00:00And at this point, I mean, there is so much to get to.
00:02There was just so much that you should be impressed with from these two programs this weekend.
00:08But let's start with USC because Lincoln Riley getting his first statement, like big statement,
00:15USC win this weekend, really, I think, solidified his future with this program.
00:21So in order to have some kind of optimism to make the CFP, we needed Lincoln Riley to win against.
00:32Well, now that UCLA is in the top five, have have at least two wins against three of the top
00:38five teams that were remaining on their schedule.
00:41Indiana got bumped down to number six.
00:42They're on a bye this week.
00:43They'll probably be bumped back up into the five into the top five by the time they play next Saturday.
00:49Actually, no, the Saturday, the Saturday after next is the Trojans and Hoosiers are on bye.
00:55Said it at the top of the show.
00:57I really want to reiterate this.
00:59Ohio State started a true freshman at quarterback.
01:01That is true.
01:02Luke Fahey is not as good as Julian saying.
01:04That is also true.
01:06Luke Fahey missed two throws that probably would have been touchdowns if Julian saying through him.
01:11That is true.
01:13Luke Fahey is not the reason that the Buckeyes lost.
01:16The Buckeyes lost because they were out toughed.
01:18The Buckeyes lost because they were out coached.
01:21The Buckeyes lost because the Trojans played with a sense of urgency that the Buckeyes were not able to match
01:30at any point.
01:31The Buckeyes lost because the energy from that crowd, shout out Shea and a lot of other members of the
01:36fan team who are helping that crowd.
01:38It got to the Buckeyes and they did a terrible job tackling.
01:43They did a terrible job covering.
01:45They did a terrible job meeting the moment.
01:49That being said, what USC has to do now is do it again.
01:53They're on a bye.
01:55They get to celebrate the win.
01:56It's a perfectly timed bye because they deserve to live up this moment in the spotlight all week.
02:02But what is now demanded out of this Lincoln-Riley team is you have to do it again.
02:07Because if you can play the way that they played this most recent Saturday, there is no team on your
02:12schedule that you should be worried about.
02:15Even UCLA?
02:17If they played the way that they played on Saturday and UCLA has a slow start like they've had for
02:24the past two weeks, that game gets a whole lot more interesting than we initially thought that it would be.
02:30But Indiana is extremely gettable.
02:32Indiana was a play away in overtime from losing to Minnesota, which broke my heart.
02:36Minnesota should have won that game.
02:38But Indiana just lost to Ohio State just a couple weeks ago.
02:43This could be one of the most meteoric turnarounds the Trojans have ever had.
02:47It is insane.
02:47I mean, they took advantage of an Ohio State defense that just didn't show up.
02:51And they had big plays.
02:54The Mark Bowman one that we talked about off the top of the show.
02:57I mean, that was like a video game play.
02:59Just hurtling over the Ohio State players was just like chef's kiss slow motion.
03:05I've watched it probably like 20 times.
03:08Like, it was insane.
03:09Jada Maiava also, like, decided to show back up through for 222 yards and a touchdown.
03:14And you could tell that this was a complete team effort.
03:18And after the game, Lincoln Riley talked about just the biggest win of his USC career.
03:24You know, it's not about me.
03:27You know, it's about these guys.
03:28So my emotions are just the excitement for these guys to feel like they feel in that locker room right
03:33now.
03:33And for our staff to feel the way that it feels.
03:38I love team sports because I like being a part of teams and being a part of other people.
03:43And when they get a chance to have success or celebrate it or feel good about it, that's all I
03:47need.
03:48It was really interesting, too, because he ended the press conference with, like, a planned speech.
03:54And he's just, you can tell he has really been thinking about how he approaches the media all last week
04:02leading up to this game, after the game.
04:04And it kind of came down to, like, this win, it matters to me because of the people that I
04:10work with.
04:11And everyone, like, that's all that I care.
04:13I don't care what you guys think.
04:14What I care is that everyone that works with me and works with this team knows how much I care,
04:19knows how much we all care, and that we do have the ability to win these big games.
04:24And if there has been two of the biggest criticisms for Lincoln Riley, it's, one, the big game, and, two,
04:31how he handles the media in moments of loss.
04:36And what I heard in that prepared speech, which is awesome, it's like when, it's like when you watch the
04:43Oscars and an actor runs up, gets the award, and says, oh, my God, I never thought this would happen.
04:48And then they pulled out a speech that they spent two days writing.
04:51You're like, this was definitely planned.
04:52Yes, I love this moment for Lincoln Riley.
04:56And him addressing, him not being great at dealing with the media is why Oklahoma grew sick of him.
05:03It's why the USC faithful are kind of, were upset up until last Saturday because you're not going to win
05:08every game.
05:09Yeah.
05:09But you got to have answers why you're not winning those games.
05:12Look at Jim Harbaugh and how the Chargers fans have kind of run their course in dealing with his non
05:17-answer answers.
05:18What I love, though, is if USC can lean into this villain role, sign me up.
05:23When the Trojans were at their best, they were the villain.
05:25Here in L.A., everyone loved him.
05:27Outside of L.A., people hated it.
05:29People hated the celebrities on the sideline.
05:31People hated pretty boy Matt Leinart.
05:33People hated Reggie Bush and how he was doing things that a running back's not supposed to.
05:37Like, if they can lean into this, sign me up.
05:41Lincoln Riley had a little war of words back and forth with the Ohio State athletic director.
05:47They're cussing each other out.
05:48And I'm sitting there saying, if USC can just be in this middle finger to the rest of the world,
05:54you guys were out on us.
05:56Screw you.
05:57It's us versus everybody.
05:58I can get on board with that.
06:00I would love that.
06:01But, again, they have to do this a couple more times.
06:05This is the most influential win that they have had in the Lincoln Riley era.
06:10But that doesn't mean it needs to be the biggest moment of the Lincoln Riley era, right?
06:14I don't want to spin it forward to try and take away from how historic this win was.
06:19But this win doesn't mean much if you don't finish the year strong.
06:23If you build off of it.
06:24Exactly.
06:25Yeah.
06:25Which, that next big one, and I think which would be the difference maker, will be against the Crosstown rivals.
06:31UCLA, who shut out Nevada.
06:3427-0, improved to 8-0.
06:36They are sitting at No. 5.
06:39They are a top 5 ranked team.
06:42And just everything we continue to see from UCLA.
06:46But this defense.
06:47This defense was the story.
