00:10questions recently is lamar jackson and his contract situation moving forward we know he's
00:1684 million dollars uh on cap hit for next year and a lot of people wondering whether or not he'll
00:21be on the roster which i personally think is i can't see him not being on the roster
00:28but it's a matter of new contract what is the best case scenario cap wise for the ravens
00:34with lamar jackson's contract in his future well yeah i mean obviously getting a contract done
00:41uh seems like perhaps he's been waiting on the next round of quarterback contracts there really
00:47weren't any this past off season but you've got caleb williams coming up you've got drake may
00:53uh stroud uh jayden daniels so um unfortunately depends on when those contracts come about um
01:01the ravens absolutely have to make a decision before the beginning of the league year because
01:06um that that 84 million is is untenable at this point um i i agree with you i think i
01:15think they'll
01:15get it done finally i mean i i just you know maybe i'm being too optimistic i don't know i've
01:20been wrong
01:21on this subject plenty of times over the last couple years as far as them getting a deal done
01:25but um so yeah i mean if they get it if they get him extended that 84 probably comes down
01:32to in the in
01:33the you know 40s to 50s which creates a lot of cap space helps them out um and then obviously

01:39him secured for the next few years i mean the only way i think he's not here is if he
01:43basically goes to
01:44the ravens and says i want out you know and it doesn't seem to be any indication of that i

01:50obviously we hear about miami i'm not even sure where that came from other than he lives there
01:54i mean who wants to go honestly your 30 year old quarterback who wants to go back to rebuild it

02:20done that and they you know um because he has no trade clause so he controls where he goes if

02:26try to trade him um but um it you know they could always restructure him one more time and punt

02:33more year that would put 80 million in dead money on the 28 cap without him uh potentially but um

02:42that's that's kind of the worst case scenario but that would allow them to actually do things next year
02:48uh you know rep roster wise if they trade him it's going to be tough because even a trade leaves
02:53about 74 million on the cap next year um because of all the accelerated bonus money so that still
03:00saves 10 10 million or about 10 million over working would otherwise count but that's still a chunk of
03:06change so obviously best case scenario is getting something done in february early march and then
03:11everybody can move forward well everybody seems to you know point to lamar's contract and that's the
03:16obvious one but they're the second most expensive defense in the league after pittsburgh who's
03:21taking up the bulk is it roquan like what's the deal with his contract well it's it's roquan i mean
03:27it's it's madavike obviously nobody's concerned about that it's roquan and and humphrey obviously
03:33humphrey will be a free agent after this year so he's off the book so that's the end of that
03:38all there
03:38is some there's some dead money there uh from uh from void years and then restructures but
03:44uh roquan will be the decision they'll have to make he'll count 20 million against the cat i'm
03:50sorry he has a 20 million salary next year um i highly doubt he'll get that they'll either they'll
03:56cut him or have to try to figure out a pay cut of course i thought the same thing about

04:00year and i obviously was wrong about that so never say never but i don't they're they're tight they're
04:06going to be so tight against the cap even with a uh even with an extension for lamar that that

04:22next year yeah i've heard so many fans talk about just blow it up trade all the pieces away and

04:27don't think people realize the value of what you'd be trading and what you would actually get back like
04:32i don't think it's as great as everyone believes um do you think they make any trades and do you

04:37like i heard roquan might be the best option of somebody that would move if they were going to
04:41i just don't think any of that happens yeah i mean um i mean humphrey obviously people don't
04:48know humphrey and andrews they have no trade value um the guys that you might not want to trade
04:53you know guys younger guys you want to keep around obviously not trading them yeah roquan is the one
04:59i look at um mainly because again they're going to need cap space next year if he if he's not

05:05to be here next year because of that 20 million salary um they could trade him and it's really
05:11it's more of a i hate to say it this way but a salary dump yeah than anything because they
05:15could
05:16get about eight million in cap savings which would be very helpful to carry over in the next year
05:21so um you know even if so can you get a fourth or a fifth or a sixth or a
05:26seventh honestly i don't
05:28even know that they pick matters as much at you know if they decide they would rather have that
05:33that cap space to carry over then if you even if you get a seventh or a pick swap it's
05:39really more
05:39about that that eight million dollars um to be again and again because they're going to be so
05:45tight next year's cap they're already right now 50 million over of course a lot of that is lamar
05:49uh and roquan that 20 million so you know so if you clear the 20 million off for next year
05:55and you
05:55get eight million to carry over you're kind of it's kind of a 20 million or 28 million dollar bonus
06:00on next year's cap right off the bat so that's the one and again it's not really about the draft
06:06pick as much as about you know the cap savings people brian mcfall and cap allergist from russell
06:12street report brian if you grade the way the ravens have managed uh the cap situation what grade would
06:20you give them right now yeah i mean obviously you know we're at the back end of a lot of
06:26veteran
06:26contracts and that's always going to be the difficult part um you know the andrews contract
06:32is a disaster um again i would have i would have i thought i was almost certain that they were
06:39going
06:39to force humphrey to take a pay cut instead of paying him 19 million this year so um they've really
06:46um i mean overall i think over the years they've been pretty good but this year a lot of things
06:52have
06:52come back to bite them in the in the rear end and it's they got nobody to blame but themselves
06:57brian moving forward um you know as we just kind of alluded to whether they're trading i don't think
07:02they're buying all the quarterbacks out there stinking i don't know you want to give up draft
07:05capital for that what type of season do you think we have on our hands the rest of the year

07:16are great out there but they probably you know they probably need a backup quarterback for next
07:22year anyway so and maybe it's the time to let the rookie find out or whether you bring somebody in

07:34you know he's a free agent next year or brissette i i prefer richardson out of those two personally but
07:40they're not going to cost you much of anything because they're both free agents
07:43uh the kid in chicago he's more expensive i don't know if he'll cost more draft wise but
07:50i you know i don't i don't see him as much even though i get the doyle connection there but
07:56um yeah i mean it obviously yeah we now know snoop is not coming back um i don't know that
