00:00Nigerian designer Bubu Ogisi brought a blend of performance, installation and spirituality for her show on the final day of
00:09Lagos Fashion Week.
00:11Her label Ayame Sigo explores the boundaries between fashion and art with one-of-a-kind pieces made from materials
00:20sourced across Africa.
00:22I think we're just showing people how to sort of disrupt and disassociate yourself from the status quo.
00:30Strategies have already been in place but also can be created afresh. I think that's what we're also presenting to
00:36everyone.
00:37Throughout the five-day event, African designers turned the runway into a vibrant mix of heritage and fresh vision.
00:45Their creations reflecting the diversity of African design with bold looks and storytelling.
00:53What I found incredible here, first of all, is the use of color, which I think is quite different from
00:59what we might be used to seeing in Europe.
01:02The colors and a kind of architectural construction of the garments, which is much more expressive and not necessarily at
01:10all about achieving something very minimal.
01:14That's quite surprising, but I think it also reflects the experience I've had of Lagos.
01:21Our senses are constantly being stimulated here.
01:27Lagos Fashion Week celebrates and provides a market for local brands.
01:33The size and scope of the annual event also reflects the African continent's growing influence on the global fashion industry.
01:42Right now, when we see with luxury brands, what's happening, there is that lake of wow.
01:49I think creatives have overdone themselves in a certain way where right now there is this missing thing of seeing
01:57something that can really touch you inside.
02:00And I think what's happening here right now is what's missing in that way, which means that all the designers
02:07are very talented here.
02:09Talented, active and increasingly influential, they'll be back next year with more designs.
02:17I'll show you exactly what we do on父親 means.
02:19But I know I enjoy studying.
02:19After English.
02:20Yes. Does
02:20It
