00:06You choose to give yourself to me.
00:08Theo, no!
00:10I'm to be sacrificed to the god of war on your wedding day.
00:13But if you take my virginity, the offering of my body will be rejected and I'll be saved.
00:18Malin, to do so would curse our city.
00:23Can you watch me die after seeing me so exposed?
00:28You are Theo's sister.
00:31Perhaps saving you from being sacrificed to the god of war is the right thing to do.
00:36You can have me whenever you want, even after you're married to my sister.
00:41If there are nights she cannot please you, you can come to me and I will satisfy your every need.
00:56How dare you betray me like this?
01:00You mock Whitzel with your actions, Zuma.
01:03And you mock me as your future wife.
01:06Of all people, my own sister?
01:09Mind your tone, sister.
01:11This is the future emperor you're talking to.
01:13Remember, we live to serve him.
01:15In every way we physically can.
01:20Don't make a fuss over this, Theo.
01:22It changes nothing for us.
01:27It changes everything, Zuma.
01:29You have had sex with my sister before me.
01:31And you have put your own people at risk.
01:34She was born to be a sacrifice.
01:36That was always my sister's fate.
01:37What do you know of sacrifice, Theo?
01:39Do you even know how they do it?
01:41They keep you alive while they cut your chest open so Whitzel can see that your heart is pure.
01:45Would you cut yourself open for your people?
01:47You've never even cut back an hour of sleep.
01:49Zuma is my hero.
01:50He saved me.
01:51Since you've already taken my sister, you can keep her.
01:54Marry her instead.
01:55I will leave the palace and never stand before you again.
01:57You're my future bride.
01:59You do what I say and I say we're still getting married.
02:03Do you even love me?
02:04Of course I do.
02:05Love and sex are different.
02:08As emperor, I will take many concubines, but you are the only one who will stand beside me as my
02:13wife.
02:14I can get his body on my own, but to make him toss her aside, I'll have to use sorcery.
02:20But I can't get caught or they'll execute me for witchcraft.
02:25No.
02:26Now that I've tasted your sister, she's the one I truly crave.
02:29He's mine now, along with his empire.
02:48You gave yourself to me willingly.
02:52But to make sure you stay willing, I'll keep you under my spell.
02:58Yes, my love.
03:17The god of war knows his sacrifice defied him.
03:20By betraying me, my betrothed and my sister have damned us all to a terrible fate.
03:25I have to plead for mercy.
03:29Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on, come on.
03:50Ritila is terrifying.
03:52I cannot disrespect this god.
03:54Please, Whitsid, mighty god of war, spare our city.
03:57Forgive Malin and Zuma.
03:58They were selfish and short-sighted when they ruined your sacrifice.
04:06Who are you to pray for the sin of another?
04:19I'm so sorry, my lord.
04:21What will you do?
04:22If you will not offer an appropriate sacrifice willingly,
04:25I will take all the sacrifices I desire from your people until my anger is satisfied.
04:33Unless an even more appealing sacrifice can be made instead.
04:37Like you.
04:39You want me to be your sacrifice, my lord?
04:42Yes.
04:43I need a blood and body tribute.
04:48To do with as I please.
04:50But I don't want to die.
04:53You have no choice.
04:56Now that I've seen your radiant soul, I must possess it.
05:00Either sacrifice yourself willingly and save your city.
05:07Or I will rain hell down and take you anyway.
05:19That death and destruction is what will happen if you refuse.
05:23I will come for you soon.
05:43I will come for you soon.
05:52You may choose how.
05:55It can't be.
05:57Zuma's only ever loved you.
05:58It doesn't matter now.
06:00Zuma took Malin's sacred gift so he can marry her in my place.
06:04I will be sacrificed to the god of war, Huitzel's in her place.
06:07We can't allow you to do that.
06:09We've invested too much in you as our son's bride.
06:12It would be wasted if you are sacrificed.
06:14I will not marry Zuma and Huitzel still requires a sacrifice.
06:17This is the best path forward.
06:18We must conceal Teo's identity during the sacrifice, as well as Malin's.
06:25Huitzel and Zuma expect different brides.
06:28We will host the wedding and sacrificial ceremonies at the same time, three days from now.
06:34And the identities of the blood offering and the bride shall remain a secret to all.
06:38Teo, prepare a sacrificial headdress and mask for yourself.
06:41I will have a bridal covering made for your sister.
06:46Zuma, I hope you are sure of your choice.
06:49Because once I'm gone, you can't change your mind.
06:55They haven't cancelled Malin's sacrificial ceremony yet.
06:57She may yet still be offered up to Weedseal.
07:01Malin is not going to be sacrificed.
07:03You made sure of that by taking her virginity.
07:10How could you be angry?
07:11I did this for you.
07:12She's your sister and I saved her.
07:17And when you warm her bed after our marriage, what reason will you give then?
07:23Don't be naive.
07:25Every emperor has concubines.
07:26You didn't expect to be the only woman I taste for the rest of my life, did you?
07:32You're right.
07:33I was naive.
07:35I'd hoped I'd be enough.
07:37But my own sister?
07:38Don't you see how wrong that is?
07:41Then make sure you satisfy me day and night.
07:44And I won't touch her again.
07:47You told me she's the only one you crave now.
07:50I never said that.
07:58But Malin is superior to you in every way.
08:01I wish she'd been the one chosen as my empress and you were the sacrifice.
08:04Zuma, my dear.
08:05Be kind to Teo.
08:07She's not strong enough for this harsh world.
08:12Get back to work.
08:14Your wedding is soon.
08:17You mock me.
08:18I won't have it.
08:21Teo!
08:22Why must you be so violent?
08:25Apologize to your sister, Teo.
08:26I won't let you treat her this way.
08:30I don't understand, Zuma.
08:32How can you talk to me like this?
08:34Have you forgotten all our moments together?
08:41You're a jealous, spiteful girl, and I'm ashamed to be engaged to you.
08:45Apologize now or I'll get the whip and lash you until you do.
08:52I would rather die than apologize.
08:54Don't yell at her, Zuma.
08:55She was raised to be above me.
08:57Even if she hurt me on purpose, it's my lot in life to have such abuse.
09:00You blame me for doing what I did to save Malin?
09:03But look at what a good person she is.
09:05I wish I was marrying her instead.
09:08You know, Zuma, you'll get your wish soon enough.
09:15I was meant to help rule over my people.
09:17Instead, I must die for them.
09:23Still pouting?
09:24You've made enough of a show, you can drop the act now.
09:26He still thinks Malin's fall was all my fault.
09:28I gathered the beads and restrung this.
09:30Next time, take better care of the gifts I give you.
09:33Take better care?
09:34When you're the one who broke it?
09:35Stop making everything a fight.
09:37Turn around so I can put it on you.
09:46Do I get a thank you for fixing your necklace for you?
09:52Still trying to win him back?
09:54I will enchant him for as long as it takes to destroy you, Teo.
10:00Now that you have your necklace back, I must go find Malin.
10:03I want to enjoy her body as much as I can before I'm forced to marry you.
10:10I want to enjoy her body as much as I can.
10:12Oh!
10:22Got one.
10:23This will be the perfect pig to roast for tomorrow's wedding.
10:30Such a violent slaughter.
10:32And yet, more merciful than mine will be tomorrow.
10:38My death will not be quick.
10:41I will be kept alive, chest open for as long as I can bear it.
10:47Sometimes it takes hours for Huitzil to determine your worthiness and end your suffering, your heart exposed all the while.
10:56Is this really my last stroll in the garden?
11:00Every one of my life's fondest moments bloomed alongside the flowers in this garden.
11:13What happened to Zuma?
11:15We were raised to love each other.
11:16But now he's with my sister?
11:18One minute he is kind, the next cruel.
11:20Does he even want to marry me anymore?
11:23Who has Zuma become?
11:24What does a future look like with a man like that?
11:36I would rather die a horrible death than be married to a man who burns for my sister.
11:44Teo, I am here to escort you to the ceremonial vesti for your wedding preparations.
12:05Claw marks.
12:09If I die instantly, I can escape a slow, painful death.
12:17Why have they brought me here?
12:19I cannot be sacrificed.
12:22Let me remind you, your groom so selflessly took my virginity.
12:28Yes, Malin.
12:29Which is why he deserves you as his bride.
12:32I will be Huitzel's sacrifice.
12:34You'd rather your chest split open than watch your one and only love desire me for the rest of your
12:40woteful life?
12:41Smart decision, sister.
12:43Too bad there's no way you have the guts to follow through.
13:00You should put it on me, sister dear.
13:03Of course, sister.
13:11Solid gold.
13:13Much more precious than your drabby, beaded one.
13:27This is it.
13:28I'm about to be sacrificed to the god of war.
13:33It's time.
13:34My groom's lust leads him down the aisle to wed my sister, and I shoulder the sacrifice of our city,
13:39offering my life to the god of war.
13:59The emperor and empress decided to keep it a secret that my sister and I switched places.
14:03I never got to say goodbye to Zuma.
14:17We bind your clothing as a sign of your marital bonds, and public promise to share one body, one heart,
14:25one soul.
14:27You may not remove her mask until the ceremony is finished.
14:34Something feels awful.
14:36Why can't I see Teo's face?
14:43Whatever pain awaits me will be nothing compared to the pain Zuma has put me through.
15:00You are now recognized by supreme rule as husband and wife.
15:03Zuma, she is yours.
