Struggling with your approach shots? You're not alone. Join me as I analyse the brutal truth of my inconsistent iron play using Shot Scope. In this series, I'm setting a goal to go from a 20-handicap proximity to a 10-handicap. First step: understanding the data.

00:00There's a famous saying in golf to aim small, miss small.
00:03Well, in my case, it's more like aim small, miss the green.
00:06I'd love to be able to hit something that even resembles my intended yardage,
00:10but with the inconsistencies in my game, that seems unlikely.
00:14Well, enough's enough.
00:16In this three-part series, I'm going to use ShotScope products and data
00:20to see if I can get dialed in from 100 to 150 yards.
00:25Or at least, that's the plan.
00:29Same club, same swing, totally different postcodes.
00:34Hitting the green is going to be down to luck more than anything else.
00:38The first step on any improvement journey, however, is understanding your start point.
00:43So let's have a look at the data.
00:45A 20 handicapper like me has an average proximity of 27 yards when playing from this key distance.
00:51But if I can cut that proximity down to 19 yards,
00:55that tracks to playing off more like a 10 handicap.
00:58But I can't do that alone,
01:00so I'm calling in reinforcements from PJ Pro Alex James to fix this mess.
01:05Because, let's face it,
01:07I need some serious supervision if I'm going to get anywhere close to that target.
01:12I'm going to get a little bit more like a 10-year-old.
