00:00The child soldiers they are a warning
00:01Are you aware of the global morning video?
00:13Hi, welcome to Refinery29, I'm Connie
00:15and today I'm going to be learning how to parkour
00:18so for anyone that has a younger brother
00:20or if you've ever been on YouTube, you know what parkouring is
00:22it's when you, you know, flip
00:24and fall and
00:25jump off of buildings
00:27without hurting yourself
00:29then I guess I'm going to be learning how to do that today
00:32the only thing is I can't find my instructor
00:34he is somewhere in this park
00:35The experiment is effective by the observer
00:37I got a new dream I upload it on my server
00:39you want to buy me out, I say how about a merge
00:41and together we have purple and we look at purple
00:42Uh, Exo? Yes, Connie
00:45Connie, it's nice to meet you
00:46so I'm going to be learning how to do that later on
00:49Maybe not that exactly, but something like that
00:51So what is parkour?
00:53Parkour, as I define it
00:56is the art of fluid and efficient movement
00:57over obstacles and objects within one's path
01:00and of course you're only using the human body
01:02That's like the actual opposite
01:04of how I navigate my life
01:06So this might be a little bit of a challenge for me
01:08but I'm really gung ho about it
01:10Well that's all you need, you need an open mind and a willingness
01:11So who can parkour?
01:13Really anyone can parkour, but there's a level of parkour
01:16I believe for everyone, you know
01:17and really at the heart of parkour it's about finding yourself
01:19it's about being more in tune with your body
01:21and going at your pace
01:24How do we start?
01:26How do we start?
01:27Well first we start with the little rotations
01:29It's good to lubricate the joints
01:30especially when you get past a certain age
01:33So what equipment do you need in order to parkour?
01:37What should you wear?
01:38Honestly, really all you need is a good pair of trainers
01:40a good pair of running shoes with breathability
01:43So no helmet, like arm pads, knee pads
01:47It's funny because people think that you need that
01:49and they instinctually want to go there
01:50but the funny thing about it is that once you put all that stuff on
01:52it hinders your movement
01:53Alright, so let's do a basic exercise that we do in parkour
01:56everyone does this around the world
01:57It's called QM
01:59QM stands for quadrupedal movement
02:02and it's purpose is
02:03one, to lower your center of gravity
02:05and then the other thing is to get you more in touch
02:07with your animalistic nature
02:09Alright, so the next thing we're going to do
02:11is a parkour staple
02:12we could not skip it
02:14and that's because it's working on your core
02:16There you go, look at that
02:18Come on, you're always saying you can't do things that you clearly can do
02:20Of course
02:21Good job
02:22Alright
02:23Now let's go do some parkour
03:07So I am wiped out, you did a great job obviously
03:11because I'm going to need to spend the rest of my weekend on ice
03:14Yeah, so watch me taking a new route to work every single day
03:17and just like over people and cars
03:20Not so much people, they sue
