A 20-year-old Airstream gets a full gut renovation and comes back with a residential queen bed, an incinerating toilet, and a layout that feels far bigger than 19 feet. Jerry walks Patrick through the rebuilt 2006 Airstream Safari Bambi 75th Anniversary Edition, nicknamed the “Jerr Stream,” after P&S Trailer Service finished the custom redesign.
The tour covers the exterior upgrades and the smart changes that made off-grid travel easier: a 3-inch lift, LED lights, tankless water heater, backup camera, dual propane tanks, and deleted vents where the old systems no longer needed them. Inside, the trailer now has vinyl plank flooring, creamy white walls, butcher block counters, extra storage, a deep sink, a propane range, a shower with a bench, and a surprisingly spacious pantry and bed area.
The biggest transformation is the bathroom setup, where the black tank is gone entirely thanks to the Cinderella incinerating toilet. Jerry also explains how the trailer was redesigned for comfortable couple’s camping, tall travelers, and easier towing with a Ford F-150 Tremor.
Created for fans of Airstream renovation, RV walkthroughs, camper van build inspiration, and tiny trailer floor plans, this tour is packed with practical ideas for glamping, off-grid camping, and lightweight travel trailer design. If you search for Airstream remodel, custom RV interior, small camper tour, or innovative couple’s camper build, this one delivers plenty to study and enjoy.

00:00It's funny because the previous owner, it was beautiful.
00:03People couldn't believe that I was going to rip it apart,
00:05but I knew we needed those two things, and we wanted a small trailer,
00:09and there's no doubt that we would get an Airstream because they're classic.
00:13Welcome back to the show.
00:15This is Patrick with New Jersey's Outdoor Adventures YouTube channel.
00:19Today's show, we have an Airstream.
00:21Not just any Airstream.
00:22This is a completely renovated Airstream travel trailer.
00:25It's 20 years old, but the inside is brand new.
00:29Geri's passing through the area today.
00:31She's going to give us a full tour inside and out,
00:33and wait until you see this thing.
00:34It's got an incinerating toilet, so join us for the tour.
00:39Hi, Patrick.
00:40Thank you so much for having me on your channel today.
00:43This Airstream, I've been watching your channel for years,
00:46and I thought, I'm in New Jersey.
00:49Patrick is an Airstream guy.
00:50I have to show him this.
00:52So this is a 2006 Airstream Safari.
00:56It's a 75th anniversary edition Bambi.
00:59It's 19 feet long, about 8 1⁄2 feet wide, or 8 feet wide, 9 1⁄2 feet tall.
01:05The unique thing about this Airstream, there are actually three things.
01:09One is it has an incinerating toilet, which is my favorite thing about it.
01:13Two, it has a queen-sized bed, a residential queen.
01:16And three, you sold it to someone in New Jersey 20 years ago,
01:20so I figured you were the best person to see it 20 years later.
01:25Okay, so just to start the tour, Airstream is pretty standard,
01:29what they have on the outside.
01:31When we bought it, my husband and I are both new to camping,
01:36and so I knew that I wanted something more elevated and easier for me
01:42because I'm not used to what's entailed in hauling a trailer
01:45or camping at a campground.
01:47So we knew we wanted to renovate it and redesign it.
01:50So we started it, my dad and I started it in 2022 when I bought it,
01:56but it became evident after we did a few things that we were in over our heads.
02:00So to finish it off, I took it out to P&S Trailer Service in Ohio,
02:04and they work exclusively on Airstreams, and they finished it out for me.
02:08So I'll show you what they did and also what we did.
02:11To start out, all of the lights that you see on the outside,
02:14P&S upgraded it to the LED lights.
02:18The awning that you see is the original awning.
02:22It's a Zip-D, and these things last forever.
02:24It's wonderful.
02:25P&S put in some extra, you know, knobs and replaced some things that had been old.
02:32Originally, this had a single step on it,
02:35but we had P&S put a three-inch lift on the Airstream
02:39so we could take it slightly off-road,
02:42and they put the extra step in there for me.
02:45On this side, I bought one of these anti-lock things
02:49because I'd watched a lot of videos,
02:51and everyone talks about how they lock themselves out of their trailer accidentally.
02:54So I wanted to have that.
02:57This has a screen, and it closes.
03:01It's really nice.
03:02I didn't think it would keep the bugs out as well as it does,
03:04but it's pretty good.
03:05To get into the trailer, there's a grab handle on the outside,
03:09and there's also one on the inside.
03:12There's a light, like a patio light for the evening,
03:17and then moving around here.
03:21Originally, the Airstream had a propane fridge,
03:24and so they had a big vent here,
03:26and the man we bought it from had put in a 12-volt fridge,
03:31so we didn't need the venting anymore.
03:33So when I talked to the guys at P&S,
03:36we opted to put an aluminum panel over it
03:39so that it could be insulated from the cold.
03:42In addition, we have outlets over here
03:45that, again, are pretty standard on Airstream.
03:48We have a TPS tire pressure monitoring system on the tires,
03:53and then this is just a leveling level, I guess.
03:58Over here, this used to be the storage
04:00for a four-gallon water heater.
04:03We had replaced it with a 12-volt tankless water heater,
04:08so I had the guys at P&S make this into a storage compartment,
04:12which is perfect.
04:12I keep my tools in here and anything related to fire,
04:17like some fire starters, kindling, things like that.
04:20And then moving around, you see more of the light upgrades.
04:24Back here, this is pretty standard on Airstream.
04:27It just keeps some tools, the awning tool in it.
04:30This storage compartment is massive,
04:33and I keep all of my electrical cords in there,
04:37hoses, and really just anything I don't have room for,
04:41I stick in there, and it's like a Mary Poppins purse.
04:45I can fit everything in there.
04:46One of the things we added was a backup camera,
04:49and it's a halo.
04:50It's wired into the trailer,
04:52and then there's a monitor in the truck,
04:54and it works great.
04:56This is the RecPro tankless water heater
04:59that we had installed.
05:01It's great.
05:02The water stays hot for a very long time,
05:05and I like the idea that it didn't have a tank in it
05:10that I would have to worry about winterizing.
05:13Down here, one of the unique features on this
05:15is we got rid of the black tank
05:18because we don't have a traditional toilet.
05:20We have an incinerating toilet.
05:22So P&S put on a new valve for me,
05:25and this just empties the gray tank.
05:29Over here's your 30-amp shore power connection,
05:33and then city water,
05:35and then coming down here is the fresh water.
05:38These things here,
05:39there was a vent here that we didn't need anymore,
05:43so they covered that up,
05:44and then that was an exhaust fan for a cooktop,
05:47and we got rid of that.
05:49Down here is storage for the wastewater hose,
05:51and then that is a vent.
05:53It's part of the Cinderella incinerating toilet.
05:55It's an air intake valve,
05:57and then at the top, there is the exhaust valve,
06:01and then coming around here,
06:04we have these splash guards that protect the trailer,
06:09and then the man we bought the Airstream from
06:13gave us this Blue Ox weight distribution hitch,
06:15which has been really nice.
06:18Here, we just have the standard lead-acid batteries,
06:22but we were talking about upgrading to lithium.
06:24We just haven't done that yet.
06:28Here are the propane tanks.
06:30I believe they're 30-pound propane tanks,
06:35and an electric, what is this called?
06:38A hitch lowering.
06:40It lowers, anyway.
06:41I forget what it's called,
06:42but it's electric, which is really nice.
06:45We have a Ford F-150 Tremor that we used to tow her,
06:50but this is like a 4,500 gross weight trailer,
06:55and you could tow her on like an SUV, a bigger SUV,
06:59but my husband always wanted a truck,
07:01so we bought the Tremor,
07:02and it doesn't feel like you're towing anything behind you.
07:05It's so beefy, so I highly recommend.
07:09Coming back around,
07:11oh, I forgot about the leveling jacks.
07:14So underneath are leveling jacks,
07:15and I have a drill that I use sometimes
07:19to lower them automatically,
07:20but the hand crank really isn't that hard,
07:23and so I usually end up using that
07:25instead of working with the drill.
07:27This is the emergency escape window,
07:29and then just some windows on the side.
07:32Okay, I think we'll go inside.
07:36This is the part I'm most excited about
07:38because when we bought her,
07:41like I said, the man we bought her from
07:43took meticulous care,
07:45and it was in really good shape,
07:46but since my husband and I hadn't camped before,
07:50and I knew I wanted a queen-size bed,
07:52and we also knew we wanted a small trailer
07:56because we were just nervous
07:57about towing for the first time.
07:59He is 6'3",
08:00so the original layout had like a double bed,
08:04and that wasn't going to hack it.
08:05So I knew that we wanted the queen-size bed,
08:09and I also knew I wanted an incinerating toilet.
08:12So I looked at the 16,
08:14not possible to fit what we needed in the 16.
08:17The 20 was possible,
08:18except based on the location of the door
08:20and the dinette,
08:21it wasn't going to be that easy
08:23to put the queen-size bed.
08:24There were many more 19 feet on the market as well,
08:27so we went with this,
08:29and we're really happy.
08:30So come on in.
08:31I'm really excited to show it to you.
08:36Okay, so originally,
08:38when we bought the trailer,
08:40the previous owner had put
08:42just like a linoleum floor on,
08:44and my dad and I ripped that out,
08:48and we put down this vinyl plank flooring,
08:50and it has a little bit of insulation in it,
08:52so it's really comfortable.
08:54The other,
08:55one of the other big changes
08:56that Airstream in 2006 put,
08:59it almost looked like a carpet
09:00on the inside of the trailer,
09:03and I didn't like that.
09:05So we ripped the carpet down,
09:08sanded it,
09:08and then painted the interior
09:10this creamy white,
09:11and that was one of those things
09:12you think it's not going to be that bad,
09:14and it took forever.
09:15But I'm glad I did it.
09:16I'm really happy with the outcome.
09:18So one of the other things we did,
09:20the Airstream dinette
09:22had a table that kind of hooks into the wall,
09:24and it also had a really thick bolster
09:27so that you can convert it into a bed.
09:29I opted to get rid of that table,
09:32and we put in this pedestal table
09:33that underneath,
09:35you just pull those levers,
09:37and it lowers really easily,
09:38and it also raises really easily.
09:40On the side,
09:41I wanted more storage
09:43because I knew storage
09:44was going to be important.
09:45So we had P&S Trailer
09:47build us cabinets on either side,
09:50and this one we keep,
09:51you know,
09:52Swiffer in there,
09:53and we keep a lot of our dog stuff in there.
09:56We have a small dog who travels with us.
09:58I put in some shoe holders there
10:01for our camp shoes,
10:02and then on this side,
10:05you can lift this up
10:07and there's storage under that,
10:08and I haven't even needed to use it yet
10:10because we have a lot of storage everywhere.
10:13So under each of these cushions
10:15is the fresh water tank.
10:18So on the left is the original one.
10:21Originally, it had a 24-gallon tank,
10:23and then P&S added another 18-gallon water tank under here.
10:27So we have a ton of water
10:29if we're ever off-grid,
10:30which has been really nice.
10:32I don't have to be stingy
10:33washing the dishes or taking a shower.
10:36When I did the redesign,
10:39one of the things that we opted to do
10:41was put in a big sink,
10:43and it's very deep.
10:44I mean, big is relative.
10:45For an RV, this is big.
10:47So we have this sink.
10:48This comes off.
10:49If I really wanted to,
10:51I could pop this screen out
10:51and take an outdoor shower.
10:53It has a soap dispenser
10:55and also a water filter,
10:57so we always have clean water to drink.
11:00At the top is a storage compartment.
11:04We usually keep our toiletries and things in here
11:06because we use this sink.
11:08And then underneath
11:11is just more storage.
11:12We also have our systems monitor there
11:15because we don't need to see it all the time,
11:16but whenever I need to know how much water we have
11:19or how much the gray water tank is full,
11:22we do that.
11:23We got these latches,
11:25which are great
11:25because it keeps the doors from flying open,
11:28and you also don't have to slam them
11:30and make a lot of noise
11:31for those automatic catches.
11:33One of the things that I did
11:35was I made all of these curtains in the trailer,
11:38and basically they're just Target blackout curtains
11:40that I hemmed and sewed
11:42and put on these leather straps,
11:44and they work out great.
11:46Over here, I actually got this on Etsy.
11:48It's just a cover for your standard lights
11:51that you see all over the trailer,
11:53but I needed her to be a little fancy,
11:55so we kept that.
11:57All right, and then here,
11:58we have a ton of storage.
12:01P&S replaced the original locker
12:03just to give me more space,
12:04and I have so much stuff in here.
12:06I have the mini Starlink
12:10that has been great,
12:12and then I just keep other things
12:13like extra blankets up there
12:15and games.
12:18Okay, walking...
12:19Oh, over here,
12:20this is one of the original fans.
12:22It's a fantastic fan.
12:23It has a rain sensor,
12:24so it will turn off when it's raining,
12:26which is nice.
12:27We replaced all of the lights,
12:29interior lights,
12:30with these LED,
12:32and you can adjust the temperature,
12:34like the warmth temperature on it,
12:35which is great.
12:36Moving down this way
12:38to the kitchen area,
12:40I'm really happy
12:42with the Butcher Block countertops.
12:44They're great,
12:44and then this lifts up,
12:46and I use it all the time.
12:47It locks in place,
12:48and it's really easy,
12:50and when you're cooking,
12:51it's perfect.
12:52I wanted a propane range,
12:54and this has been really nice.
12:56I did some research,
12:57and this seemed to be
12:58the preferred range
13:00from people I talked to,
13:01so we used that,
13:03and then under here,
13:06I realized after I had P&S
13:08build the trailer
13:09that I hadn't designed
13:11or accounted for any drawers,
13:12which was not smart,
13:13so I found on Amazon
13:15a set of drawers,
13:16and I just modified them
13:17and installed them myself,
13:18and then to keep the pan
13:20from moving around too much,
13:22I just cut that out
13:23and sanded it,
13:23put some polyurethane on it,
13:25but this holds utensils
13:27and all the tools
13:29you need to cook.
13:31There's storage under there,
13:33and where that basket is,
13:35P&S left space,
13:36and they ran a propane line
13:38so that later I could put
13:39a propane heater in there
13:41if I wanted.
13:42Speaking of the propane heater,
13:44right now we just use heat
13:45if we need it
13:46from this air conditioning unit.
13:48It's electric.
13:49We've actually not done
13:50any winter camping,
13:51so we don't really need that,
13:53but we've used it once or twice
13:55when it's been cold,
13:56and it's just enough
13:57to take the chill off.
13:58It's perfect.
13:59Back here,
14:00this is another thing
14:01that I did myself.
14:02It's just peel-and-stick
14:04backsplash,
14:05and it lasted.
14:07I mean,
14:08it has not come off
14:09or anything.
14:10It's really great.
14:11Up at the top,
14:13this is where we keep
14:15our plates,
14:17utensils,
14:18cups,
14:19and then just bowls,
14:20like mixing bowls
14:21and salad bowls and things.
14:22And this,
14:23I'm surprised how much
14:24I can fit in this trailer.
14:26This countertop,
14:28I want it open
14:28so that I can store things.
14:30I put fruits and vegetables
14:31in this,
14:31and then this is
14:33a 12-volt Vitri-Frigo fridge.
14:37It's,
14:37I think it's 4.2 liters,
14:40and I always laugh
14:41at van videos
14:42because they're like,
14:43it holds as much as we need,
14:44but it really does,
14:45which I didn't believe it,
14:47but it holds just what you need.
14:49With the space underneath,
14:50I just put that basket there
14:52to hold a little vacuum
14:55that I'll use just to clean up,
14:57like I'll use it
14:58after I leave here today.
14:59Over here,
15:01this pantry
15:02was really important to me,
15:03and the guys at P&S
15:04did a great job.
15:05Back here,
15:06it's a huge cabinet.
15:07I fit my towels in there,
15:09all kinds of things.
15:10A loaf of bread
15:11can fit in the top.
15:13Down here,
15:14I put this latch on
15:15just to protect it
15:18from falling out
15:18when it gets heavy,
15:19but this,
15:20and some things have fallen,
15:21this pantry holds so much stuff.
15:24I have, you know,
15:26tea and coffee,
15:27and there's some salsa,
15:28whatever you need.
15:29It's not really full right now,
15:31but you can fit a ton in there.
15:34Down here is another storage compartment,
15:37and I really just wanted
15:38to take advantage
15:39of all the space,
15:39so I just have
15:41a little dustpan
15:42and room in there.
15:44Okay,
15:45over here is the shower,
15:46and it's a 24 by 24 shower,
15:51but because it's over the wheel well,
15:53they were able to put in this bench,
15:55so that's been really great.
15:57It also has the Nautilus sliding door,
16:03which is perfect
16:04because you don't have to worry
16:05about mold or anything,
16:06and the shower head is great
16:07as well as the light and the fan.
16:11One of the things
16:12that was really important
16:13was since my husband's tall,
16:15he needed to be able
16:16to fit in here.
16:17Now, he still,
16:18he has to duck
16:19because he is tall.
16:20I fit great,
16:21and he does duck a little bit,
16:22but it's much better
16:23than what we thought
16:24it would be.
16:26Yeah,
16:26and it's just a really,
16:27it's a really great shower.
16:29It's aluminum walls,
16:29so the water just washes right off.
16:32Okay,
16:33now one of the highlights
16:34and my favorite thing
16:36about this trailer,
16:37you know,
16:38we were not campers.
16:40One of the things
16:41that were holding me back,
16:42I was retiring from teaching,
16:43and I knew I wanted
16:44to see the country,
16:45and my husband was like,
16:46yeah,
16:46let's do it,
16:47but I didn't want a black tank
16:49because I heard horror stories
16:50about the black tank.
16:51I also didn't want
16:52a composting toilet
16:53because I just didn't want
16:54to worry about my waste.
16:56I just wanted it
16:58to go away on its own,
16:59so I did my research,
17:01and I found this,
17:02we call this the throne room,
17:04and this is
17:06a Cinderella incinerating toilet.
17:09Oh,
17:09I can't fit around there.
17:10It runs on propane,
17:12and what's really nice
17:14about it is
17:14we have the two big propane tanks,
17:16and it doesn't use
17:17that much propane.
17:18It's been perfect.
17:20The cycle is about
17:2190 minutes for it to burn,
17:23and I'll just show you
17:23how it works.
17:27So to use this toilet,
17:30you lift it up,
17:32lift up the seat.
17:34They have these liners,
17:35which my husband calls
17:36coffee filters.
17:37They look like big
17:37waxed coffee filters,
17:39and you put that,
17:40it just sits in there.
17:42Let me see if I can do it.
17:44I don't know if this
17:44will take too long.
17:46But you open it up,
17:51you put it in there,
17:53you close this,
17:55and you do your business.
17:57And then when you're done,
17:59you close that,
18:00you hit this button,
18:02it drops it down
18:03into this metal chamber,
18:05and then it starts heating up.
18:07It looks like the coil
18:09from like a cigarette lighter,
18:11an old cigarette lighter,
18:12is kind of what it's in it.
18:14But it burns everything up,
18:16the liquid waste,
18:17solid waste,
18:18and it's ash when you're done,
18:19and you can dispose of it anywhere,
18:21a garbage can even on the ground,
18:23because it's completely sanitary.
18:26Even though it's a 90-minute cycle,
18:28you can go one after the other.
18:31So if you go and it's burning,
18:34someone goes in,
18:35when you lift the lid,
18:35it stops,
18:36and you can do your business.
18:38And then when you're done,
18:39you push the button,
18:40it drops back in,
18:41and it picks up the burning cycle.
18:43The only time it's ever been an issue
18:45with the time is
18:46if we're leaving a campground,
18:49we want to make sure
18:50that we have enough time
18:51for it to burn
18:51because we're not driving
18:53with the propane on
18:54and the ash going.
18:56I added this here just for fun.
18:59I was a history teacher,
19:00and when I saw this
19:01peel-and-stick wallpaper,
19:02it made me laugh.
19:04I mean, who doesn't love
19:05Ben Franklin with a beer?
19:06So I got that,
19:08put that in there,
19:09and I also designed it
19:11to go this way
19:12because my husband is tall,
19:13and he can fit in there,
19:15but sometimes he feels
19:18a little claustrophobic,
19:19so it opens this way,
19:21and that way I can sit over there,
19:23and he can open the door
19:24and have privacy.
19:26And so it's been great.
19:28And there's a 12-volt light
19:30in there that I added as well.
19:31But the incinerator toilet
19:33is the best thing ever.
19:35I highly recommend.
19:37Okay, the other favorite thing
19:38that I have in here
19:39is the bed,
19:41and I'll step up this way
19:43so you can see it.
19:44This is a residential
19:46queen-size bed.
19:48It's 60 inches by 80 inches,
19:50and it has a 10-inch foam mattress.
19:54This is the most comfortable bed we own.
19:57My husband and I sleep better
19:58in this than we do anywhere else.
20:00I'm going to climb back here.
20:01Excuse my climbing.
20:03Just to show you on either side,
20:06these lift up.
20:09Usually it's easier.
20:11There you go.
20:11And it's really deep,
20:12so you can keep things in there
20:14like laundry bags,
20:15dirty clothes,
20:16extras of anything.
20:17And this lifts over here as well,
20:19but I have things on top of it now.
20:23But that lifts,
20:24and you can store it in there.
20:25We got these bedside reading lights,
20:28and they also have USB charging ports in them,
20:32so we charge our phone there at night.
20:34Then on the right,
20:36that remote control operates
20:37the Max Air fan that we bought.
20:40This was an addition.
20:40It used to have a hand crank fan,
20:43and we got this,
20:44and it's one that has like a built-in lid,
20:48for lack of a better term,
20:49so it can operate even when it's raining.
20:52Under the bed,
20:53we have a ton of storage.
20:56There's a huge space under there,
20:57and I just put this giant basket
21:00that I found with HomeGoods,
21:01and we store all kinds of things,
21:03and that's also where the electrical system is,
21:05so the fuse box and everything in there.
21:08We haven't had to change any fuses,
21:10but it's really easy to get to if I need to.
21:14Well, Jerry, this is awesome.
21:15I really appreciate the opportunity
21:18to geek out on your Airstream.
21:22It's especially special
21:24because I sold this trailer 20 years ago.
21:27You know, you think about me being in the RV business
21:30as long as I have,
21:31committed to Airstream as long as I have.
21:34And I see trailers,
21:36and I see my badge on the back,
21:37and I'm like, I sold that, you know?
21:39And it's nice to see how they transform.
21:42This trailer, brand new,
21:44was a pretty special trailer.
21:46Oh, yeah.
21:4775th anniversary,
21:49Safari Bambi, 19CB,
21:51they called her, 19C,
21:52they nicknamed it.
21:53And I was looking at the original photos
21:55because you have an Instagram
21:57that shows,
21:58and I'll put a link to that Instagram
22:00in the video description
22:01if anyone wants to check this out,
22:02like the process,
22:04but it was like some olive print cushion.
22:08I forget the name that it was called back then,
22:11but it was like a green
22:12with a swirly olive looking thing.
22:14And, you know,
22:15that was cool back then,
22:16but, you know,
22:16things get dated.
22:17You kept the original tone of the color,
22:21but have a more modern style print.
22:24And I like,
22:25instead of just laminate countertops,
22:27you got the butcher block on the table,
22:29you got the butcher block on the countertops,
22:33everywhere,
22:33even the leaf extension.
22:34You really dressed it up quite nice.
22:36And I'm happy you tackled the mouse fur,
22:40we call it.
22:41So,
22:42Airstream had two different versions
22:44of the trailer back then.
22:45They had,
22:45well,
22:46several actually.
22:47They had the Safari base,
22:49which we're in,
22:50they had the Safari special edition,
22:52which had a front panoramic window,
22:55had a porthole window there,
22:56and it had an exposed woman of interior skin.
22:59And then they had the international CCD,
23:02which was that,
23:03but with like slider upper cabinets,
23:07and just a little bit more modern interior.
23:09You've taken it to a whole nother level,
23:11because originally this did have a dinette in the front.
23:14Over here was the kitchen sink.
23:15Next to that,
23:16about right over here,
23:18would have been the oven.
23:19Over here would have been a big refrigerator cabinet
23:22with a shelf on top of it.
23:24And then there would have been a bathroom sink out in the hall,
23:28a corner shower,
23:30a corner toilet,
23:31and then a north-south corner double bed.
23:35And then there would have been a wardrobe in between.
23:37So,
23:37you really modified the floor plan quite a bit.
23:40It actually feels like a floor plan that you'd see in like a 24-foot trailer.
23:45So,
23:45I think you've nailed it.
23:47I was really,
23:48I spent a lot of time figuring it out.
23:50Like,
23:51having,
23:51you know,
23:52a separate room for the toilet was important,
23:53because I didn't want to mess with the electric components that are in there,
23:56and then having the big bed.
23:58And we wanted to do that in a 19-foot,
24:01because the 23-foot,
24:02it's already laid out.
24:03But to get a small trailer like this,
24:06it didn't exist.
24:07So,
24:07I really worked hard to redesign it.
24:09And we were able to park,
24:11we went to the Smoky Mountains National Park,
24:13and we parked in one of the campgrounds there.
24:17And you couldn't fit a bigger trailer in there.
24:20So,
24:20we just got really lucky with it.
24:23The towing and the parking are still a challenge.
24:26Sometimes we talk,
24:26we see such great vans on your channel that we talk about maybe switching from this to a van.
24:32You know,
24:33so we're thinking about that.
24:34But,
24:35yeah,
24:35we love her.
24:37We call her the Jairstream,
24:38because,
24:38after my name.
24:40And we've just had a lot of fun.
24:42So,
24:42you know,
24:43go on Instagram.
24:44You can find her page and see all the early pictures.
24:49It's funny,
24:49because the previous owner,
24:51it was beautiful.
24:53And people couldn't believe that I was going to rip it apart.
24:55But I knew we needed those two things,
24:58and we wanted the small trailer.
25:00And there's no doubt that we would get an Airstream,
25:02because they're classic.
25:03So,
25:04I'm so glad you were able to see her again after all these years.
25:06Yeah.
25:07And you know what?
25:07It's like,
25:08you buy a house,
25:09and even if people renovated it five or ten years,
25:12you're going to add your own touch to it anyway.
25:13Yeah.
25:14So,
25:14you didn't,
25:14like,
25:14take from it.
25:15I especially like these lights.
25:17I was commenting on these lights.
25:19I've never seen this particular brand or style before.
25:22But I like that,
25:23I think.
25:24That one's a different one,
25:25but yeah,
25:26it doesn't have the dial.
25:28But it has a thing you can adjust it.
25:29All different heats,
25:30and then you can adjust it down.
25:32Those are cool.
25:32I'm going to look at the brand of these,
25:34and figure out how I could put them in my Airstream van.
25:37And I'll put a link in the description.
25:39Our viewers,
25:39you know,
25:40they love seeing these things,
25:41and they're like,
25:42well,
25:42let me see how they did it.
25:43And then they wind up full in love,
25:44and they're going to want to buy it.
25:45So,
25:45even if you're not ready to sell it,
25:47you're going to get people that are going to ask about it.
25:50And if you ever build a van,
25:51I'm going to have you back on the show.
25:54Because you did an amazing job here,
25:56and I'd love to see what you're doing with a van,
25:58if you go that route.
25:59Oh,
25:59thank you.
26:00I love her.
26:00I think she's cozy and warm.
26:03Yeah.
26:03So,
26:03I mean,
26:04you know,
26:04I always ask people,
26:05like,
26:05how did it change your life?
26:07Did it enhance your life?
26:09Did it make travel easy?
26:10It did.
26:12It's one of those things,
26:13my husband and I have both always loved being in nature,
26:16and I'm an avid hiker,
26:18and he's a cyclist.
26:19So,
26:20wherever we take a trip,
26:21he'll bike somewhere,
26:22and we'll hike together.
26:24And I had driven,
26:26my,
26:27we have two daughters,
26:27and my older daughter was moving to Los Angeles,
26:29so we,
26:30I drove the cargo van across the country with her,
26:33and we made a week out of it.
26:35And I had so much fun doing that,
26:37and came home,
26:38and that's when we're like,
26:39we're going to go across the country,
26:41and we don't want to stay in hotels every night.
26:43We want something,
26:43and that's what led us to the Airstream.
26:45So,
26:46he's not retired yet,
26:47but we have taken a few trips,
26:50and it's just so relaxing to sit out in nature,
26:54and enjoy the streams,
26:57and,
26:57you know,
26:57building a fire outside,
26:59but then come in here and have all the comforts.
27:01It's total glamping,
27:02which is what,
27:03you know,
27:04new campers needed.
27:05And my Airstream baby,
27:06I have that aha moment
27:07every time I get back to my Airstream
27:09after being out all day,
27:11and I,
27:12you know,
27:12I'm getting ready for bed,
27:13and I lay down,
27:14I'm like,
27:14I can't believe all this
27:16is in this little tiny trailer.
27:18I know,
27:18I know,
27:18it's crazy.
27:19And it's all here,
27:20it's not like a hotel room,
27:21like,
27:21did they mess with anything?
27:22Yeah.
27:23This got moved,
27:24did they clean this?
27:25It's like,
27:25no,
27:25it's your own mess.
27:27It's exactly the way you left it
27:28when you left in the morning,
27:29and it feels like home.
27:31You know,
27:31I don't get homesick as much
27:33in my Airstream as I would,
27:35like traveling in hotels.
27:36Yeah,
27:36you're exactly right.
27:37And I know with the hotel,
27:38it was,
27:39you're dragging your luggage
27:40in and out.
27:41Every night I had a cooler
27:41with snacks and food.
27:43I keep everything here.
27:44I didn't show the cabinets
27:46in the back,
27:46but they're massive,
27:47so I keep all my clothes in there.
27:49And it is,
27:50you come home
27:50after doing whatever you're doing.
27:52And we have a little
27:5425-pound cockapoo,
27:56and she loves it,
27:57and she sleeps with us,
27:59so she hogs a little bit
28:00of the bed.
28:01But it's been,
28:02it's been really great.
28:03And yeah,
28:04we can take her now
28:04everywhere we want to go.
28:05Well,
28:06I appreciate the opportunity.
28:07Thanks for joining us today.
28:09See you on the next door.
