00:00We're gonna pretend to plant in a little bit and that's what this is for.
00:03I got my nails done green for this.
00:05Did you actually?
00:05I did.
00:06Wow.
00:06Green thumb.
00:09We can wrap.
00:14Hey guys, I'm Gabbie Hanna and if you haven't noticed, all my plants are dead.
00:18Adulting is hard, but luckily I have friends to help me weed through it all, like actress Chloe Bennett.
00:24Yay.
00:25Hi everyone, this is Chloe Bennett.
00:26I love you.
00:27So a toxic friendship is something that emotionally harms you instead of helps you.
00:31We all have that friend that kind of tests us sometimes, but how do you know when it is toxic?
00:36Are you ready, Chloe?
00:37I'm so ready.
00:38Today we're gonna find out if it's toxic or testy.
00:42They let their significant other eat your food without asking.
00:46That's testy for sure.
00:47That's totally contextual.
00:48I don't know.
00:49No, that's like, I'm such a like, everyone take everything.
00:54The same thing behind it though where it's like, I'm gonna have my significant other.
00:57Yeah, eat their food.
00:58Your friend unenthusiastically congratulates you on a job promotion.
01:02I guess it depends on the situation.
01:07Yeah.
01:08What their day is.
01:09Sometimes before I call a friend, I'll be like, do you have room to like, talk?
01:13Do you know what I mean?
01:14Yeah.
01:14And if they've said yes, and I have good news, then I mean either way.
01:19I mean, if they end up, no, that's, that's toxic.
01:22Yeah.
01:22Be happy for your friend.
01:23They borrow your clothes without asking.
01:26Oh, that's, that's just testy.
01:28Yeah.
01:30It's not even that, I don't even think it's testy.
01:31What is that bug?
01:35They repeatedly cancel plans with you and give you mediocre excuses.
01:39One of my best friends, Dave, is a guy and he, we like, if he, if he can, what's up,
01:44Dave?
01:44Is he single?
01:44I just went through a thing.
01:45He is single.
01:47I think so.
01:48Yeah, he is.
01:49It's actually Lil Dicky.
01:51That's who Dave is.
01:52What's up, Dave?
01:52Is it actually?
01:53Yeah, it is.
01:54So when Dave.
01:55For real.
01:56What up, Dave?
01:57So when Dave, you know, he's always really busy, but we're always like, you know, we both
02:02have busy schedules, but if we, I've definitely gotten on him like a bunch of times for being
02:06like, listen, if you don't prioritize this friendship, that's fine.
02:09I've just misunderstood what this friendship means.
02:12Like I hold all of my friends, whether it's platonic or romantic to the same level,
02:17because when you don't have a lot of time and who you surround yourself with to me is that
02:20is so important.
02:21Yeah.
02:22That like prioritizing a friend to me is as important as like relationships.
02:26Because then you're not putting all the pressure on your romantic relationship when you have
02:30one, if you have one, which I don't.
02:33So it's fine.
02:34They drain you of emotional energy when you see them.
02:38Oh.
02:38That one's easy for me.
02:41Everything I like just don't, obviously like I'm in a rough space in my life.
02:45I'm like, I mean, is it that toxic?
02:47I mean, I feel like people do that.
02:50Again, if I'm letting the person, that's kind of on me.
02:53You know what I mean?
02:53If someone's draining my energy, I'll be like, I actually can't right now.
02:56Can we talk about this at another time?
02:58Yeah.
02:58So I'd rather like say it to them and then just get it out.
03:01And then they're like continuously, then that's toxic.
03:04But if I say it and I'm like, I'm actually not in the space where I can do it,
03:07then that's just testy.
03:08They keep bringing around that one friend you cannot stand.
03:13Oh.
03:15That's just annoying.
03:17That's testy.
03:19Unless that person's like a terrible, terrible human.
03:22You know?
03:23Yeah.
03:23But if like they find them entertaining, I just won't really hang around them.
03:27Yeah.
03:27Like give me the space.
03:29So maybe it's testy.
03:30Maybe it's toxic.
03:31But if you do find yourself in a toxic friendship, here are some tips.
03:35Try communication.
03:36Talk to your friend.
03:37Let them know why you're upset and then see if anything changes from there.
03:40But at least give them the chance.
03:41But like if it doesn't change, you know, you just...
03:47If you do decide to end a friendship, it is hard.
03:49So give yourself the time to grieve just like any other breakup.
03:52It's kind of worse, honestly.
03:54It is worse.
03:55Way worse.
03:55It is worse.
03:56There's like less structure.
03:59This video is going to help.
04:00It's going to save lives.
04:02We're helping people.
04:02We're helping people.
04:04Oh, hey you guys.
04:05Didn't see you there.
04:06It's me, Chloe.
04:07I'm going to give you and you a plant tour.
04:11Very exciting.
04:12None of this is based in actual scientific fact.
04:14This is all just my opinion.
04:16Okay.
04:17So come with me.
04:18This looks fake.
04:20It's not.
04:20There's real dirt here.
04:21I don't think so.
04:22Tell me about this one.
04:23That's mother-in-law's tongue.
04:24Okay.
04:25I think that's not the official name but I think that's what people call it.
04:28We love a good nickname.
04:29But it's really sturdy.
04:30You can't kill that.
04:31This one, these are pretty trendy right now because you can like sniff these off and put
04:34them in a big vase and like minimal but cool.
04:37Is this for watering?
04:38Yeah.
04:39Oh, I keep one of those on my table so people water them for fun.
04:42Are you supposed to spray the leaves or the root?
04:44Just go for, I don't think the vase.
04:47I don't think the planter.
04:48These are the earlobe plants.
04:49What about these guys?
04:51Ferns.
04:52I like the way this looks.
04:53Yeah.
04:54This reminds me of Jurassic Park and Zach Galifianakis which are very different things.
04:59That is a chopstick.
05:03We're just washing away all of our toxic relationships.
05:06I feel like I'm enjoying it less.
05:09This is so nice.
05:12Well, we're working this out.
05:14We're working it out.
05:15And we are making it work.
05:16And listen, these plants are dead.
05:18Kind of.
05:18They're sort of alive.
05:19Except this one.
05:20These ones are.
05:21Yeah.
05:22They'll die soon.
05:23Our emotions are alive.
05:25Even though our plants are dead.
05:26Is that good enough?
