00:00Did you watch The Wiz last night?
00:03No.
00:04I went and looked for the score, and I was happy to hear what I was seeing.
00:08I watched it.
00:09Now, I told the world this last night.
00:11It was going to be second screen, but I had it on,
00:12and it ended right at halftime of Monday Night Football.
00:16So I got to go full screen, full audio for like the last five minutes.
00:19Perfect timing.
00:20White Bryant, see if you can find this information.
00:23The Wizards are over 500.
00:254-3.
00:26On November 3rd.
00:28When is the last time the Wizards were over 500 in November?
00:32It was like late November 2022, I believe.
00:36I'm surprised by that.
00:38They've been tanking for three years, four years, bro.
00:41I'm surprised it's not longer than that.
00:44But the Wiz last night go on the road to Orlando.
00:48Orlando was down a bunch of guys and looked good, dude.
00:51DeBonson last night, 21 points in 33 minutes.
00:55A plus 10 in plus minus.
00:58He had a steal late in this game.
01:02His ability to get to the free throw line.
01:05He was 6 of 6 at the free throw line last night.
01:08Five boards.
01:09Three steals.
01:11He was just everywhere.
01:13He was really, really good.
01:14Anthony Davis went for 27.
01:16He was 12 of 17 from the field.
01:1927, nine points.
01:20He was a plus 8.
01:22Keyshawn, when the game was very much in contest, it was a tight game kind of down the stretch.
01:32Keyshawn ended up with the ball out on the wing as the shot clock was drifting down.
01:38Keyshawn, and he made a move, pull up jumper from kind of the top of the key and nailed it.
01:42And it was just like, we have really watched Keyshawn George become a player.
01:47From when he was drafted three years ago out of Miami, and we're like, wait, this dude is Swiss?
01:52Wait, this dude's name is not Keyshawn, it's Keyshawn?
01:54We've learned a lot about this young man, and he has become a player, dude.
01:59He went for 22 last night, 4 of 8 from 3.
02:04Trae Young, 15 points, 9 assists, had a couple turnovers.
02:09It was a really fun game to watch.
02:13Bilal, the energy he brings off the bench.
02:16Wiz are 4-3, over 500 in November.
02:20The best part of watching this Wiz season unfold is how dramatically different it feels from the last 3-4
02:28years.
02:28Whenever the tanks started, now they're competing.
02:32And Brian, I don't know.
02:35I remember when they traded away Denny Avdia, the conversation was timeline.
02:40Denny's development is not on our timeline, right?
02:44And it's hard to look at what Denny has become out in Portland and know that they traded him away.
02:49But for the timeline perspective and for the goal was to tank and really, you know, be bad for a
02:55while, get to number one overall pick.
02:57Eventually, their vision has come to some level of fruition, right?
03:03Yeah.
03:04Maybe this is premature and we put a pin in this conversation.
03:06But I couldn't help but notice something last night just watching.
03:10Like, there's no way Anthony Davis' timeline is what this Wizards team's timeline is.
03:17Like, AD wants to compete for a title this year.
03:22You know what I'm saying?
03:23And the Wiz just aren't there and that's okay.
03:26Like, they're going to be competing for a playoff spot, which is what I'm here for.
03:31But I just, knowing back in the Oklahoma City days that they had Paul George and were competing and then
03:38they flipped him for the mega haul that became SGA and the guts of a championship contender and watching Anthony
03:45Davis right now, like, and he's been nothing but excellent.
03:49But knowing he hasn't gotten perhaps the money he's looking for, it just, you wonder.
03:56And we can put a pin in that and that's a conversation maybe for Christmas time or January.
04:00The whole thing about it though, Jay, you always want your team trying to improve.
04:05And if that's part of their game plan, cool.
04:10If they can improve and he can move on and he's happy, cool.
04:13Because if he plays the way we want him to play, he can put this team in a great position.
04:19You know what I'm saying?
04:21So, it can be a win-win.
04:24Nothing wrong with that.
04:26Wizards are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
04:28Now, they're tied with a bunch of other people and they played seven games.
04:32Sixers, Sixers look like that dude right now.
04:34Sixers are 7-1, Pistons 6-1, Celtics 5-2, and then your Washington Wizards in fourth place.
04:42There's a lot of football left.
04:44I'm hoping for them to finish around 500.
04:47And if you get to 500 in the East, you're most likely in the playoffs.
04:51I'd love for them to avoid the play-in.
04:52You know, I tell you, wait, let it happen, dawg.
04:55I know.
04:55I'm excited.
04:57I'm rooted for this organization since I was a child.
04:59But let it happen sometimes.
05:01If you start talking about it right now, you got to talk about it like,
05:05it's going to be multiple weeks and it's not ready.
05:08Scott, just keep with it.
05:09Let's go past halfway.
05:11Watching DeBonsa cruise past the 15-1 last night.
05:14Jeff, I don't know what that was, but I appreciate you, bro.
05:18Watching DeBonsa last night, he shot out of a cannon just so much energy.
05:21Speaking of shot out of a cannon, and to their credit,
05:25damn, the Chicago Bears looked good last night.
05:27They did.
05:28That is a...
05:28If Simmons came into the game, first play, boom.
05:30Hey, man, hello.
05:33Hi, Chicago and Chicago.
05:34Here's why you traded for me.
05:36But somebody was damn face-masking, and they took it off the...
05:40No, the sack counted.
05:42The sack did count.
05:43Right, it did count.
05:45Whoever yanked the new face-mask.
05:46Yeah, it was the other big fella that was engaged with the sack.
05:48But he came right out and did his thing, man.
05:51And that's the thing about it.
05:52Like, what you watch with them, I always tell you,
05:56you give me a pass rusher, I'm going to make him play football.
05:59I'm going to run the ball right to his chest.
06:03Because pass rushers have a way of being happy to be the best in their competition.
06:10And if you have an offensive lineman being passive, because they normally pass protecting,
06:15and that guy who's rushing is the better athlete, he's going to beat him most times.
06:20But all of a sudden, when that offensive lineman put his helmet right in the middle of his chest,
06:23and he does that play after play, and that running back keeps coming,
06:27you find out that guy can't really play.
06:29Like, you make him play big boy football.
06:31Sure.
06:31And what happened to Seattle last night, they got a taste of their own damn medicine.
06:37Absolutely.
06:37Defense was, Bears defense was flying to the ball.
06:40And then the offense of the Bears was like, hey, you're not just rushing our pass for the day.
06:46We're going to make you play football.
06:47Totally.
06:48And Ben Johnson, not Ben Johnson, but it was McDonald.
06:51He was confused.
06:53That's the first time I saw him confused.
06:55Like, if last night was a playoff preview, that's a juicy-ass game.
06:59Because Mike McDonald is defending Super Bowl champ, a phenomenal defensive mind.
07:03Ben Johnson got the better of him.
07:05Early on, when they had the scripted plays, they went right down the field.
07:08How about the direct snap to DeAndre Swift with Caleb in motion
07:12to then throw to a wide-open Roma Dunze, just to kind of offset the pass rush?
07:18Last night, a number of things happened.
07:21Getting Jeff Simmons in Chicago reunites him with his college teammate
07:25and well-documented close friend Montez Sweat.
07:27A motivated Montez is a dangerous player.
07:30He had a sack last night coming off the edge.
07:32He had just served, I believe, a two-game suspension.
07:35I think that was PED-related.
07:37Don't quote me on that.
07:37It was.
07:38The story of this game, though, Brian, if you watched it last night,
07:41the way Chicago flew to the ball defensively, super impressive.
07:47Yeah.
07:47They seem to be getting away with a lot of stuff Washington doesn't get away with.
07:51Yeah, because that hit on Darno, I don't care what part of his body he used as a defender.
07:59I know that that rule state when a quarterback is going to slide, giving up himself,
08:04you're not supposed to hit him.
08:05Because if he starts to slide right here and slides all the way to the wall,
08:10he's down right here.
08:12And you had a chance to hit him?
08:14Now, it was weird because he, like, flew in with his back.
08:17It don't make a difference, Jay.
08:18But it was helmet.
08:19You're not supposed to touch him.
08:20It was certainly connecting with the helmet.
08:23You're not supposed to touch him when he's sliding, when he's giving up his body.
08:27So you look back, and I saw your post last night, the chase-on penalty,
08:34which one is the one that you want to protect?
08:37Which one is the one that doesn't show that you care about player safety?
08:41When you miss a guy's helmet and you're coming back off the,
08:46bouncing off the shoulder pad, it just grazes.
08:48Or you hit a guy when he's sliding?
08:53B, I'm with you, man.
08:54It was, um, I was shocked by that play.
08:59Seriously.
08:59And the ref, the guest referee there stated he is not supposed to be touched.
09:06So he said it should have been a penalty.
09:08It's amazing to me how the NFL likes to talk about player safety,
09:13but they protect these referees who are, listen, the refereeing this year has been worse than it's ever been.
09:20Agree with that.
09:21And they basically act like, oh, are they doing everything they're supposed to do?
09:25Was that the crew last night that was supposed to have the Commanders game that got switched?
09:28I don't know.
09:29I think it was.
09:30And basically, it's my understanding they switched that crew off because they didn't want Sunday Night Football,
09:36kind of the biggest, the biggest viewership of all football games for, you know,
09:41Mike Tirico to be talking about how bad this crew blew it the week before.
09:45Well, but you put them on Monday Night Football.
09:50I don't know when, and it might not be now, but at some point, we should have a Sam Darnold
09:57conversation.
09:57He was 17-34 last night, buck 88, two touchdowns and a pick.
10:03Completing 50% of your pass is not very good, but he was getting the heat knocked out of him.
10:08Oh, yeah.
10:08The story of this game, though, that'll get lost, third downs.
10:12Bears were able to sustain drives.
10:14Bears went 7-15 on third down.
10:17That is long drives.
10:19Seahawks, 1-11.
10:20Yeah, that's horrible.
10:21Yeah.
10:22I mean, that's your ballgame, man.
10:24One of these teams was able to stay on the field.
10:25The other wasn't.
10:26That down is the most important down in football.
