00:02The Supreme Court has already dealt President Trump a setback in his fight over California's
00:07mail-in ballots.
00:08The justices rejected an emergency request from his administration Monday, just hours
00:13after it was filed.
00:14The Justice Department wanted California to set aside ballots for more than 20,000 people
00:19it suspects are not U.S. citizens.
00:22But California officials questioned the accuracy of that list and warned that eligible voters
00:26could have their ballots wrongfully excluded.
00:28The Supreme Court rejected the request in a one-sentence order without explaining its
00:33reasoning.
00:34No justices publicly dissented.
00:36The decision follows a string of losses for the administration in lower court.
00:40On Friday, a federal appeals court ruled 2-1 against the Justice Department's request.
00:45The two judges in the majority wrote,
00:47If the United States believes different procedures are necessary for vote-by-mail ballots, we
00:52believe it should take that suggestion to Congress, not the court's.
00:56The administration had argued that once the disputed ballots were mixed with other votes,
01:01there would be no way to separate them.
01:02But the Supreme Court's decision leaves California's existing ballot counting procedures in place
01:07for today's election.
01:09All right is for Ninety sana.
01:11We are safe, for NCNB court has electedregierung and that's all,
01:11Today, forelfındrays from the party system that looks after voterгодcats,
01:11That's which we'll be clear already over Republican.
