00:17Hello and welcome back to another exciting episode. Today we are at the New Jersey State
00:23Museum and Planetarium, so come with us and see what we can see. Yes! If you've never been to the
00:31New
00:32Jersey State Museum and Planetarium, oh you are in for a treat. Just wait until you see what we
00:41discovered inside. It's going to be an absolute feast for the eyes and the brain. So let's get
00:49started, shall we? Boobies. No boobies.
00:57As we walk through the museum, let me give you some basic information and some background.
01:03The hours of operation, at least at the time that we visited, was Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m.
01:10to 4 45 p.m. They are closed Mondays and on state holidays. Admission is free.
01:19However, there is a small admission for the planetarium part of the museum.
01:25It is located at 205 West State Street in Trenton, New Jersey. I will tell you that donations are very
01:36much accepted and appreciated to the New Jersey State Museum Foundation. So if you wanted to give,
01:42you could do that because that foundation's revenue does support the museum's collections,
01:48exhibits, and programs. If, however, you decide to go into the planetarium, the actual cost, again,
01:57at the time that we visited, where adults were $10, kids, children 12 and under were $5,
02:03dollars. And there were discounts for seniors 65 and over for students with valid IDs, of course,
02:10members, groups of 15 or more, active military. And, you know, there could be some other like
02:18AAA stuff that I'm not aware of, but there are discounts to be had. So just ask.
02:25For those of you who do have little kids that you're going to bring along and you have to have
02:30the
02:30backpacks to bring along all the essentials, just understand you will have to carry the backpacks in
02:37front of you. So you don't hit the exhibits and cause damage. And photography without flash is permitted.
02:47However, there are some areas where photographs are prohibited because either they're on loan from
02:54somebody else who doesn't want photos taken, or quite frankly, my opinion is they don't trust about
03:01the flash. And the flash could damage the antiquity and other items that they have.
03:08I often get comments and questions about parking. And this time I remembered to ask. So on weekdays,
03:16there's metered street parking that's available, along with some limited number of free visitor spots in
03:23the nearby state house garage. Free parking is available on weekends and lots that are adjacent to the
03:30museum and on the street in front of the museum. But again, those free spots are only on the weekends.
03:36As a general overview, of course, the museum specializes in science, history and art. And with
03:44holdings of more than 2 million artifacts, you get to explore collections in natural and cultural history,
03:53archaeology, and fine art at the New Jersey State Museum. Also take a tour, participate in hands-on activities,
04:04enjoy a lecture or two if you happen to be there at the time the lectures are there, see a
04:09planetarium show,
04:10again with that minimum fee, interact with scientists working on real fossils, or just simply browse the
04:18galleries. And best of all, you get to know more about New Jersey and its place in the world.
04:25I'm not sure this is normal, but when we were there, a lot of people seem to forget to go
04:30down
04:30into the basement and check out the Indians and Europeans in colonial New Jersey. They had all these
04:39really neat side museums that kind of broke down the different historical eras like, you know,
04:46the Delaware Indians and such. It was really neat. So let's take a little musical exploration of the place.
05:18I'll be able to share this a little bit, throughout the year.
05:18a little bit, and I am sure that you could be in the book.
05:18a little bit. Have a lot of fun.
05:44I will have a lot of fun. I'll come back to you next time to go down in the book.
07:16It's really neat.
07:17And they have all these little information boards all over the place, definitely worth a stop.
07:23Well, thank you for coming along with us to the New Jersey State Museum.
07:28Don't forget to push the appropriate buttons below.
07:30And don't forget to come back because we have a lot of really interesting adventures planned for you and coming
07:37up.
07:38And as always, have a great day.
