00:00I was shocked at first, and then you thought about where the team is
00:05and what they're capable of, especially after watching Caleb Williams
00:10play the last two games, and then the fact that Ryan Pose went after,
00:14of course, Jeffrey Simmons, who, man, is just an absolute monster,
00:18a game-changer, a guy you can line up anywhere on the offensive line.
00:22He affects the game on every play you watch him play.
00:25He plays an attitude.
00:26He competes.
00:27What he brings to the Chicago Bears, guys,
00:29I don't know if people really realize what he's about to,
00:34what Dennis Allen just got, what kind of piece he just got
00:37that can affect the whole football game, affect the offense,
00:40put strain on the offensive line and the play caller,
00:43and then Dennis Allen would see what he does with his defense anyway.
00:47This guy's a really, really good football player.
00:50If you were game planning, you know, in a week where you're leading up
00:53to a guy like Jeffrey Simmons and you're a center, you're you,
00:57and you're preparing for that, what's the feeling like,
01:01and what are you thinking about in terms of preparation?
01:04Well, you just know that you're going to have to provide help from wherever
01:08he lines up.
01:09You're going to have to provide help to your offensive line,
01:12and then your blocks just become just different, guys,
01:16just a little different when you're playing against a guy like Jeffrey Simmons.
01:18And an example I'll give you is we played against Albert Hainsworth,
01:22where he played for the Titans back in the day,
01:24and Jeff Fisher was the defensive coordinator.
01:26And I remember there was a block where me and Reuben Brown had to work together
01:30up to a linebacker.
01:32And I went up to the linebacker too quickly for going against a guy like
01:36Albert Hainsworth.
01:38And Reuben screamed at me, and I can't say the words he used on the field,
01:42but he said, what the hell are you doing?
01:43And I said, I got to get to the linebacker.
01:45He said, yeah, but this is Albert Hainsworth, right?
01:47So what he's telling me is we got to spend a little more time trying to get
01:51this guy blocking.
01:52Albert Hainsworth obviously had a tackle for a five-yard loss on that play
01:56because it didn't take long, which obviously frees up the linebacker, right?
02:00Frees up the linebacker, guys like T.J. Edwards, guys like Devin Bush,
02:04guys to make plays because now we're all concentrated on blocking this one
02:09defensive lineman.
02:09You put him next to Montez Sweat, and now them two become a huge problem.
02:14You put it next to Grady Jarrett.
02:15They become a problem.
02:17He just changes the whole way you block and have to prepare for games.
02:21You always have to be aware of where he's lining up and the technique you're
02:25going to use on him because he will rip your whole game plan if you let him.
