00:01Natural beauty can be found anywhere you look in ways that you've never
00:04considered to explore before. My name is Marielena and I am an artist from
00:08Venezuela. I experiment with avocados in different ways like using their core to
00:14create natural dyes for fabrics and sculptural pieces. There is a connection
00:19to my family home in Venezuela and the avocado tree from our backyard. I can't
00:23hold an avocado without thinking of home. My mother is an architect and my
00:29grandmothers were a singstries and a schoolteacher. Through their own work they
00:33gain an unique appreciation for beauty that is so much more than what it seems
00:37on the surface. To them beauty had everything to do with who you are as a
00:42person and what you can do with your own two hands. I remember when I was a little
00:47girl whenever anyone we knew in Venezuela would travel to the US my mother and my
00:52grandmother would ask them to bring back Estelle Lauder's advanced night repair for
00:57them. It wasn't only because they loved this iconic brown bottle so much. I think
01:02they really resonated with the idea of being an independent entrepreneurial
01:06woman who could see beauty beyond its face value and that's what this brand
01:10invited for them. I think of them and the heritage that I carry with me every day
01:15when I do the work that I do and when I use the same products they did to take care
01:19of
01:19my skin. Because seeing the full potential in the beauty of other things can only
01:25happen when you realize the potential of your own.
