Large-scale garment worker protests have disrupted industrial areas across Bangladesh, including Dhaka, Gazipur, Savar and Ashulia. Workers are demanding a minimum monthly wage of 30,000 taka, more than double the current minimum of 12,500 taka, citing rising living costs and financial pressures. Reports on November 1 indicated that 529 factories had been affected, with nearly one million workers leaving their workplaces.

The unrest has involved road blockades, clashes with police and reports of arson. Police used tear gas and water cannons in some areas. In response, the government announced a six-member minimum wage board to review workers' salaries. Demonstrations continued despite the announcement, leaving the situation uncertain.
