00:00The Faculty of Dentistry at El Bosque University has just received news that
00:04It recognizes years of work, innovation, and commitment to the training of health professionals.
00:11The renewal of its high-quality accreditation for eight years, the maximum period
00:15awarded in this process and who receives the program for the first time.
00:20To find out what's behind this recognition and what it means for students and teachers
00:24And regarding the training of future dentists, we spoke with María Rosa Buenahora Tobar.
00:30Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry.
00:32Receiving high-quality accreditation for the fifth time represents the consolidation of a
00:38permanent culture of excellence, self-evaluation and improvement.
00:43However, having obtained high-quality accreditation for the first time by a
00:47The eight-year period is a recognition of maturity, strength, and sustainability.
00:53of our processes, both academic and investigative, clinical and social outreach.
00:59The training of future dentists is currently undergoing some transformations.
01:05profound because there are a great many scientific advances, but we also have a great
01:11number of technological advances and new needs of society.
01:15Today, for example, we incorporate a lot of simulation technology into education, and into treatments.
01:23We incorporate digital dentistry technology, data analysis, and even artificial intelligence.
01:30artificial.
01:30Similarly, we strengthen learning experiences in community settings, and this
01:36It's very important because we've been doing this for many years.
01:39We do community-based practice, but we also go into hospitals and provide care.
01:46comprehensive and of course a permanent clinical practice.
01:50This also allows our students to understand the realities of our populations
01:55and respond to needs with a much more comprehensive view of health.
02:00For our faculty, receiving accreditation for eight years doesn't really mean a point.
02:06of arrival, but on the contrary, it means taking on many new challenges and responsibilities.
02:12I believe one of our main challenges is to continue anticipating all those changes.
02:18from higher education to the changes in dentistry, which are also rapidly
02:24changing, to the changing health needs of the population, but always maintaining
02:30that target and that projection of academic excellence that has always characterized us.
02:36We also, of course, want to continue strengthening research and internationalization,
02:42our postgraduate training and that very important interdisciplinary work.
02:48Always promoting better academic coordination and more comprehensive health services,
02:54to be able to enter the productive sector and the communities and to continue always promoting projects
03:01that contribute to solving the major oral health challenges in the country.
03:06This achievement also demonstrates that we are not the only ones who maintain high quality standards,
03:11but we work systematically to innovate and transform ourselves, and in that way
03:17to be able to respond to the changing needs of both the profession and higher education
03:22and of society. This recognition is also the result of the commitment of the entire community,
03:28Students, professors, graduates, administrators, and allies have all contributed to building
03:35a faculty that learns, evaluates, and improves continuously.
03:40The accreditation recognizes the faculty's work and presents new challenges. Now the goal will be
03:45to keep it achieved and continue preparing future dentists for changes and needs
03:51of a constantly evolving profession.
