was freeing
